What the hell is a Zitadelle?

It's a military fortress, renaissance style: 😃

From the description it sounds like quite a cool location.

I'm in, but as I said somewhere else, those Germans suck when your talking about ticket services (the method E-ticket they don't know). :/
Why this one? Well, it's a headliner gig and not a festival gig. The setlist could be longer and more exclusive.

Update/edit: received message today
"Ihre Sendung ist heute mit der Sendungsnummer ............ an DHL EXPRSSS übergeben worden"

:)

I'm in, but as I said somewhere else, those Germans suck when your talking about ticket services (the method E-ticket they don't know). :/

ticketmaster: about 17 euro to some parts of europe, about 37 euro for the rest of the world
eventim: 35 euro for anywhere besides germany (they are selling hardtickets incl. Artwork)

but you can also buy your tickets here:

koka36.de -> 10 euro inside EU plus Ukraine and even the U.S.
dodotickets.de -> 7 euro within EU

I prefer e-tickets as well, even living in Berlin.
Some smaller concerts do not offer anything else.
Like "The Soft Moon", playing 2 concerts in a row in February, both nearly sold out.
"Zola Jesus" or anyone else playing at Berghain or "SO36": Of course there are E-Tickets.

I think the problem is with larger companies, or maybe some venues. I don't know if there are any E-Tickets available for ... let's say... "Depeche Mode", Adele or U2.
There have been E-Tickets for Marilyn Manson though, as far as I know.

it is. but there are 2 big problems:
it is an open air-concert.
there is a curfew (because of the neighbours) at 10PM, so the concert has to be over by then.
so it starts around 7PM on broad daylight.
i would have preferred the "arena treptow", where NIN played 2009. but I think the capacity is limited to 7000. the "zitadelle" takes 10000.

it will look like this: (with NIN already playing, in the summer-sun)

I really hope that they will play on Opene'r Festival in Poland 4.07 it perfectly fit :)

There won’t be screens this time. And again, I understand, but it’s a headline gig and still better than a festival appearance. Tbc
Ticket arrived. :)https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20171218/6bd51e0d0bf9de096f3baaed4a4c543b.jpg

For a shipping price like that it should've been a work of art worthy to be framed at the wall.

I'm still doubting myself wether or not to see them there. Pro: Zitadelle is a nice venue and the old walls give it a decent acoustic. BUT: Berlin crowds suck and the sun won't set before eleven pm, at which time the concert will already be over. Remeber, if you saw them there during the Tension-Tour, that was in May, not July. Still crossing my fingers for a non-festival gig in Luxemburg or Poland...

I'm hoping that it's going to be dark and cloudy. I tink rain could really save the day.

And...remember, after june 21 the days getting shorter. -lol-
And yes, point is made about the daylight. I see it as a meet up of true NIN fans which you cannot expect on a regular festival. Tbc.

Does anybody know of spare tickets to the Berlin show? I'm considering adding it to my European NINventure. Would be looking for 3 tickets.
Thanks.

If you go to the upcoming shows section there is a thread dedicated to Berlin. That’s the best place to ask.

So it looks like my original post was re-directed here but I'll make a fresh one.
I'm trying to get 3 tickets to this show. If anybody has them available, that would be really amazing. TIA!

Has anyone seen any info on who the support is at Zitadelle? I got a Songkick alert that it was Vatican Shadow, which would be absolutely incredible but seems unlikely. I can't find confirmation anywhere else, either.

Hey Vukmirion! Check out Ebay Kleinanzeigen, that's how I've found mine! Of course might be a bit risky to send them, but maybe you have someone in Berlin to pick it up for you. https://www.ebay-kleinanzeigen.de/s-konzerte/berlin/nine-inch-nails/k0c255l3331

@elevenism Thanks! It's BOC related.

Never seen any show at Zitadelle, but from what I read I'm a bit worried that it won't be dark enough. How was it in 2014? Guess the only way to minimize the sun inconvenience is to go as close to the stage as possible, with stage lights straight in the face

yeah, well it was weird, have a look here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WaaaFNYgbGQ). But by the end of the show it was dark. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mNKyCSIPj24)

The stage was too narrow so the giant LED screen was not there. But that's not necessarily a bad thing and I think the setlist (https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/nine-inch-nails/2014/zitadelle-spandau-berlin-germany-73c34a15.html) was probably the most interesting of the EU tour so it totally made up for it (All time low, The becoming, Various Methods of Escape, Hand covers Bruise merging into BYIT).

Also, in 2014 I arrived kinda late, thinking that there wouldn't be many people there as the show wasn't even sold out. Retrospectively, that was a bad idea. I think this time around I'll try to get closer to the stage (15-20m), as you said it's more immersive plus keep in mind that the sound behaves differently outdoor. And don't forget that German people can be really tall.

Guys, just hope it's not gonna be as hot as this week. The last time they played here was in May, this time around it's July and it's quite hot already.

p.s. elevenism and Left-Side-Drive are both great usernames haha

Hi, just made an account after years of only checking for updates. I have 2 tickets spare at face value. Can't make it to Berlin (but going to Amsterdam though). Concerns physical tickets, so I will need to send by mail (from the Netherlands). Anyone interested?

some friends of mine have been too late to buy a regular ticket. but they also don't believe in postal services and paypal-payments. if there are any berliners here wanting to sell their physical tickets in person: at least 3 persons i know would like to buy them

Probably too late for relying on postal services, yes, but I'm going to Amsterdam as well so I can also sell the Berlin tickets in person at the Amsterdam venue if anyone's interested...?

I was at today's Massive Attack gig, it was my second time in this venue after NIN in 2014.
A few notes:

- according to Scarlet Siren, the doors opened shortly after 18.00
- the main gig started at 21.30 and finished at 23.00, you can pretty much expect the same for NIN, if not earlier (Massive Attack had two opening acts)
- beers are 5€ for 0.5l, with a 2€ deposit. Outside the venue you'll find people selling beers for around 2.50€. Inside the Zitadelle you'll also find several food stands.
- it will take ages to leave the venue, it took me at least 20 minutes
- once you're out, don't turn left towards the u-bahn Zitadelle like everyone does. Instead, turn right and walk until you get to the u-bahn Altstadt Spandau. It's around the same walking distance, but there are way less people going there. Once you're on the train and you get to the next stop (U-bahn Zitadelle) you'll see what I mean and you'll thank me for that.
- it can get relatively cold at night, especially if it's windy, so keep that in mind.
- I spotted several NIN tshirt tonight, even one guy wearing a NINJA 2009 tshirt.

They just soundchecked Copy of A then bits of Sanctified and Wish. No spying needed; you can hear it clear as day from outside.
