Any news on that?

I'm not really as interested in the live album as I maybe should be. To me, the tracklisting just strikes me as "meager". Especially, considering all of the great stuff played on that tour that isn't on there. I'll probably check it out eventually, I'm sure.

If this was a DVD that'd be a different story as far as my interest would go.

I'll be picking up the live album, but it is missing (due to label restrictions I'm sure) the live tracks previewing the new album. I'd be interested in hearing the differences from the early live versions to the versions that ended up on HanDover. I don't think crappy youtube videos will cut it.

But did they play new tracks on that tour? They definitely didn't at the Toronto show I saw. I know cEvin premiered new stuff in his DJ sets leading up to the release of Handover though.

Hell yes! That's not too bad of a wait either.

I thought 'huh, year and a half since handover' then I realised that in the time between Weapon and Mythmaker, they released Mind to Last Rights, 6 albums in 6 years. Never realised how prolific they were back then.

02-15-2013, 08:23 PM
I as well hated Mythmaker, so when HanDover came out, naturally I was skepitcal, but I gave it a listen with open ears and was pleasently surprised with what I heard. I re-gained confidence that this band can make great music again. Here's to hoping the new album is even better! I just want a Skinny Puppy tour at this point.

I think I'm alone when I say this but I hope this album is better than HanDover. The album was good but coming off of Mythmaker it was quite a let down to me.

Really? I've warmed up to Mythmaker (didn't like it at all at first), but I thought HanDover was awesome.

Piko
02-15-2013, 09:56 PM
Every now and then I'll put on Mythmaker (listened to it a little earlier). And from the time I first heard it to now, my opinion hasn't really changed. Usually, my opinion changes somewhat, even if its just a little bit. Not this one. I find it boring for the most part. I remember a few people disliking the second half. I actually think the second half was far better than the dull first half.

And I like GWOTR. But that one is really just a heavier ohGr album. Love ohGr. But, I don't want to listen to two bands and hear the exact same thing.

And if I remember correctly, Walk was only one three tracks for HanDover, which could be the reason I like it more than the other two. It doesn't sound like an ohGr album. Obviously, there's going to be some characteristics in the two. But, musically I hope for something different from the other.

kenthebear
02-16-2013, 06:26 AM
Wasn't handover actually quite heavily based on some unused ohgr songs? Or was it vice-versa, with undeveloped being unused puppy songs?

I remember the lines between the two got quite blurred at that point. Brownstone being ogre's ohgr (ugh) persona and appearing on handover, for example.

Piko
02-16-2013, 08:48 AM
UnDeveloped were throw aways from HanDover. If I remember right, while their label was going through their bankruptcy, cEvin had finished an album (which some had become unDeveloped) and decided to do another one which ended up being HanDover. I'm sure stuff from the original album ended up on both.

Undeveloped was cool: best Ohgr album since the debut.

Really looking forward to Weapon! I've liked mostly all of their newer stuff as well so I expect this to be good as well. Handover has been the best one of the 2000's puppy work.

Due out May 28 on Metropolis Records (http://www.metropolis-mailorder.com/product.php?prodnum=MET+870V), the album finds Skinny Puppy — niVek ohGr, (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nivek_Ogre) cEvin Key (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CEvin_Key) and Mark Walk (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_Walk) — melding electro, industrial, New Wave and rock sounds via what the band refers to as “simple and direct songwriting with strong abstract themes that correlate to the deeper concepts within the recording.”Of the band’s decision to address gun violence as the album’s central theme, Ogre says:

“Weapons and pharmaceuticals become the last bastion of investment wealth, the last stop for manufacturing in a crumbling power system still promoting mutual assured destruction. To maim, sicken and control, by genetically radiating and bombing populations back to the Stone Age; then manage the mutations through new medicines while claiming the race for a cure of this self-inflicted environmental disease is right around the corner… Weapons then procure the evolutionary next step. We are weapons.”
The album will be released on CD as well as limited-edition, 180-gram audiophile vinyl.

Remission you mean? Definitely does have that sound, no beating around the bush. I think it's pretty cool, though. Haven't heard the rest, but I'm hoping it's not just this first song that has this retro flavouring (i.e. Ovirt from Handover).

Loving the retro feel. If I remember correctly, hanDover was originally going to be 8-bit/retro sounding (beyond the vault inspired).

New album is AWESOME!! Someone at Last.fm said pretty well that it sounds like they went back 30 years in time and brought all the new shit with them. I totally agree. And I think it's great that they just keep on making a better album after the previous. Mythmaker was better than TGWOTR, Handover was better than Mythmaker and now Weapon is better than any of those. Standouts to me were wornin', illisit, salvo, solvent, paragun, tsudanama and plasicage. Not many tracks even left. Also it was funny to notice that Terminal had clearly some stuff from Masked Ball from Eyes Wide Shut:

Still no love for mid Canada. Would love for a show to be in Edmonton or Calgary. at least they do Vancouver for their hometown.

The sad thing is, it took 'em 2 decades to finally come back. For some reason they had a vendetta against Vancouver for the longest time and they stopped coming here in the 90's and 2000's. Then out of the blue for the 2009 In-Solvent-See tour they finally came back. It was a big deal at the time... Well, if you want to be technical, the show that broke the Vancouver dry spell was the OhGr show in December of 2008. That was his first time playing a show in Vancouver in something like 15-20 years, so it was a HUGE deal. It was that show that put us back on the map. Since then he hasn't skipped us on either tour with Skinny Puppy or OhGr.

Either way, super stoked about the show here, commodore ballroom is an awesome venue!

And if you really want to be technical, Calgary is actually OhGr's "official" hometown. Vancouver was just where he moved to bust into the music business and actually make it, and he did. The move worked for him.

I'm seeing this a lot lately, so I figured I'd ask... Why do people refer to Ogre as ohGr these days? I thought ohGr was just the name of his project with Mark Walk...

Not sure. He still goes by Ogre. OhGr usually implies the project and not the person.

I actually thought mythmaker was pretty sick and dark.....new album is mostly dance/club oriented..ugh..Cev seems to be big into techno these days
TBH, I prefer techno to most aggrotech/EBM/cybergoth ravey industrial crap that gets released these days, so I'm glad they didn't go down in that direction, at least. Das Noize Terror-X Infexon or whatever.

I first tried to get into SP with Bites and Last Rights back in 2001 or so (after hearing Assimilate and really loving it) , and was kind of put off. In the last year though I've gone through the entire discography and I'm finding that Last Rights is pretty well the only album I can't get into to a great extent. I don't think I was ready. Now I am. if I'd started with TDP or Rabies it'd have been a whole different story.

And for the life of me, Weapon kicks ass and I have Wornin, Paragun and Plasicage stuck on repeat.

Damn, there's some real good stuff there! Let's see... I think I want the "Guys pullover" and the "weapons tee" for sure. I'm not a hat person, but i'd even consider that hat with the logo on it, it looks awesome!

Managed to get tickets about 2 days before the Vancouver show officially sold out. I don't normally wait to buy concert tickets, but I had no idea the Vancouver show was selling that fast, as people here normally wait to buy tickets til the last minute (day of week before the event. I left it for about 2 months and then I went to buy a ticket through ticketmaster, and they were like "we're all sold out" and I was shocked. Started to panic... til I rememeberd there was a local CD store that was acting as a re-seller for the tickets too, called them up, and with my luck the guy still had a couple left. Ran down that very day to secure my tickets. Then there was the announcement like 2 days later that the show officially sold out.

You said it!! That was the highlight of the show for me! That really got me (and the rest of the crowd) moving. The whole floor was swaying back and forth, it was the most movement from everyone from the whole night, and it sucks because then the show ended. I was totally in full blown dance mode and that point and I was like YES! Can't wait to dance to more. And the show ended...

The only piece of merch I was able to snag was the Hat with the logo on it. As the t-shirt I wanted (the weapon toor tee with the blue mechanical spider) was sold out.
I had a feeling the merch I wanted was going to be sold out by my show as it was one of the last shows on the tour, and from my experience they always sell out of what I want on the end shows. Unless you're a band like NIN... They always seem to have an everlasting cardboard box of t-shirts for every day.

On that merch photo, there was also a longsleeve shirt if I recall correctly, and that wasn't there either.

The only long sleeves that were at the merch were the hoodies (zip up and pullover).

I ended up only getting the Live Shapes For Arms tour shirt (the one with the armless body on it). I wanted the zip up hoodie, but they were sold out of my size, so I just went with the shirt.

Assimilate was the most active song at the Lawrence Kansas with Worlock right behind. Other than those 2 songs, the crowd was pretty relaxed it seems. I'm more used to metal concerts and getting elbowed in the ribs every 5 seconds.

I met and took a pic with cEvin a few hours before the show too. Really chill and nice guy. He made me feel small which rarely happens as I'm 6'1. I got to speak to Ogre as well, but not for very long and he wasn't up for a pic since he was sick and we were standing out in 20 degree weather, so I don't blame him.

It was definitely a memorable show for me and a fantastic first live SP experience.

He was still sick as far back as Lawrence? http://www.litany.net/ is reporting the Seattle show got jipped of the Encore because he was sick. I thought he just came down with something after Vancouver, because he was spot on during the performance at Vancouver, and we got the full show, double encore and all. I guess that's what touring will do to do... I think being sick and having to do a live show would be the WORST thing in the world. When I get sick I lose my voice completly and am a running tap of mucus usually for weeks to a month. Whenever I get sick I am thankful i'm not famous and on tour because I don't know how they do it!!! Total respect for a musican playing a gig sick.

I know eh? They skip Vancouver for 15 years and then come back twice in the same year? Must be making up for lost time.

I hate the Vancouver venue though, it's ALL SEATS! The whole goddamn bloody thing.
This is not the type of show that should be at a seated venue... you can't dance when you are confined to your seat.

I have a feeling they did it because the last show in February took place at the Commodore Ballroom only can fit 995 people and it sold out, it was the fastest selling show on the tour, so they figured they needed a bigger venue, but Vancouver lacks decent sized mid-capacity venues that are close to the downtown core. The Queen Elizabeth theatre can seat 2929 people, which is quite alot. Not sure if there is that much demand for a show like this in Vancouver, but i'm sure they did their homework based on ticket sales and venue sizes in the area, so who am I to talk. I don't book shows.

Kind of strange that they're remastering it, but I assume it has something to do with freeing the material from SPV.

Youth Code wasn't allowed across the board for the Vancouver show, so they got left behind. But I have to say, this Skinny Puppy show has to be the best of the 3 shows i've seen. Not sure what it was, but they really nailed it on this one. I enjoyed the setlist A LOT more than the one they played earlier this year. Had a nice mix of songs spanning their discography where as the show in February focused mainly on material from Weapon. Not that I don't like Weapon, it's a great record. But last night's show was just so much better! The theatrics were pretty much the same. He wore the same outfits and stuff, but that's a minor complaint because the setlist was awesome.

Can't say for sure, but it appears the version of Welt that was released is re-recorded songs, while the original was not released due to a label blocking it. They are apparently free from this label now and can do whatever they like with the recordings :)

cEvin Key has cancer.:(
I honestly would not have found out if it wasn't for Facebook.
I guess he is too humble to mentioned it to anyone and his friends had to step in on his behalf to spread the news.
Just awful news I hope he recovers soon.

Thank you so much for all the support you have all shown me. It's kept me alive and ticking. Had some more surgery today on my upper nose and forehead where they removed the feeder tube for my face graft. I realised today I'm am partially clone as my face and nose was once my forhead. So many people ask how did this happen. It's just not watching out when in the sun, so please take care. Thankyou again so much

From his gofundme webpage that his friend set-up:
https://www.gofundme.com/cevinkeycancerfund

last month cEvin Key went for a routine skin exam and found out he had Basel cell Cancer in his face, as well as on his chest and back. The spots are very small, but upon surgery day for the facial cancer, cEvin found out that it had spread under the skin. He went into a 4 hour MOHS surgery and lost half his nose and a considerable portion of his cheek. Afterwards this was followed up by a 6 hour reconstructive surgery. Needless to say this was very unexpected and painful, also painful was recieving the bill afterward for care of $4900.00. This is not including the surgery he had today, or for the other 2 he needs to have removed. Its been a tough time, but many have offered to help, so I felt the best thing to do is make this campaign where you can support cEvin and his cancer removal. I cant tell you how much this will mean to him, as I know he was hesitant to ask for help. This could allow him to focus on his recordings and work and not be taken down by this financial worry.
We have some rewards to offer that cEvin will sign and persoanlize to you for your help. any donation 40. and above please let us know what cd you're missing from our catologue and we'll see if we can help.. ANY help is greatly appreciated and will certainly make the differance in healing. Thankyou again for your consideration.

I recently picked up the blood-red vinyl reissue of SP's Weapon; I missed out on the original press in 2013 and it skyrocketed in price quickly thereafter. Really digging this reissue though. Now if we could just get a vinyl issue of the curiously CD-only Handover..

Also, I had no idea until last month that the WELT album was finally issued on vinyl. You can get that shit brand new for dirt cheap online, if anyone's interested:

Great consistency and fun albums but does little to push envelopes or be mind melting as the 80’s/90’s output was.

Mythmaker is my favorite recent album by them.

My favorite of the post reunion albums is definitely Weapon. Nothing groundbreaking and probably the closest they'll get to sounding radio friendly but it's still a damn good album.

And if you get the chance to see to see them live, don't even think twice, just go.

I really like handover. Couldn't get into mythmaker (The second half is better imo). Weapon is pretty solid. I think ohgr scratches the itch, though, when it comes to what I really want from puppy. I miss the out there stuff.

I always found Skinny Puppy albums a little too dense to sit through for an hour. I love certain songs and the shorter EPs, but the full length albums felt like time was standing still after half an hour.

Weapon, however, won me over. The songs are solid and there's a great hooks in material that doesn't have me reaching for the skip button.

I'm certain this in blasphemy to fans of the past 30 years, and i guess that makes me some sort of lame-ass. Just an opinion from a new-er fan who didn't grow up on SP.

$2000.00 is a bit steep for one album, no matter how rare or the fact it's a promo (and essentially the only one?).

Good luck with parting on it though for a solid price.

Could be high, there's absolutely no sales data of this item to go on. I'm more than comfortable lowering to a proper market rate, there's just no data to go off of.
Could be low too, $2k isn't even close to the highest price paid for SP memorabilia. Really, all i have to go on for ultra rare Puppy stuff is Track 10 ($200-$500), Full Artwork OG Last Rights ($200-$500), Addiction 12" Stampers (Couple grand) and Back & Forth OG cassettes ($1000-$3000.)

I got this from the guy who got it from the former Nettwerk Europe employee, and it's the only confirmed copy out there. But, like i said, i'm accepting offers too, and hopefully this brings another one out of the woodwork.

I read on the Litany forums that the recent reissues were straight up terrible so I stood away:

"So you know, the Nettwerk vinyl reissues of Remission and Bites (as well as this and the upcoming CF&M) were taken from ripping the CD (NOT from the original masters) and then tossing a cheap, set-it-and-forget-it compression filter to squish the sound into the sonic range of vinyl... and then a lame EQ boost in the bass to try to give it more oomph. THAT is what they are calling 'remastered'. The end result is a record that sounds far worse in every way than the original 1986 release.
The astounding cheapness doesn't end there - the cover art is also NOT from the original artwork, it's just someone taking a scan of an original cover. The card stock its printed on is thin and cheap, also a little 'bumpy'. There is just a plain paper inner sleeve and no liner notes... or anything to make it special.

These Nettwerk reissues are, in no way, endorsed by Ogre or cEvin. They were not consulted."

With how much originals tend to go for, I certainly don't fault anybody, but figured I'd drop this in to share the info.

Also from poking around those parts, Ogre's just waiting for demos from Cevin, who's apparently pegged a few things he's done as potential SP candidates. Just a matter of time.

Guess I’m not that much of an audiophile because they have a good output sound on my system. No surface noise audible and no issues with mixing. It’s a repress and wasn’t used from masters so that’s expected. I’m not paying 500.00-1000.00 for albums.

At the Meet & Greet from last year while ohGr was on tour, I asked ohGr if SP was going to release a new record or at the very least go on a tour this year and he said that it was dependent on Cevin since he was also busy with some side projects, which turned out to be mainly Download's new album. IIRC from our chat he said the earliest we'd see them go on tour was sometime in 2020. Things change though so I wouldn't believe that to be definitive.

I assume since Download's latest album was released a few months ago, and from Facebook Cevin came back from vacation in Japan that maybe they're at the studio working on the next album.
Cevin is pretty active on FB maybe you can ask him directly and hopefully he responds.

I recently joined cevin's patreon again after having a membership a while back. just $2 a month and you have access to a shit ton of unreleased stuff from the early 80's to now. he also does some really cool live streams (showing off the studio, playing some jams...he played this AWESOME new mix of Worlock recently ) . just the other week he did a 2 hour live stream on Dwayne's 25th death anniversary with some amazing insight and stories. he also invited guests for interviews on his iive streams, like edward ka-spel, danny from tool, and next interview is Lol from the cure! (his streams are usually an hour and half to two hours) . cev's pretty active with responding to fans and questions too and put together a remix project with some of the followers on patreon.

The recent interview with cEvin and Chris Vrenna ended on a kinda sad note...

hmm...I don't think it was a sad note.

cevin also posted on his patreon this week that he just finished his new solo album. he ended his post with: "I think you guys will be very excited on the next recording project. "

i have a feeling it's new Puppy, but didn't want to announce it to take away from his solo album, and didn't want to announce it on the Vrenna interview because maybe he felt that wasn't the place to announce it/has a plan to announce it in a different way.

Or I could be totally wrong. I wouldn't be surprised if SP is done.

Noticed this mentioned over in the Hellfest thread on the NIN side of the house, but it sounds like Skinny Puppy are planning on calling it quits after a 2023 tour: https://www.facebook.com/100044255595011/posts/544885200329995/ (and are pulling out of this year's Hellfest so they can concentrate on logistics for said tour)

I'd been hoping that their Hellfest performance would be coinciding with some new music, maybe even another album, but I'm far less sure now. Would be a shame if they did hang it up, but prior to the Hellfest announcement I'd been wondering if they were already through, anyway. Anyway, here's hoping they come through the states in 2023, and that we're not all laid up with the Sigma Kappa Omega variant by then.

Sounds like cEvin had been talking about a second leg, after Justin is done playing with Thrill Kill Kult.

Really bummed about missing the Minneapolis show. I feel like ever since I went to see 3TEETH in 2018 and the show was canceled while I was taking an post road trip nap at the hotel, it's just been an endless string of shows I haven't been able to make it to/see for one reason or another.

Festivals rained out, hours suck at work, Keith Flint, the fucking pandemic,
car needs a new master cylinder, friendss/family need money, Zach de la Rochas torn ACL, crippling depression/anxiety, the list goes on. I have probably actually made it to 25% of the shows I have bought tickets for in the last 5 years. I just don't have the energy to get excited, only to get let down, anymore.

I'm gonna try one last time, I have a grip of credit with Delta I have to book by the end of the year or lose. If I have to sleep at the airport for this,, I will.

Thanks if you read this, I just need to vent.. I'm still upset about missing the NIN/Ministry in Cleveland (how many peoples favorite bands get a Fan Appreciation Day at the RRHOF? We were already planning on going there anyways and they announced that they day after we canceled, what a kick in the nuts) and missing the Minneapolis Skinny Puppy show hasn't helped either. There has obviously been others, but fuck those were my 3 favorite bands. I was so upset about NIN that I lashed out at my friends and gf for no real reason besides I was hurting, and missed Tenacious D in Minneapolis that same week, as a result. Fuck im a idiot. I know a lot of this is out of my control, and it's just adult shit alot of the time, but I'm really starting to wear thin about this.

Maybe I should start taping again? It felt like when I did, I never missed a show. Getting my own synthesizers, and a new girlfriend (finally) has also recontectialized everything in my life too, and my priorities. I dont know guys, shit just sucks lately and I have been in a rut.

And like "they" say, you are always going to regret the shows you miss, rarely will you regret the ones you dont.

(I've been to a lot of shows, some have sucked and I do regret wasting money on them. But not too many...)

I think cEvin is going to at least play an LA show. He lives here. It's silly to have a retirement tour and not play where you live. He's planning it I'm sure.

He's been talking about it on his Patreon. Chicago, LA, Vancouver and make up the Pittsburgh show. Ill do Chicago for sure, but I'm sure the demand will be higher since a lot of people passed on this first leg seem to regret it now.

Wow guys nothing about the final final leg?

Got two tickets for Chicago and I have more than enough credit with Delta to just fly out there, so I'm getting one last chance to see this band.

And since HoB is all GA, I feel like this is gonna be a much better venue to tape at than seats at the Fillmore! Not quite excited yet, but getting there.

Hello everyone - Wow, I'm back on ETS after being an avid member in the early/mid 2000's for a few years.
Feels like a lifetime ago - I guess for some on here it literally is!
I've been ghosting the forums here occasionally since that time, and I'm only surfacing again now because of Skinny Puppy...

I'm not on social media and haven't been for a long while, though it would proably be fruitless anyway even if I was.
Shame to hear about Litany, but even more so that similar to ETS it's been so long since i've been on the Litany forums and I can't even register again in it's ember-like state.

Anyway, I'm kinda scraping for scraps of information here and to ask the question: Does anyone have an actual clue what is going on?

Since Weapon and the In Solvent See Bootleg, (Quite some genuine time ago now) I don't think I'm far from the mark when I say that apart from ohGr releases and cEvin's bits and bobs, at least on the SP front, it's been insanely quiet.

When they announced (In a fairly laid back way) this 'final tour' I was a little blindsided, if I'm honest.
I'm in England so I'm just plain missing out anyway, so that was a deep sadness to me, though obviously I understand the financial and other stresses of touring that may not make it possible to tour internationally.

However, being honest I felt a little stange about the whole thing (And still do).
Communucation or updates have been basically non-existent. There's been endless rumours over the years based off what cEvin said in that interview, or on this article here or whatever but there's literally been silence for years from the SP camp.

This final tour comes and it's small, localised and without fanfare or an album behind it and still it all feels closed off.

The announcement the other day for another string of US tour dates, preceeded by a 'Big news coming' 5 days earlier only adds to the strange feeling I'm getting from all of this.

I know this all sounds like a generalised moan that the tour isn't coming my way or there doesn't seem to be an album coming; In some ways I suppose I can't argue with that but underneath I guess I'm just in the dark and my favourite band (Bar NIN, obviously) seems to just be falling off a cliff after a decade of nothing and that feels odd to me/

I don't know, I thought by now there would either be some clarity as what (if any) plans there are for the future - Are they still working on music/have they been at all for SP? Is anything coming? Is this it just for touring or generally? And if not some clarity maybe there would be an ace up their sleeve.
But, in all honesty it feels like time has run out for any announcement of an album or anything of the sort to make any sense. If one was coming, surely they'd be touring with it and releasing it alongside.
I just don't think they have anything to gain in silence and keeping us in the dark. A bit of communication over the years would have kept interest up and even bolstered this small string of shows anyway.

I'm an active fan - And though I'm not on Twitter (sorry, 'x') , Facebook etc.. it's been like getting blood from a stone getting any scraps of information over the past decade and current events don't even feel like much of an update, just a presence.

There's plenty of strain and pain the repetoire of Skinny Puppy, for many reasons - And by now I feel like i'm somewhat attunded to it.
This past decade feels off. And this 'Last Tour' , including the whole situaiton around feels even more off to me.
I'm just tired of scraping the internet for little tidbits for cEvin or on Youtube videos or facebook comments that people take to mean something it isn't.
Am I the only one thinking this way about it all?

Any clarity, from anyone in the know more than me, would brighten up this Too Dark Park i'm in. It all feels a bit strange to me.

And hello again, ETS!

Everything really went south after the Pledge Music (ohGr) disaster. As a fan, I feel hard done by and as band they obviously feel hard done by too. Bad for morale all round. There wasn't much much communication from Puppy or ohGr after that. There was the Hellfest gig they unfortunately had to pull out of. But you'd have to ask, if Youth Code could make it over, why not SP? There was the promised EU tour that of course never happened. Then 'Final Tour' gets announced and of course no dates outside of North America.

But wait....then there was the BIG ANNOUNCEMENT promised on social media.

And what was it?........more North America dates. What a crock of shit. A disappointing end to SP for those that don't live in NA.

It’s a least good to hear some of my bubbling frustration is felt somewhere else, at least.
honestly felt like the only one looking at the past few months and going “er, what? Hello?”

I’ve been so reticent to be outwardly annoyed about all of this because I don’t want to sound like an entitled moaner who thinks SP owe me anything. I’m not and I don’t.

The facts are though, that even after Dwayne’s death and the split in the 90s, less time and more information passed through the fan community before they came back - even in a time where news about anything was mostly in person, in music, comic or apparel shops and was a dedicated effort to maintain an interest in anything.

these days it’s all very convenient to the most extreme degree - and for a decade there’s been nothing.
That ohgr Pledge thing was a shitter, but SP have been through worse. But again, I don’t see the need for silence.

I do feel hard done by as a fan and as you said I’m sure the band feel hard done by.
The ‘Big news coming’ announcement in retrospect feels almost like active trolling at this point. That’s probably not the intent but to me after so much of nothing, even regarding this actual tour which came around without much fanfare or ‘hyping up’ - to then make a post like that and for it to just be more of the same.

bah, I dunno. Throw us a bone, puppy. Tell us what’s happening, even if it is literally nothing.

former litany guy here myself- hello there!
I'm also not on socials. from what I gathered, I don't think cev and ogre were on speaking terms much if at all, and kinda just did this for the cash. could be wrong though.

former litany guy here myself- hello there!

I had no idea Scott Graham, the founder of Litany had passed away in Feb 2002 (https://litany.prongs.org/index.php?topic=10027.msg646349#msg646349). As a fellow band news site nerd, he and I had emailed back and forth here and there. I remember sending him scans of a Ritalin promo photo I'd stumbled upon back way back then. That's sad news.

Sad news indeed.

I know you've never really gone away, Levi - But it's good to see you still about!

If indeed there's something interpersonal going on, I mean that's their business. I don't want to pry anymore than is required for the sake of simply having a clue as to what is actually going on.
I don't need nitty gritty details, but a decade of silence has left me the more I think about it more bitter at the distinctly weird, ethereal communication that going on now that's just about shows.

I do remember something weird a few years back, on Twitter, where Rave of all people literally called cEvin as bad as a child molester for having a GoFundMe or something similar when he had his cancer surgery. Rave removed Skinny Puppy from his bio and make some other shitty remarks - blocking people when they questioned him about it. and I only really remember this because I commented to cEvin that "He should call you, maybe" and cEvin liked it.
The whole thing was pretty bitter and unexpected. Certainly at that time I had no clue there would or could be much bad blood so close to home there.

Anyway, the more time is going on I think the very best I can hope is that the new autumn dates helps cultivate some kind of effort to give another album or something.

I'm just feeling pretty downhearted about all this, a decade of nothing and nought but a fizzle seems all that is going to be left by Puppy.
Personally speaking, I would have loved to see an all out, no holds barred, 2020'-esque Puppy album. another TGWOTR effort. Not the most popular opinion perhaps, but the prowess especially at the time was unmistakable and unmatched. I would have loved to see at least another one like it from Puppy before the end.

So is Litany having issues? It appears to still be up and it has a register option. I was on that forum around 2003 to maybe 2009, but kinda just stopped going after a while.

Mythmaker was the last album I really checked out (aside from Bootlegged, Broke and in Solvent Seas), but revisiting Mythmaker now, it's not something I feel is that good. I think I gave the last two albums a listen or two, but they didn't really grab me the way the older stuff did. TGWOTR however is still a fantastic album, not a bad song on it. I had hoped to see this last tour, but with young kids and having to drive 2+ hours away to the closest show, it just wasn't possible for me.

I remember hearing about that ohGr Pledge Music thing but wasn't really into it. I saw his tour in 2008 and met him post show, really nice guy, but since then I've just sort of moved on.

I haven't seen any interviews or anything about why this is the final tour. Have either of them really spoken about what is happening? I gather no based on the posts here. It does seem weird that they're just sort of fizzling out, but making an album can be difficult and if neither of them is really into it, then I can see that just not happening. Cevin seems to have a social media presence and the podcast thing, but ohGr seems to have always been a fairly private person, though there was that book a while back written by some fan, not sure what that was really about.

RE: Litany, Scott passed away and Litany hadn't really been updated in many years anyway. Litany as a site only relatively recently went down, though as I say it wasn't updated anyway.
supposedly Corey, who owns the site, talked about getting it back up and running but that it would take some time.
- The forums are somewhat active by a few stragglers (I would be one of them but it's been about 15 years since I last had an account on there) , but registering again is seemingly impossible - I've tried several times and admin approval never arrives.

And no, neither cEvin or Ohgr have spoken about basically anything regarding Puppy for literally years at this point, this is part of my frustration. Even though they are certainly out in the world again, the communication other than shows is still zero. We are just being told 'We are doing our final shows now' with zero context forthcoming on any sort or future or what it all means.

Honestly, bar a couple of voices on this thread and perhaps one other commentor my wife pointed out on social media (Again, I'm not on them) - I'm generally not seeing anyone else weirded out by this.
Most people online are just saying "OMG cool, come to my town" and I'm also weirded out by that alone. My wife thinks it's all a bit odd and she doesn't give a flying pig's anus about Puppy.

From band and fan sides, I don't have a clue what is happening.
