@Deepvoid — it's still August. The election is still more than seven weeks away and so much could happen. It really is anyone's guess at this point what party (or parties) will form government.

It's interesting to see Trudeau calling for a deficit in order to stimulate the economy while the NDP is aiming for a balanced budget.
Looks like the parties have some sort of identity crisis.
The NDP looks like it's moving a lot more to the center-right supporting the East Energy pipeline, balancing the budget and the recent firing of two candidates who were pro-Palestinian. On the other hand, their national daycare program, the minimum wage increase (not sure if it's pledged) are clearly left-leaning promises.
I think Mulcair can hurt his party if he keeps playing both side of the fence.
Conservatives are leading in Saskatchewan (tight race) but have strong leads in Alberta and Manitoba.

I think this is a pretty good overall assessment of where we're going to be at come October 20th. Check out that podcast and go back and listen to their archives (Canadaland Commons, and the O.G. Canadaland) as well, if you haven't already.

Gave it a listen to at work today, great podcast. Have to catch up on the others as well.
As it stands, it's impossible to tell what our next government will be. The only prediction I'm willing to make is Harper will not be our next prime minister. Even if the Conservatives get enough for a minority, I'm willing to bet the other parties will do something to keep the Conservatives from holding government.

No surprise. When most young couples have to choose between home ownership or starting a family, of course the birthrate will drop like that.
I remember going to a by election debate a few years ago there was this batshit crazy Christian Heritage candidate. Every question, no matter the topic, he would bring around to "native"Canadians (not aboriginal) having more kids.

Will be exercising my right to vote on the 19th.
Should be a fun election night. Very tight race.
I think Trudeau may end up with a minority government. Conservatives will end up being the opposition party but won't be able to form a coalition to overthrow the Liberals.

My riding is very typically conservative though. The last time it was even close as in 2004.

Wish it wasn't a majority situation. Would like to see the Liberals, NDP and Green work together. And it would have been nice for the Greens to pick up a few here on the island.

Agreed. While I'm no fan of the Liberals (their voting for Bill C-51 was an utter disgrace, and they'd better be prepared to scrap huge portions of it, if not repeal completely), at the very least we are sending more women and Indigenous people to the House of Commons.
