Interesting. Fantasies is probably my favorite Metric album. I pre-ordered Synthetica a day or two ago, and I really like the "Reflections" tracks - should be interesting to compare them to the final songs (they're basically stripped down, instrumental versions of select album cuts). The first one reminds me of Blade Runner. Psyched to hear the final album.

I wish they were playing a smaller venue than Radio City on their current tour. It sounds great there, but it's expensive and a tad impersonal. Hopefully they come back around and play somewhere more intimate.

Fantasies is also my favorite album from Metric. I really don't like Live It Out and find the other two albums just ok. The Emily Haines solo album is wonderful.

I've been listening to the full stream of Synthetica (soundcloud (http://soundcloud.com/metric-band/sets/synthetica-1/s-HVnCN)) and it's ok, not as good as Fantasies, but somewhat better than previous albums. I like the 4 first songs and then they lost me.

Metric fans should love this new album.

Same here, it lost me at the end. It's not a bad record but not as great as Fantasies. Can't wait to see them live in October!

I still haven't listened to the new record yet, but here's my favorite Metric (http://open.spotify.com/user/chriscarman/playlist/7y39EvU022BLlC13MlY58d) songs.

I only started listening to Metric a couple of months ago, but they are just the bee's knees. Satellite Mind is definitely my favorite song by them. I've only heard one of the new tracks and it sounds pretty rad.

I've given Synthetica about 4-5 listens all the way through and I'm a fan. It feels like a worthy follow-up to Fantasies that expands upon some of their "Metri-cities" without repeating themselves. I wouldn't say it loses me in the second half, but that opening trifecta is very effective. Hard to choose a favorite right now, though the title track, "The Void", and "Breathing Underwater" are just fantastic.

I'm also thrilled to be seeing them tonight at a "fans only" show in Brooklyn!!

I really really like Synthetica. It's definitely a worthy follow up to Fantasies. Pitchfork even gave it a 7, so you KNOW it's good if it gets that high of a rating from them. Fantasies got what, a 4 from them?

So... last night was fucking surreal. My brother's friend, who clearly has no shame (and has the advantage of being very attractive), dragged me to the front of the venue for the encore because I brought some original Metric art (http://jimpenola.blogspot.com/2012/06/metric.html) to hopefully share with the band. I conceived and executed a poster for the show within about 36 hours because I've had an unusual amount of creative momentum lately. In any case, we got a print to Josh, the bass player, during "Gold Guns Girls" and then got one to Emily right before the acoustic "Gimme Sympathy" - which she commented on while on stage, speaking to me and the audience. They were filming the concert for something last night, so I'd like to think my very special moment will end up on a DVD. At the end of the set, I couldn't really bear to watch them leave because I didn't think Emily would take the print - but sure enough she did, and even turned back to look at me and mouthed "thank you." In conclusion, life = complete.

First 5 tracks of Synthetica... AMAZING and then i get to Lost Kitten which i find to be a horrible song and i can't stand it, move on to The Void and it's only OK not as bad as Lost Kitten but not as good as the opening 5 tracks, then the album after this point continues to be almost AMAZING, Lou Reed in Wanderlust doesn't work for me though.

Overall i definitely don't think it's as solid as Fantasies but it is a decent album in any case.

I downloaded Synthetica from Amazon today for $3 as a promotion. I have yet to listen to it.

Metric is turning into one of my favorite bands. I think I discovered them through "Gold Guns Girls" from Fantasies and have been a huge fan since. I notice a lot of people favoring Fantasies but I think Synthetica is way better. Besides the track "The Wanderlust" I think every song is amazing. Clone is probably my favorite Metric song overall.

LOVE this band! They're so good! Emily Haines has one of the most gorgeous voice I've ever heard.

I think I'm in minority when I say that I like all Metric albums.

PS: They're working on a new album.

I really don't like the three new songs (check Spotify or Deezer). Too Bad So Sad has got to have the worst chorus ever. I can't stand to listen all the way through Cascade. The Shade has some shady sound... I'm looking forward my disappointment. I'm still hoping to like at least 3 songs on this new record coming next month. Pegans In Vegas, I don't like the the title either...

The new songs have been hit and miss for me too.

I think the Shade is awesome, Cascades is alright but ugh..... Too Bad, So Sad is HORRID.

Definitely lowering expectations for Pagans in Vegas. (i actually love the title however)

It has "leaked"-ish. If you have android of iphone, you can download the app Pagan Portal and listen to it all. The songs seems to fit well together.

Been a pretty big fan since I saw them open for Muse back in 2010, I believe. I thought Synthetica was great. Clone is one of my favorite songs of all time. Just listened to Pagan's in Vegas thanks to the poster above (THANKS!). It's pretty good. Besides the song's that have already been released, I really like Celebrate, Other Side, and The Face Pt. II, although I wonder if Brian Eno will get a writing credit for the last one.

I gotta say, the new album is good. Like really good. Nothing stood out the first time, but I still wanted to take another listen.

I've been enjoying the new album also. A lot of the tracks have yet to grow on me, but right now I'm loving Die Happy, Now or Never Now, Underline the Black, and Risk.

There were only a few tracks from Pagans in Vegas that really stuck with me. Although I LOVED seeing Cascades live and rocking out to it; that really transformed the track for me.

Can't wait to see some of these new ones live. I'm hoping I can swing the Chicago show, now that the US tour has been announced!

I find they’re a great studio band. I enjoy their albums, but their music doesn’t translate well in a live setting. I’ve seen them live a few times over the years (last time I saw them they opened for the pumkins about a month ago in London ON), and it just doesn’t work.

Going to have to go ahead and sort of disagree with you there. I just saw them Saturday night at the Fillmore in Silver Spring. I was center on the rail and it was one of the best shows I've seen. The band played a great set and had lots of energy throughout. They've improved a lot over the years, and they've been off the road since the pandemic started, so that's probably a factor. There's tons more videos from this tour on Youtube, but these are 2 that I took.
