I'm... not so sure about The Black Room theory about it going to be released but just in case...

And since I couldn't find another thread on them, may as well start one.

Been listening to them longer than NIN (one of the first cassettes I owned was The White Room...).

For me, it started with The KLF and then getting into the Wilson and Shea writings and finished reading their book "2023" last week, so there's that.

Any other Cauty/Drummond fans out there? (yes, the same Cauty who remixed Manson's "I Don't Like the Drugs (But the Drugs Like Me")

I enjoy the group's history and know of some of their hits, but their album Chill Out was got me interested (I would say 15-17 years ago).That was one of those albums that really opened up the door to ambient music for me. I'd fall asleep to it every night for a few months. I'm also a big fan of the "Space" album. I started listening to the KLF due to Cauty's connection/lack thereof of the Orb, who I was a big fan of around that time as well.

I enjoyed it but I think it has a greater impact if one were to read it fairly quickly instead of spacing it out (as I did). More like the Schrödinger's Cat trilogy by Robert Anton Wilson than say, the Illuminatus! trilogy.

Yeah, I've got Space as well. I liked listening to Chillout, Space and The Orb's Adventures Beyond The Ultraworld to go to sleep... just great stuff (and one of the main music guys behind The Orb (Thrash) has an on-going Patreon now (https://www.patreon.com/100mountains)).

So, what about their Disco 2000, The Timelords and Justified Ancients of Mu Mu (JAMs) works?

I can't quite bring myself to get too involved in their recent / current projects. It would be great to see something musical from them, but for me it was always about the pop side of things. If anything does come up though I will read with interest.

As for Gary Glitter... well, fuck him, obviously. I always feel a bit sad though because he was a bit of a legend back in the day. Saw him live back in '90 and it was a mighty performance. Always love this version of Doctorin' The Tardis from Top Of The Pops:

Edit: Yeah I'm going to be here all day now. I love how they were able to take the normally rather boring mainstream television pop music format and do something really twisted with it. This was before most of us had MTV or anything like that, so Top Of The Pops was still a big deal for any music fans. I mean, 'The North Will Rise Again'? It's not quite shocking enough to upset people, but it's defintely weird enough to make an impact still, all these years later... but then I was just the right age for all this stuff I guess.

I find I enjoy them a lot more intellectually/conceptually than I do musically (but I do really like Chill Out and The White Room albums), if you haven't checked out their "origin" material (of the book Illuminatus! trilogy by Robert Anton Wilson and Robert Shea), then maybe do that. The John Higgs book (https://johnhiggs.com/books/the-klf/) about them is well worth reading as well.

They were dangerous in the subversive sense. And individually since, I like their non-musical projects. If something new musically happens, I will check it out (if for nothing else but to hear the production value).

This song right here is honestly the only song I know by KLF. I loved it as a confused kid who could not choose between liking electronic music and rap music - it bridged the gap nicely for me
