My favorite is local guys Umphrey's McGee (based in Chicago, but originally out of South Bend), who have been at it over 20 years now. They recently remixed what I think is their best record, Anchor Drop, a turning point that got them more attention nationally as a jam powerhouse.

One group I am becoming a little more familiar with is TAUK. They are an instrumental group, who have played several shows with UMG, often jamming together. It's very keyboard-based and a little more jazzy than rock but the guitar does make it's presence known.

A jam band thread? I love you...

Umphrey's is amazing. Hailed as the "successors" to bands like Grateful Dead, Phish, and moe., these guys bring the goods every set (Summer Camp is 4-5 sets of UM). Ryan and Jake are huge NIN fans, which culminated in a tribute set to NIN at Summer Camp 2018:

I really enjoy EOTO and Yonder Mountain String Band.

Brainchild and Family Groove Company are family, as I went to school with most of the guys. On a folk front, Chicago Farmer and Jaik Willis are buddies.

I got into some of these groups listening to a show on our NPR station which plays a lot of jammy stuff as well as jazz, r&b and classic rock deep cuts.

Gov't Mule has been around a long time, and I'm more familiar with their stuff which maintains a quality all it's own apart from their influences. Warren Haynes is equally lauded as a guitarist, vocalist and songwriter and stands pretty tall in the jam community for those reasons and more.
