I noticed the Watchmen scores are not in a lot of digital stores. I believe we will get a full digital release with the 3 volumes together. Especially since Trent gave away 5 tracks in Hi-Res, as it would be annoying to only have 5 tracks in Hi-Res whereas the rest of the score is just regular 16 bit.

This soundtrack is one of the best things Trent and Atticus have done ever. Everything they do is amazing, but if anyone was worried they would get in too much fo a rut, they need only listen to this to hear how truly versatile and talented they are. Bad Witch dabbled in jazz, this just dives right in. Amazing. Just keeps getting better on repeated listens. And all the world-building around it? Feeling lucky.

I'm curious, the vocal chorus parts used in Lincoln Tunnel, and also the scene in the theatre at the end of Episode 9, do we think TR and AR created those or are they sampled? I finished listening to the Vol 3 vinyl after watching Episode 9 and wish that track had been included, but I'm guessing it was probably created too late in the process like the others. Such a good track, a somber counterpoint to Lincoln Tunnel.

Got vol. 3 last night. Absolutely love the alternate TNIN storyline and how they connect Trent and Atticus' real life journey with the Watchmen universe, even adding in a nice Social Network shoutout along the way.

It was great putting on a vinyl and hearing brand new TR/AR music, some of which either wasn't on the show or was only used briefly, so it really was fresh. My biggest disappointment is that the awesome track from the end of episode 8 was nowhere to be found. I assume it will be one of the digital-only tracks, but it felt like it needed to be on the vinyl. The track at the end of side 2 is a bit of an underwhelming final track, which makes me really wish the episode 8 track took its place instead.

I haven’t been listening to The Fragile for a while, so I’m embarrassed to say I wasn’t sure what that track was reminding me of. But now it’s so obvious. It’s quintessential Trent in a way, but the choir adds a whole new dimension to it.

It’s a fantastic piece — nearly made me shed a tear during the climax of episode 8.

Peter Murphy sounds so different on this album. He sounds more like a woman..... and a lot like Laura Dickinson. His voice's range and diversity never ceases to amaze me. The article was a really fun read. The FaceBook bit reminded me of an old YouTube April Fools' video that involved a grand prize of receiving the YouTube video catalog on DVD, with regular deliveries of new videos.
Allan Shea Kurtis may be the Editor at Large of Canon POP!, but he needs a proofreader. There are three or four prepositions missing from sentences in the article. Maybe it's all just part of an ARG...... or, a better explanation is that Canon POP! is such a small magazine that it can't afford a second set of eyes to proof read articles, and also, it wasn't typed on a computer that would have software like Grammarly. That's a good explanation.
I really dig WHO WILL SAVE US NOW? The bass reminds me of Melvins' Night Goat and A History of Bad Men, and also Ministry's Filth Pig.
Oh.... also.... the label artwork reminds me of Eno's Ambient series. I like that little touch. I wonder if they're derived from a map of North Wales.

Can't wait for the entire soundtrack.

Lincoln Tunnel is like Great Gig in the Sky and TDTWWA had a beautiful baby. Truly one of the finest pieces of music TR has ever written. Not to take anything away from Atticus, I’m just saying anything Trent has ever produced as NIN or from his work with AR. Score or otherwise.

all three volumes of the score are packaged as "in-universe" albums, and none of the three have the actual tracklist of the score that's pressed on the record, only the "pretend" tracks for the fake album.

also, volume three has one vinyl-exclusive track, and the digital version has several additional tracks that were completed too late to include on the vinyl (there's a link on theninhotline to download the extra tracks direct from the nin website)

as a huge fan of COIL, it made me so giddy not only that peter & danny were involved in the performance/recording/production of "thmnhttnprjct" but also that it's mentioned that peter and jhonn are still alive and still romantic partners; i actually started crying when i read that last part. but seriously, the entire essay, mixed with the adjusted pictures to insert the appropriate personnel, and the story of recording the album, is all so fucking cool. i can't tell you how much i wish we really got that fake album.

but at least vol. 3 of the score is absolutely phenomenal! "let him ride" is officially my #1 piece of score that TR+AR have done.

same. i get vinyl-only tracks, but if the availability is slim, you might wanna make it more widely available. i bought an EP last year that not only had 4 vinyl-only bonus tracks (8 total), but only pressed a small amount (and they refuse to press any more). i luckily got one and made some subpar rips, only for the frontman to send out the masters for the other 4 tracks on Christmas day, negating all that work.

all of that to say, it's not a requirement, but it'd be a hell of a Christmas gift.

So, I'm 3/3 from Target with a $10 gift card apology for the delay. The outer sleeves are pristine, but the all 3 inner sleeves have seam splits. Regardless, I'll probably hit up Target for vinyl one more time to burn that gift card.

Interestingly enough, the real world NIN was not on tour in April of 1995. It was a hiatus before the Dissonance tour with Bowie.

So this can't be just a bootleg or recording of a real NIN show.

The fact that he mentions DAT masters of the "performance" suggests that it's going to be either a real live archived recording from the real NIN from some obscure 1995 show, or Trent and Atticus are going to "create" the famed TNIN performance in the Watchmen lore, complete with the "FUCK YOU" mic drop.

VLC kept kept crashing when I tried to open the 1995 file, and at first I thought that was part of the joke, but turns out I was just super behind on updates. Whoops.

I'm also checking out the spectrogram, but the software I'm using (which is really meant more for speech analysis) can only show about 10sec at a time at most. I'm not seeing much of note so far at the end of the flac, but lmk if there's a particular timestamp you'd like to see!

So I did some quick research, and was able was able to remove the clipping using Audacity. There's still tons of glitches in this, but you can hear the songs a bit better, you can check it out here:

I missed the end of the show back then because my EDS was having problems and stopped working after like the second or third song in their set so I had to leave. I said I steal what's not made available for purchase digitally, and nine times out of ten it's actually a trade than outright stealing it. Also, like most people here I'm sure, I've legally bought 90% of the music that he's put out, either through the official site or other online retailers. That said, I'm not made of money, and anyone who says they haven't downloaded/torrented/etc. something Trent worked on at one time or another is a liar. I guarantee half the members here would have never become fans if they hadn't pirated some of his music. I don't do it with any sort of pride though. It's a matter of what's available and how. If everything was available for purchase in the formats I use, I'd have no problem buying them. I'm not going to plop down a hundred bucks for a rare vinyl single with an obscure remix on it though.

And to keep this on topic, I bought the digital versions of all three Watchmen soundtracks legally. ;)
