I have recently gotten into this man's music, collected all of it including vinyl and the newly released box set.

I can say with up-most compassion to music that this guy is the best artist I've ever heard. If you haven't heard of him or kept up with him, high recommendations are given.

Strapping Young Lady's City is an all-time classic. Don't really have the patience for his other stuff. He's very talented though.
An underrated Devin gem I dig is Steve Vai's Sex & Religion, which Devin did vocals for in 1993.

I once met Devin and told him that was my favourite release of his...he was amused.

One of my influences on me playing guitar. The man is a genius at his craft. I loved DTp and cannot wait what he has in store for his carnival that is coming. Meaning he wants to play everything he has ever done. Meaning we could see a 1 night reunion of SYL.

Plus the dude is funny as hell.

Detox is one of my all time favorite songs.

I've tried several times to get into his solo material and Strapping Young Lad but I can't get into it. Also, his skullet is pretty noticeable and recognizable by a mile away.

He actually shaved it off 5 years ago.

My current favorite is Ocean Machine. "The Death of Music" is just plain beautiful.

He is a genius. I love everything he's ever done, especially SYL and the incredible Devin Townsend Project. His solo albums and Devin Townsend Band stuff are a bit hard for me to get into for some reason, but that will probably change through repeated listens. I spoke to him briefly via a Yowie chat session. He's a very cool guy.

I too am a new fan of this awesome, awesome man. I'm talking a few months here, got Deconstruction and just fell in love with it. Slowly working my way back and everything just seems to be awesome.

Saw him at Soundwave recently too, such an awesome show. Funny as hell with his Ziltoid antics. That song above that is supposedly due to be on Epicloud is amazing too.

September 18th can not come soon enough. I also have VIP tickets for the Dallas show on the 12th. I think I just crapped my pants.

very much looking forward to it, though. i know it'll be genius like the rest of his work (save the occasional SYL song).

Sex & Religion is a great album. Not very big on Vai's stuff but when he has a singer (or he himself singing) he can put out some amazing stuff.

Any DT fans willing to give me and seasonsinthesky a hand?

We have created the Devin Townsend Wiki (http://hevydevy.wikia.com)! We want to make it the most comprehensible and detailed database for all things Devin Townsend. Currently many of its articles are lifted from Wikipedia, but we wrote many others ourselves, and we want it to be less of a Wikipedia clone and more of its own thing, just like... you guessed it, the holiest of all grails, NINwiki! So, if any fans would like to help us make this wiki awesome, let us know!

We have posted a list on things that need to be done (http://www.hevydevyforums.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=12026) on the official DT forum. Let's do this!

If you go to his website and click on discography he has a bit of info and does a small review on each of his releases. That info could be added to the wiki. I'll gladly help out when I can.

We've already added these, along with many other precious anecdotes from the liner notes (the ones for C:Enter:### always have me in stitches). We'll be very glad to have you on board!

Devin Townsend thread.

Let's discuss everything Devin-related. DTP, SYL, COC, DTB and everything else!

I wrote a big post earlier, but my browser decided to crash just the second before i was ready to submit it :\

If you don't want to just chat about this bald crazy canadian guy, i have two questions:
1. What is your favorite album?
2. What is your favorite song?

For me it's eaither Transcendence (it's almost something religious. Like heavy metal gospels) or Ocean machine. And the song is... "Flight" by Casualties of Cool. I decided to pick this one a moment ago. I don't know why. It just speaks to me. It's like dreampop+indietronica stuff (like Tunng). I just like it.

P.S. I really wish TR would work with Devin one day. At least on a few songs. But i know it's almost impossible. It looks like the only "superband" we had was Tapeworm and this one-shot Grohl/Homme/Reznor project (tbh i didn't liked it at all)... Oh, and this brief time when they played with Peter Murphy.

Ooooh. Last post was like... a year ago. That's why i couldn'd find it, i guess... Whatever. Even if i did find it, i'd rather started this new thread, hate necroposting. Doesn't changed anything.
