I know. I know. This pretty much veers off into Nickelback territory on Echoing the Sound. (Not to mention, anybody that's known about/of me here long enough, knows that I've already done so much worse.) :p

However, Puddle of Mudd has actually become one of my favorite bands to listen to in autumn and winter. It just seems to give me the perfect vibes for those particular seasons/climates, and I've always been sucker for catchy songs no matter what genre/musician(s) they're of/from. I also didn't really follow Puddle of Mudd in the 2000s, but thought of checking them out last year, and just gave the first 3 records some time to grow on me. I also remember at least liking Blurry and She Hates Me, so I just figured that I'd check out more of their albums and music videos.

Anyway, for those of you that are actually interested and might actually like Puddle of Mudd, I'd definitely recommend Come Clean and Life on Display. While I also enjoyed Famous and have several favorite songs from that album, with Psycho and Livn' On Borrowed Time becoming instant favorites, I have been listening to Come Clean and Life on Display the most out of all of them.

Aside from that I haven't followed up on them more after that, but those 3 records are definitely the best for starters. Although I'd still recommend listening to Come Clean and Life on Display way before Famous.

I also didn't realize it at first, but Puddle of Mudd was actually around since 1991, and has an EP called Stuck released in 1994 and an album called Abrasive released in 1997.

Piss It All Away and Time Flies have also become among some of my go-to songs for the end of the year.

Always liked Blurry, at least instrumentally.

I've never seen a hometown crowd disown a local band as hard as Kansas City has disowned this band. Wes is such a fucking turd though. Pretty sure the last time they did a show here he ended up insulting the small amount of people that actually showed up. I remember one time a few years back driving past the Uptown Theater where they were headlining and the doors were set to open in like fifteen minutes and there were, I shit you not, three people standing in line.

I'm not here to talk shit on Puddle of Mudd, just couldn't resist sharing how much their hometown hates them.

They had some decent songs with their major debut.. But I could never get over the lead singers voice.. Very cringy to listen to. Liked them more musically than as a whole.

For what it's worth, Wes did get himself checked into rehab and he is clean now, So he should be fine now.

I was really into this band when I was teenager. In hindsight, much of their music really blew and was about in line with what you'd expect from a Fred Durst discovery, but they did have some sneakily good cuts on the first two records--"Time Flies" and "Piss It All Away" are two, posted above, but I recall "Bottom" and a lot of songs on the second album in particular being perfectly serviceable at worst radio rock songs for that time period. There was some potential there if only Wes wasn't a complete dumbass.

Weird this thread just got created, haven’t heard about this band in awhile (outside of hearing their occasional radio hit on the local hard rock stations from time to time) and was listening to the radio when the D.J. mentioned them Playing soon nearby. Looked up their tour dates and they’re playing at some small sports bar about 30 mins outside Milwaukee on New Year’s Eve O_O :

Anyways, never really liked or disliked them back in their hey day- the songs on the radio were fine. I do recall Fred Durst apparently “discovering” them? And subsequently getting butt hurt after they got some recognition without him. What an ass hat.

Like i posted up, he got sober and he's not an ass when he is really really drunk. It's sorta like when Scott Stapp was losing his mind a few years back and found out later he had a bipolar meltdown he never knew he had.

oh an Krazy Fred ain't like that anymore. He's been pretty chill for a long time now

I always thought Taproot was the best find from Durst; quite sure I'm in the minority there .

Never had a problem with Taproot. Certainly have plenty of parts that don't hold up well now, but at the time in that scene they were fine.

I adored that Welcome when it came out. I still like to this day, along with quality tracks from each of their albums after the Welcome era. I just bought the Besides set they released with about 135 unreleased tracks.
