Teenage Wristband, by the Twilight Singers. Press play and hear my favourite song of all time. I kid I knew from another message board said "It's alright. Not my music" when I played it for him. I never spoke to that kid again.

I couldn't tell you the first time I heard Al Stewart's "Year Of The Cat", but the first time I really listened I was just transfixed and intoxicated with the sound. Mind you, this was only a few years ago. Years after soaking up everything I could by the likes of Floyd, The Who, Miles, Beatles, Queen, NIN, Radiohead, Allman Brothers Band, Santana, etc, etc. And each of those artists would have at least 3 or 4 songs that would be an easy number one on my list. But this song, in terms of my tastes, is just perfect.

Like everyone here I'm in to so many different genres, but instead of posting my favorite Converge song, or something else heavy, I'll touch upon the songs that mean the most to me in a lighter vein. I still consider these in my..I'd say, top 25 songs ever.
First, 'Northern Lights' by Lux. Not just because of the memories associated with it, but because it's flat out one of the best songs I've ever heard to this day.

Chicane - 'No Ordinary Morning'

What a great thread!
Without a doubt, one of my favorite pieces of music, arriving during my formative years: Aphex Twin Girl/Boy song. If I'm in the right place, this song makes me cry, it even did that back when I was stoic to a fault.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YCSrMEsaNAM
Squarepusher's Iambic 5 poetry, likewise, is right at the top for me. The rest of the EP sucked, but it was worth it for this track.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZHy_XONbU3o
The CD I listened to on repeat before I got into Nine Inch Nails was The Best of the Art Of Noise, and I still love the song Opus 4. Many years later, I would stumble across the poem "No!" by Thomas Hood in one of my college textbooks, and reading it to myself, my mind came alive with the sound of this song. Most of the versions on YouTube have terrible audio, but there's one with terrible video and quality audio, so here's that.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oME_2AWPa0E
Last but not least, is a little King Missile. I saw John S. Hall do a spoken word show at the one decent coffee shop in my shitty central Pennsylvania town. I love this song, and have lost count of how many people I've wanted to play it for. Or maybe people who, when they are talking, I wish I could play this in the background.

It has a special place in my heart, along with IZ-US. It was the first song I listened to when I moved into my own place when I was 19, lying on my back on the floor in my empty living room.
