You should have sent some that 110 degree weather up here! This summer was one of Vancouver's worst on record. We were the only city in Canada that didn't have the heatwave, instead we got buckets and buckets of rain. We didn't have the sun for almost all of July, which is virturally unheard of here. July is usually our warmest and sunniest month. I hate the cold and rain so much. We get 10 months of it here, I love 85-100 degree weather so much!

I can't STAND snow! I'm hoping and praying for a green christmas this year...
That's not too hard to accomplish here in Vancouver, the home of the rain. But latley it's been colder then normal here. Normally it's around 6 degrees C and raining this time of year, but the whole month so far as been sunny and cold, between -2C and 3. Hopefully we can hold out the next 11 days with no snow.

I'd be happy if vancouver had a no snow 2011-2012 winter season at all, we always seem to get 1 or 2 freak snowstorms. usually in late november or beginning of december, then early feburary and mid march. We seemed to have by-passed the freak snowstorm so far...

And that my friend is why I moved from Winnipeg to Vancouver 5 years ago.
Winnipeg is the home of 6 months of brutal winter, with temperatures dipping down to -50C in the dead of winter with 6 feet of snow from December til April.

Vancouver is Canada's "California" or as close to it as it's ever going to get. Trust me, if we could all just get up and migrate to California, Hawaii or Australia we would, least I know I would, can't speak for the whole country, but obtaining living/working visa's and becoming a permanent resident of another country is no easy task.

Honestly, I just want snow in December and January, and then beyond that it can fuck off.

Also, I only commute by foot or bus everywhere. Never owned a car in my life. So that factors in to me not hating snow. ;)

Pouring rain is still better than snow though. There were some snow scares in the forecast for this weekend, but I think they have been lifted. Chance we might still see something tomorrow, but it won't stay. Next week has highs between 6-8 and rain.

When it gets as cold as it has been the last couple days it really makes me miss pouring rain and +10. It's also fun to compare our weather to the rest of Canada this time of year. That always brings a smile to my face, me being from Winnipeg and all.

But yeah, I don't like pants or jackets. I like shorts and maybe a longsleeve shirt and that's my perfect outfit, hate wearing hoodys and jackets and 5 shirts just to stay warm.

There are 2 months that I look forward to in the year. July and August. Once they are over and the rain returns I say "damn, only 10 more months til good weather" But 2012 had a pretty nice summer extention well into mid October, so I got to extend my shorts season til then and cut down the "shitty" months. What is it now... end of January, almost February? just 5 more months til good weather! LOL

It's been a little schizo here lately. Just last week it reached up into the upper 70's on Thursday, but by Saturday morning there was some snow on the ground. Looks like it's another cold one tomorrow but the 10-day forecast has it warmer from then on out hopefully. The Weather Channel had it's summer forecast in and it said that temps would be below normal in the areas surrounding the Great Lakes. I'm all for it if we just get highs in the 60's to 70's. Just hope it doesn't rain all season, floods are getting crazy as it is around here.

We usually get a pretty full summer here on the Island, it's just Vancouver & the lower mainland that get drenched 11 months a year. Even last month was pretty damn hot. Yesterday was the most rainfall Toronto's ever had in a single day. Hundreds of passengers were stranded on a commuter train for hours up to their ankles in overflowing river runoff, with a water snake swimming onto a car with them at one point. Massive power outages still happening today. The theatre festival where I'm working had to cancel a bunch of shows as a result and the subway and other transit is still affected. Yeah, fuck the weather.

True. Anywhere, the first snow it's as if we all forgot how to drive in the stuff.

I, like an idiot, thought I could drive a rear wheel drive car on ice that had not been treated with sand, salt or a plow. Here's the video (http://www.wisn.com/massive-wisconsin-pileup-caught-on-camera/-/9374034/23398806/-/gpsil0z/-/index.html)!! Wtf.

It was apparently snow AND ice, because it was, like, 20 degrees outside. A lot of those morons were obviously NOT PAYING ATTENTION to all the brake lights ahead, speeding and texting or some shit.

I was driving home to Chicago from Detroit and was on the Dan Ryan when it had been snowing for about an hour. The freeway at that point was clear, but it was a total parking lot. The radio reports were telling people to stay ON the freeways in Chicago because the side streets were dangerous. I am not sure why, snow + ice I guess, because there was barely any snow on the ground, yet, as far as I could tell.

I don't care WHAT kind of vehicle you have, you can't drive on ice. I was on I-94 somewhere around Battle Creek late at night, heading toward Chicago, when BLACK ICE appeared out of nowhere. I knew something was up when truckers started REALLY slowing to a crawl and then pulling off onto the shoulder, and then I started seeing people in the ditches, and then I saw a STATE COP CAR in a ditch, holy crap "white knuckle" does not describe it. And when it's really cold, NOTHING works on ice. Sand doesn't do shit, salt doesn't melt it.

This exact thing happened to me last Sunday morning. I looked over to the other side of the interstate and wondered aloud "why are the cars over there going so slow?" Then I saw a pickup on its roof, down the gulley in between the north and south roads. Ahhhh, I think I'll slow down now. Found out later there was a 65 car pile up further south. Bullet dodged.

This cold shit is overhyped. At least in ND, MN. People act like it's never been -20 makes no sense. And this wind chill buisness is funky as well. I got of work it was -9, -26 or something with windchill. So basically there was a 6 mph wind, which here in fargo essentially means no wind. Now I realize that on windy day that shit really fucking sucks, bad. It really wasn't that bad and certainly didn't "feel" like -20 something. More media hype bull shit. Also if you drive, I don't, and you are wearing a face mask shoot yourself.

I'd like to offer some advice and a reminder for people to be extra cautious when driving in cold weather conditions.

Please for the love of god remove the snow from your roof of you car as well as removing the snow/ice from the head lights and rear wind screen and hood. I couldn't believe how many people neglected to do this while driving on the roads here in Missouri. I now its been cold the past couple of weeks but its just down right stupid to put you life and other peoples life in danger because you're too stupid and or lazy to use your fucking common sense.

Also make sure you have deicer for you windshield wipers and make sure you have anti-freeze NOT WATER in your radiator.

I saw a guy pull into a local auto-zone store to purchase some deicer. When he went to turn on his car all you could hear was the car dying and you could see black smoke coming from the radiator tubes. Obviously the radiator was full of ice because the water froze. A sad mistake that can kill your engine for good.

Also people seem to forget that if your going on the high way at 60mph with a wind chill below zero your windscreen is going to get cloudy because you have the heater on inside the car. This causes humidity to build up on the inside and outside of your windshield which reduces your visibility. If you use you windshield wiper fluid and defroster/heater you can avoid losing visibility .

/end rant
Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Born, raised and still living in Vermont. But somehow, this winter has me rethinking why I live up here. Maybe summer and fall will change that like it usually does. You and me both. Now, I understand why people become "snow birds"

Dam it, I need to win the lottery.

I mentioned this to my husband. But his response - (we are an interracial couple) - 'we'd never survive in the South'.

All these old ladies from the fitness classes I teach are down in Florida right now. But I guess they're probably not enjoying much sunny warm weather.

Me? I'm just happy to not see negative number temperatures. Last week one day started at -26F, then got up to -16F and my husband says 'wow you can really tell the difference when it warms up to -16F'. Um.

I think you would "survive" the south. It's not 1963.

Right now it's 35, cloudy and dry here in Smyrna, GA as we await for the cold and ice where we might not have any power for tomorrow. I've been through an ice storm before. It was bad but it could've been worse.

Since the start of the year we've had 10 days that were over 42C (107.6F) and a bunch of minimum temps of 30C (86F) at night. There's a lot of rain coming tomorrow though. Wish I didn't live in a tin shed...

The weather service here is calling for 6-8 inches of snow - which is a lot for this area. They are shutting down the university at 12pm today so I am going to try to stock up on the sushi and chick-fil-a sandwiches I can.

Despite Vancouvers notorious amount of rain being absent this year, I'd rather have the rain come back instead of this fucking -5ºC shit we've had recently. With rain I can put my hood up and be fine but with this fucking cold I have to put on a whole extra layer if I want to walk anywhere further than 3 or 4 blocks. Damn near froze my fingers off walking 5 minutes to Subway the other day.

I haven't taken my hoodie off except to shower and work and occasionally wash it, my hat usually stays on as well. I've tried really hard to not cry about this shitty shitty fucking cold shitty winter but not it's almost ? past i feel i can finally vent a bit. It's been tough to keep quiet when i see people crying about the cold on my fb who i know drive. I don't drive i walked the whole time and i didn't bitch as much, though it's probably cause i couldn't breathe the frigid air. I don't know when my hand nearly freezes solid through from trying to light a smoke in those few short seconds its simply too fucking cold. 50+ days of subzero temps can really and truly kiss my ass.
