Cobra Starship - Future so bright, I gotta wear shades.

I only heard the shortest bit on hold the other day but fucking hell. I'm not sure what is worse, the song or the fact that that band is still around.

For those of you who saw How To Destroy Angels, what did you think of DIIV? They were so bad I actually ended up standing outside for a good part of their set.

i have a like/tolerate relationship with DIIV. they are completely unoriginal, dressing and acting like nirvana (this is ridiculous) and playing music that sounds like mid-period factory records and paisley underground pastiche (same can be said about every new band on captured tracks). i'm even kind of acquaintances with them via the DJ world i live in. but that said, i don't have a problem with originality if the band can make the most of it and write catchy songs or put on a good performance that makes the most of their obviously sleeve-worn influences, and DIIV can do both, in my book. they're no favorite, but i like them OK. i thought 'doused' was a strong song on a generally pleasant, if but "in-one-ear and out-the-other" album...

meanwhile, savages fell short on all of these qualifications, which sure is controversial these days. totally a sucker product for the UK hype machine and i'm not buying it. completely unoriginal sound AND they can't write a song for beans, though their live show was decent, but not at all the tour de force that the press makes it out to be.

i know there's a thread for these guys too (i don't want to be negative there), but CHVRCHES fail to impress as well, big time. as much as i love 80s influences and generally live in that world with my musical taste, i am very very tired of the pretty girl singer/gear-head boy dynamic of synthpop bands that bought laptops and one decent synth and think they're OMD all of a sudden without actually learning how to write a good song. it's all style, no substance.

That's sad. Especially in what it has to take to make a classic pop song. Plus, there is no way Beyonce could hold a candle to Freddie Mercury. Just watch him at Live Aid and you will see why he is the best. He makes you feel like you can sing and be part of the thing. Beyonce is just an overrated bitch.

That's why the comparison lyric/photo post I posted is even more hilarious. The lack of talent and minimal talent these days is shit. I think Beyonce sucks and is an overrated singer overall.

i don't think she's an overrated singer...i think she's misplaced. her voice would be much better suited to jazz than whatever genre into which her current style falls. she's got the pipes, she's just not doing the right thing with them.

also, she can dance really, really well.

I'm not against it entirely, I just think it's really generic and overdone.

Preeeeetty sure he couldn't give less fucks. Even if he borrowed fucks from somebody else, they would instantly vanish from his hands and he would just shrug and go back to visiting a nice warzone, somewhere...

Isn't anything sacred these days? It's bad enough One Direction takes the Ramones logo but Justin Beiber taking Black Flag's logo? I'm beyond offended by this.

It's a gag, nothing else. It's just that everyone gave in, most of the people who bought that shirt are way too young to know black flag. But the original creator stole the idea from somewhere else, made a few as a joke, created an etsy shop and voilą.
It's just a joke, but way too many people took it seriously.

    Edit : here

I know, henry could care less about most of the Black Flag merchandising (or Parodies); in the past he has requested people not to buy the Black Flag albums because none of the musicians involved were paid royalties... i'm pretty sure this also applies to the shirts and "derivative merch".

And i know the T-shirts are a gag... still the only one that's funny it's this one:

...the others are just plain dumb :/

Not care at all? Oh no, someone likes bad music. How startling.
