The trailer for Prometheus has leaked. (http://www.aintitcool.com/node/52085) Keep an eye out for the blatant grammatical error toward the end. Hilarious.

I can't say I'm a big fan of the Alien series, only because I don't remember them. I saw Aliens when I was little and loved it. Then I saw the third and fourth at some point a long time ago and don't remember anything about them. Never saw the first one (I know, sacrilege!) So...yeah. From an outsider's perspective, I have to say this looks pretty damn intriguing. From what I could see of it, anyway. That is the worst leak I think I've ever seen.

Is it wrong that I am kind of excited at the prospect of this movie (http://www.slashfilm.com/line-developing-earthquake-movie-san-andreas-3d-allan-loe/)? I could really give much of a crap about 3D except when it's a gimmick. Screw James Cameron and his "oh it has to only be depth and it has to be artistic and we can't have fun with it" blah blah blah crap. I want a giant earthquake and I want buildings flying at the screen and I want all the stupid cheesy stuff that could make a movie like this a lot of fun. I'd be down for a solid B movie in super ultra 3D.

Why? As cheesy as it was, it was still an awesome film.

That's because I think it was an awesome film too! It's perfect in all its cheesy glory and definitely doesn't need a remake.

And why yet another remake? Is Hollywood unable to come with an original ideas anymore? They should hire me then; I have plenty of great synopsis that are awaiting being discovered. :p

from what i understand- the film took a LOT of liberties with the book (most of which i hear were trashy and welcome), so perhaps it's a move to get closer to the source material? that's usually the only kind of remake i can stomach...

But hey, Sam Worthington is back as Perseus and I really like him. Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes are also back and I can count on them to be entertaining, at the very least. And Kronos looks badass.

"gritty reboot"? What, the original wasn't gritty enough? Fine, then let's go all out. This better be the first theatrical release featuring actual rape, the most expandable stuntmen outside of a gritty Turkish reboot of The Crow, and the intentional killing of the actor in the lead role halfway through filming.

^^Please tell me he talked to an invisible camera at all times, a la Ferris Bueller. And then one of his handlers gathered the crew around and said something like, "Listen...I know it's weird, but Mr. Broderick really does think there's someone listening to everything he's saying. It's sad, yes, but the doctors say it would be extremely harmful and possibly dangerous to break his illusion, so please just play along." And then right as she says that, you hear him in the background as he walks by, talking to himself: "Me and Mr. Rooney have been at it for almost 30 years now. Oh, Mr. Rooney, you are a worthy adversary!"

I'm at work and doing some report shit, it's a bit to type out but I'll paraphrase the insane bullshit that went on while I was working on the set in a few minutes. 01-27-2012, 10:21 AM
Alright this will be longish but worth reading for the lulz, so my friend who was a film major at a film school here (called Capilano University) in North Vancouver hooks me up with some work on the set of a Christmas movie filming around the area called Deck The Halls with Broderick and Danny DeVito. I've done extra work, etc. so I thought 'why not'. So on the 3rd day of being on set, I had yet to meet Broderick but actually met DeVito who was, and I can vouch, the NICEST DUDE EVER. He was polite, funny, and literally talked to almost everyone on set...crew, you name it. I saw him tossing cheese slices at some crew in the catering tent, a jokester. Awesome dude. Anyways, I was helping one of the crew with rounding up some camera cables on abouuuut, the 3rd-ish day on set. My friend Zack who got me on the set (he's the one who works on Fringe now, you might've seen pics I've posted from on set, that's how I get on lol) was a PA (prod. assistant, basically crap gopher work). The scene was a snowball fight between Broderick and DeVito so my friend's job was literally to stand by with a portable hair dryer, warming a roll of paper towels so he could hand them to the actors after the take (sounds weak but it was cold as hell, at night, and like 20 takes in...I can imagine your hands would be numb as hell).

So he's sitting there warming the paper towels, but lo and behold it was the Head PA's job originally, a guy who's been on movies with Broderick and a bunch of the crew before, but HE had to go do something else so he handed the shit to Zack. After the scene wraps the first take, Zack runs up, 'here you go Mr. DeVito' and I'm literally 20 ft. away. 'Thanks kid.' He runs to Broderick. 'Here you are, Mr. Broderick.' Broderick literally spins around to face him, grabs Zack by the neck of his shirt, and literally inches from his face, screams WHO THE MOTHERFUCK ARE YOU. WHO ARE YOU. My friend obviously freezes and probably shits himself as Broderick literally screamed it as loud as possible. You could hear it across town. '...uh, uh I'm Zack, I'm a PA. I'm part of the crew, uh uh...' Broderick screams again. WHO. THE. FUCK. ARE. YOU. YOU'RE FIRED. And lets him go. He was literally screaming at the top of his lungs, it was nuts. His face was red. Some of the crew rush in, including the Asst. Director and my friend's murmuring to them 'Don't fire me please! I work here! I have a staff badge. I'm a PA' etc. etc.

A few handlers help Broderick away, probably to his trailer like he's fuckin' Bono from U2 being led to his helicopter or some shit...my friend's shitting his pants. The Asst. Director tells him (again I can hear it all) 'Don't worry, that's just him. You can't look at him in the eye unless he knows you or he's worked with you on set before, you'll be fine.' My friend Zack is like 'w.t.f.' He continues to tell Zack that after Broderick made all his money, he was vacationing in Ireland and killed a lady and her mom in a head on car wreck (we had never known this up to that point, again this was like...early 2005ish? Before the times of Wikipedia or IMDB) and ever since he was sort of....off kilter so to speak.

So yeah, he might be sane NOW, but I saw this happen. He was deeply, deeply insane. For the rest of the shoot he would come off as a completely normal human, but apparently everyone, and now including my friend and I, knew that he's actually probably a lunatic. And don't get me started on Kristin Davis (from Sex and The City) who played Broderick's wife and the day she wouldn't come out of her trailer until someone brought her cotton candy. Seriously. A full grown woman who wouldn't work until someone brought her cotton candy. Cotton. Candy. Fuckssakes.

Alright this will be longish but worth reading for the lulz...

Reading stuff like this I always wonder...at what point do those people lose all sense of reality, of perspective? The actors that behave like dictators on the set, those who terrorise the crew, or those who come with insane demands (like a crate full of bottled water from the fountain of youth of Tlacopan and/or a pair of Hungarian ceremonial horses as their butlers or whatever) and have fits if those demands are not satisfied...I have to believe they were not like this from the start. Is there a point where they go *click* and suddenly they feel entitled to godhood? I mean, it's one thing to be an arrogant dick, I can accept that, but to go all berserk on account of ridiculous stuff (like that cotton candy example, or Broderick's insane reaction), that thing really confounds me.

The thing that blows me away, is as insane as the things I saw on that set, I bet you a billion dollars that's NOTHING compared to some of the shit that goes down on sets with the big stars. It's the Britney Spears syndrome...what I always say is that yeah like you said, a lot of people were like that to begin with. Take 1,000 people off of the street. Now give them access to shitloads of money, drugs, parties, etc. etc. and have a bunch of 'yes men' telling them how great they are. How many of that 1,000 people will just go bonkers? Probably a pretty high percentage.

I've been on a few other sets, been an extra on Caprica, been on the set of Fringe...everyone on those sets were literally the NICEST people (especially the Fringe crew/cast) but all it takes is one big star that's a maniac lol.

This looks interesting

http://trailers.apple.com/trailers/independent/thesnowtownmurders/

Based on horrifying crimes discovered in Snowtown, Australia in 1999, THE SNOWTOWN MURDERS is Justin Kurzel's directorial debut, a stark journey into a brutal subculture of suspicion, addiction and violence. Winner of the Special Jury Prize at Cannes' Critics Week, the film follows Elizabeth Harvey (Louise Harris), a mother raising her three boys in a poor suburb. After her latest boyfriend displays pedophilic tendencies, she takes up with a new man, hoping for security but instead welcoming an even more vicious predator into her home. John Bunting (Daniel Henshall) is the moral compass of a self-appointed neighborhood watch who, fueled by cigarettes and beer, cast judgments on those living around them. Bunting enlists his crew in acts of sadistic vigilantism on those he considers deviants, and in the process takes Elizabeth's son Jamie (Lucas Pittaway) under his wing. THE SNOWTOWN MURDERS is an uncompromising film focused on the relationship between vulnerable teenager and a father figure who is revealed to be the worst kind of bully.

^^^ let me do some creative quoting, this movie came up in the "What Are You Watching" thread:

Snowtown.

Bleak. Brutal. Worth watching. I think one of the most uncomfortable things is the way it involves the viewer. 'What would you do?'.

I loved Snowtown. I think its the mixture of high camp and pure melodrama that make it so harrowing.

this looks strikingly similar to Animal Kingdom, which i loved! on my list as well!

so i've been wondering, why can't we get these kind of high quality indie crime/social drama movies in the US? i've seen quite a few non-American movies (UK, Spain, Iceland, Australia, Denmark) with some great depth, and the closest to these kind of movies was Red State (which unfortunately kind of missed the depth train by trying too hard to be over the top. i still liked it though).

i know movies outside of the US are typically funded in part by the government, so there seems to be a lot more focus on artistry and social commentary.

Snowtown (to be released as "The Snowtown Murders" in the US. LOL) was the best film i've seen since Shame. WOW. Had to buy the soundtrack too. And i need to watch it again with subtitles. Especially loved how it respected the audience's intelligence (similar to McQueen's Hunger). The US trailer, on the other hand, explains the story. LOL

Sorry US directors, but you're sort of falling behind in the art department. Maybe you need government subsidies like all those other countries?

I actually watched this too on Sunday.... bleak and brutal are the best two words for it. I'm very unfamiliar with the real-life case, so reading up on it afterward filled in a few blanks. Very hard to recommend this film even though I appreciated it; not a movie I'd say I "enjoyed," but it had me captivated.

I'm not sure about the "high camp" comment above, but everything else said is pretty accurate.

Ghostbusters 3 was doomed. After all, what was the last great thing Dan Aykroyd did? Plus, the expectations for a third film would not be met considering how revered the first one was. Plus, we should remember that the only reason Bill Murray even did Ghostbusters in the first place was so he can get money to fund a remake of The Razor's Edge that he was starring in while doing a favor for Dan Aykroyd since the Peter Venkman character was supposed to be played by John Belushi.

Wow, that sounds horrible. I grew up with TMNT, the cartoon series and the live action movies. My childhood is dead. Thanks Bay.

While this sounds atrocious, in fairness to Bay, there are a ton of ways they could go about this.

If you remember, in the comics, as well as animated series, there were tons of space story lines. Several including Turtles in space suits, Donatello with the black mask from another timeline, Ralph had some cool spin off journeys, the Neutrinos, the list goes on and on. There were also some really cool villans introduced.

So while I'm sure its not the story we all want (something closer to the original film I'd think is the popular fan consensus), its still possible they could do something cool with it, especially if they just sort of skip the origin story element of it and get right into it. Dimension X, Krang, bringing an army to earth, etc. If anything, since Bay has his hands on it, I'd rather them go this route since at least it's his field of "expertise" (say what you want I actually liked Armageddon). He would be much better producing some kind of epic alien invasion turtle story than he would a dark, gritty, story about sewer ninjas with their own personal problems. There is at least a chance of the former being a decent summer blockbuster "event", absolutely zero if they tried to do the latter.

Also keep in mind he is presumably not directing it, so at the end of the day it's going to come down to someone else's vision, hopefully someone with more of a love for the franchise than him.

So yeah, I'm skeptical, and this certainly would not be the way I would develop the film, but will keep an open mind at least until I see a trailer. Imagine a transformers styles trailer with the technodrome just ripping up downtown New York and an invasion of Rock Soldiers laying waste to everyone? Sounds at least mildly cool, no?

Sadly I doubt we ever get the film that we deserve, in the vein of Chris Nolan's Batman or what Aronofsky's Wolverine would have been, for lack of better examples, however if Bay was to do this film this way, and it exceeded expectations box office wise, sold a lot of toys, etc. that MIGHT renew the franchise to the point where a studio could have more confidence in giving another director with some actual talent a little bit of freedom to make something much darker and grittier the next time around. OR more likely, they'd just get greedy and make a sequel like Revenge of the Fallen *sigh*

Regardless, the way out is through. If Bay ruins this, it will be the last Turtles live action film ever. So our only hope as fans is to blindly support this until further notice unfortunately. THINK POSTIVE!

Haven't really seen anything he's in yet aside from a couple pix and a few commercials but so far I'm FULLY supportive of this casting.

Same goes for the choice of director, actually.

The original is one of my all-time favorite films and so far I'm almost shocked that they seem to be making excellent choices with the remake...although I'd still love to know what Aronofsky had in mind, too.

REALLY fucking excited about this movie.

Anyone who knows anything about the original runs of the TMNT comics and even the original cartoon already knows about the origins of the Techno Cosmic Research Institute, so I'd like to think he's alluding to that same, original TCRI/ooze/TMNT origin story we should all know and love.

And even if he isn't then it should likewise be noted that the "worst-case-scenario" everyone seems to be flipping out about -- ALIEN TURTLES?!? -- isn't truly quite as much of a departure from their original origin story as Bay-haters would have you believe.

Come on, guys. Think it through.

Plus, even if Bay's not into the Dinobots so much, this already suggests excellent story potential for the Triceratons to likely be included in the reboot, so I'm all for it. That whole storyline was awesome and I loved it when they suddenly took the turtles from their grim & gritty city setting to all that fantastic sci-fi insanity.

Yup. In my opinion it's been hit-and-miss, but the two double-lengthers which comprised the second season were a great watch. Some of the narrative points stretch credulity, but the show's carried by its performances... well, one performance really. Idris Elba is the ideal lead, he combines a hulking, charismatic physical presence with sensitivity and a knack of absolutely nailing emotional tone. We already knew that from The Wire, but yeah, he's amazing.

Personally I found it more watchable than Sherlock, especially during the second season, in which the long-episode format suited that show nowhere near as well as Luther (largely thanks to the latter's stories being more easily followable).

Sorry but I don't think that's a good idea. Let's be honest here, the Farrelly Brothers hasn't made a very watchable movie since Me, Myself, & Irene and The Three Stooges looks like it will be their nadir. Still, I don't know how they could top The Heartbreak Kid which was truly one of the worst movies I had ever seen.

theruiner
04-01-2012, 11:23 PM
I can't say their movies are bad now only because I haven't seen them (I completely lost interest in them after Me, Myself and Irene). I honestly don't think I've seen a single one of their movies in the past twelve years or so. And nothing they've done has looked even remotely watchable (let alone good) in that time and all their movies since then have almost universally been panned, so it seems like they just suck now.

That being said...Dumb and Dumber is one of my top five favorite movies, and it holds a special place for me because I've loved it since it first came out (when I was eleven) and it's become a sort of idolized movie for my best friend and I. So I'm sure all of that is kind of clouding my judgment a bit, but I really am excited to see this. I'm hoping maybe they can pull it together for this one. I don't even expect it to be great or as good as the first one; if they can just pull off good I'll be more than happy. If they manage to pull off great then I'll be over the moon.

Dumb and Dumber 2 (I'm just going to pretend the original sequel didn't exist) begins filming in September!!! (http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=88661)

This is unbelievable. I've always wanted a true Dumb and Dumber sequel. Take this however you want, but this is the only comedy sequel I would want more than Bill & Ted 3 (which does have a script apparently).

I'm with theruiner here - the original is my one of my top comedies ever (at least top 3), and despite the brothers not doing anything good a long time, it's impossible for me not to be excited about this. I think the first Dumb and Dumber is unquestionably the Farrellys' best film (which has their best character leads), so the fact that they wanted to do it, Jeff Daniels wanted to do it, and of course Jim Carrey now wants to do it, is more than enough to convince me that this will be a worthwhile venture. The interest of those 3 parties is essential, and it's there.

I've dreamt of this day. Jim Carrey has changed so much since the first one that it's hard to remember how fucking brilliant he is in it. On par with his performance in Eternal Sunshine. Daniels is no slouch either obviously, especially considering how great a dramatic actor he is. Those 2 together again, as Harry and Lloyd, is just amazing... to say the least.

Never liked any of the recent movies or the spin-offs but I've always enjoyed the Karloff film.

Obviously it'll probably hew closer to what they've done recently considering how much money those films have made, but considering they're rebooting it instead of just continuing with lame sequels and spin-offs I think it has a lot of potential.

Especially with one of the writers of Prometheus attached.

I'll remain cautiously optimistic and hopeful about this one for now.

Tucked into a story at The Economist about James Cameron working with China on his Avatar sequels, there's this:

From the article: (http://www.economist.com/blogs/analects/2012/04/international-film-industry)
Mr Cameron suggests that by the time “Avatar 3” is released later this decade, China may well rival America as the top movie market. That may be a stretch, but then just wait till “Avatar 4”; Mr Cameron calls it a possibility. He says he has stopped producing non-Avatar films or even considering non-Avatar scripts. “I’m in the Avatar business. Period, that’s it. I’m making ‘Avatar 2’, ‘Avatar 3’, maybe ‘Avatar 4’,” he says. “I think that within the Avatar landscape, I can say everything I need to say that I think needs to be said, in terms of the state of the world and what we should be doing about it.”

...which I think is kind of weaksauce, but okay, I can see where he's coming from, and while I didn't like Avatar the guy's at least doing something very near and dear to his heart trying to make this a better world, somehow, and as long as he's pumping money into cool expensive things like private space ventures (http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-205_162-57419801/asteroid-mining-venture-backed-by-james-cameron-google-ceo-larry-page/), I don't even mind his treatment of the artform as shiny commercial product for the generation of huge amounts of wealth. But I hope that if he's serious about the "state of the world and what we should be doing about it" stuff he'll at least try plotting the sequels in something stronger than primitive and shallow caricatures.

“I’d actually seen a painting by an artist named Kirby Sattler, and looked at the face of this warrior and thought: That’s it… The stripes down the face and across the eyes … it seemed to me like you could almost see the separate sections of the individual, if you know what I mean… There’s this very wise quarter, a very tortured and hurt section, an angry and rageful section, and a very understanding and unique side. I saw these parts, almost like dissecting a brain, these slivers of the individual… It just so happened Sattler had painted a bird flying directly behind the warrior’s head. It looked to me like it was sitting on top. I thought: Tonto’s got a bird on his head. It’s his spirit guide in a way. It’s dead to others, but it’s not dead to him. It’s very much alive.”

I just saw this bit of news. What I find scary about this is that I remember the time not long ago (in the 90s) when having an opening weekend of 40-50 millions was huge and when breaking the $100 millions in the USA alone was considered a big hit.

First trailer for Argo, the new Ben Affleck movie:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OxiLZ24gPDA

It's about how the Canadians helped getting 6 U.S. diplomats out of Iran in 1980, right in the middle of the hostage crisis. I can't wait to see this movie for the following reasons:

1) It's based on a true story and I really like those.
2) Because I'm very old, I actually remember when this happened. I remember how proud it made me feel about being Canadian because they were saying on the news that we did something that was really extremely badass.
3) I can't wait to see if Affleck and his writers/producers have spin this as being "the CIA did all the work and oh yeah, the Canadians did a couple of things here and there too". The highly cynical part of my brain is convinced that's how the movie will go.

The GI Joe delay is for reshoots. Apparently test audiences didn't like how the movie went (Channings character dies early and they wanted more of his great acting skill) so, in true Hollywood fashion, they're gonna take the safe route and change the movie. This means its going to be forced and probably worse than it already was. The director seems to not even have been consulted on it.

Also, CHUD claims the ITAN sequel is just a publicity stunt to bring attention to that guys internet TV network.

I was very skeptical about this for a long time, and actually slightly against them even continuing without Damon. After seeing the first trailer, however, I decided it might actually be an ok movie. Then I saw on CHUD (which is the only movie site I trust) that Legacy seems to do a nice job of tying the story to the previous installments, while having a story of its own. After seeing this second trailer, now, I'm still skeptical about it. I just watched him grind a motorcycle down a handrail. I can't decide if that is badass or them just not having anything else unique enough to include after the thrill ride of the last three. I'm going to see it, but I don't expect it to blow me away.

http://www.shortlist.com/entertainment/films/stephen-kings-it-to-be-made-into-two-films

A few days ago we reported that Morgan Creek and Roy Lee were planning to produce a TV series remake of The Exorcist, written and directed by Martha Marcy May Marlene‘s Sean Durkin. Since the story broke on Vulture it’s unclear what the original source was, but we’ve just received a message from William Peter Blatty, who wrote the original novel and screenplay, assuring us that the rumours are “utterly false”. According to Blatty, it would be impossible for Morgan Creek to produce the show as the rights still belong to Blatty himself.

Interestingly, it seems that Blatty and The Exorcist director William Friedkin are planning to do something with those rights, which means that we might still see an Exorcist TV show with the original creators behind it. In the same message, Blatty states that the 2009 announcement of a miniseries written and directed by himself is still a potential plan, though not one that has come to fruition yet.

Friedkin and I have a new miniseries remake script that we hope will one day be picked up.

Either the Durkin miniseries was just a false story, or it’s a real plan and we’re about to see the beginning of a rights dispute. Personally I’m rooting for Blatty and Friedkin’s version to get made, and for Blatty to once again cast Brad Dourif in a villain role. You can never have enough Dourif.

Salvation was horrible, not worthy of the franchise. Neither was T3.

Tempting to say they need Cameron helming the ship to keep it away from icebergs, but personally I thought the Sarah Connor Chronicles series was amazing while it lasted. One thing's for sure, having Schwarzenegger isn't going to make one iota of difference, aside from grabbing a little more attention. Summer Glau did a better job of the guardian robot in my humble opinion.

Interesting note though: "It does follow 'Salvation' - although some of the producers and franchise owner were not too happy about the job McG did with it, but they felt it was good enough to continue on and they want the fifth and sixth installments to be the closing of the franchise." Quoted from Arnie, apparently.

Don't forget all the huge fuck-off monsters. There was something always unsettling about riding alongside a beast that was the size of a tall building.
Of course I won't, but the thing is, how are you going to make the riding sections to the colossi entertaining to mainstream audience?

Salvation was horrible, not worthy of the franchise. Neither was T3.

Terminator 3 in my opinion has always been severely underrated. Its nowhere near as good as the first two, but compared to Rise of the Machines.....
Something really melancholic and sparse and eerie about it. Its like this dark journey into the abyss.....The action sequences were stunning, i really liked Nick Stahl and Clare Danes too.
Only problem was the female terminator, she didnt feel or look right. The whole project had this sort of depressed vibe like the producers knew it hadnt really come together.....but they were giving it the best shot anyway.
And under the circumstances they diid a rather good job....i would give it a 7.5/10......

Hated what McG did on Rise of the Machines with a passion, almost as bad as Transformers 2 .Harry Knowles review summed it.
That scene were Sam Worthington plays the Alice in Chains song Rooster, my Jaw was on the floor 'what the fuck were they doing'!
I felt some of the critics were not scathing enough at the time... it deserves more hate.
It was one of the worst Blockbusters i have ever seen.

Anything McG does as a filmmaker is shit. Terminator: Salvation is truly one of the worst films ever.

I'd imagine they'd have to tie in some sort of character, that educates the Hero about the certain Colossi that he is about to face.

Other than that, always go for a RIDING MONTAGE!!!

Not really sure if this is exactly news but here's the first picture of Angelina Jolie as Maleficent. (http://www.comingsoon.net/imageGallery/Maleficent/large/hr_Maleficent_1.jpg) I'm curious about this movie now.

Words cannot express my disappointment. This probably won't sink in until a few days from now when I'll burst into tears and die of sadness.

That Bill & Ted sequel better fucking happen now. It's the only thing that could come close to filling the hole in my heart.

Yeah, it's a huge bummer.

I have read some speculation that Carrey is bluffing in order to get more money out of WB. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed that that's all it is and the movie will still happen. I'm cautiously optimistic.

It would have been great if Clint Eastwood was cast as Dredd Sr.
Either that, or have a family photo of Clint somewhere in Dredd's apartment/house. Maybe a scene where Dredd picks up the photo and starts talking to it, searching for direction from his father.

That trailer has no substance in it. Disappointing.

However, it's interesting to see Lena Headey (or Cersei Lannister from 'Game of Thrones') as a villain in this.

It was good to see Olivia Thirlby do some ass-kicking but I don't know. She needs to go back to indies. Fortunately, I am writing a project for her.

Is there an online petition to show support for Dumb and Dumber 2? We're too close for it to just be dead in the water so quickly.

In other news, much like Machete, Machete Kills seems to be compiling an absolutely absurd cast (http://www.totalfilm.com/news/charlie-sheen-joins-machete-kills) that includes Charlie Sheen as the President of the United States, and Mel Gibson as a drug lord, not to mention unspecified roles for Zoe Saldana and Edward James Olmos. Good lord.

Remember that news story that came out awhile back about these people posing as cops who called a fast food place and had the manager strip search one of the employees? Really scary how people can be manipulated.

Well, they made a movie inspired by that story, and I have to say, it looks like it might be really good. Trailer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=WdONydDX44I)

I wouldn't say he explicitly had an idea for Inland Empire, either. Didn't he film that fucker without a script? Just random ideas that he got during the process and assembled them together into a non-narrative is how I thought that went. Oh wait, he did the idea for the plot of "a woman in trouble," which is about as vague as you can possible get.
