Don't know how many of you have had the chance to listen to the latest release by oHgr, but the new album, unDeveloped is fantastic.
It's way better than any of his previous releases. The album seems more polished and produced.
I think it also helps that it sounds more puppy-ish than his previous releases. Definitely check it out.

Has nobody seriously hit up a show on this tour yet?

I saw the show tonight in Vancouver, and it was pretty decent.
It was a step up from the last time they rolled through town, but that was durning the Devils in My Details tour, so that's not saying much.
Yeah, I hated that album, shoot me. UnDeveloped is an amazing album though, and I was sad they didn't play a whole lot of material from the album live. They only played about 5 songs from the album.

It's late, i'm tired and a tad drunk so there is no way in hell I am going to be able to come up with a setlist, but I can came the songs I do remember.

Minus, cracker, maJik, Dog, timebomb, 101, comedown, traGek, nitwitz, Psychoreal, crash and there were a few more from DIMD that I don't reconize, and 1 or 2 more from welt.

It was also ohGr's birthday, and they came out for the encore witha B-day cake and everyone came on stage and sang happy birthday. Then him and the guitarist started beating each other up and he said they were going to play an accoustic set, but they didn't (guess that was supposed to be a joke). I caught that on film, but i'm too tired to upload that tonight, i'll do it another night if people actually care enough.

The merch was decent, there were 3 shirts to choose from. One was just plain black, nothing on the back of the album cover of UnDeveloped with the baby. The other was a slightly different position of the baby fetus, zoomed out and less detailed, this shirt had the tour dates and venues on the back (this is the one I got), each shirt was $25, amd they had a hoody as well for $45, same as shirt #1 with the album artwork on the back. And there was a winter beenie for $10 or $20.

ohGr used a megaphone alot throughout the show. He wore a strange police helmet for the first 2 songs, and other then that the band was decked in grey suites and white button up shirts and red vests, kind of a classic 1930's victorian goth look going on.

Just thought I'd go ahead and bump this bad boy with a couple sample vidz from my footage of ohGr live in St. Paul a few years back. Kinda fucked 'cause my external mic was broken so I had to use the crappy built-ins and the shitty old YT compression from back when I uploaded 'em ruins the resolution, but ho-hum:

Recently my youtube account has gotten upgraded so I am finally able to post some of my older bootlegs that I have NEVER released until now. Here is an Ohgr show from December 18th 2008 in Dallas, TX ENJOY and tell your friends! http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=3Pjdy3IavAE I am willing to trade a lossless version if anyone is interested! I am also looking for someone to help me make the show into a dvd with menus and such. I know how to do it but I just don't have the time. Let me know! -Lance

Finally replaced my umpteenth broken camcorder and stumbled upon the tape of my recording of ohGr live in Chicago back in '08. The camcorder I filmed it with had a broken Mic In port so the sound is mostly ass but oh, well...can't win 'em all. The crowd was your typical dead-fish shoegazing shit that seems to plague the area, but the show was great. Unfortunately, it was a sold out show and it was impossible to squeeze through the crowd to anywhere else but where I had an obstructed view and was in plain sight of the venue security. So I just ran audio until the security left for whatever reason and then did my best to film a bit from a shitty spot.

The first track is listenable enough, but it's a real shame about my camcorder's crappy built-in mics, the awesome "brap" they did as an encore is almost totally lost in the brickwalled awfulness of the recording's sound.

Meh.

It is what it is.

The problem with ohGr albums are, they are a total gamble. You might get someone amazing like Welt or UnDeveloped or something no so amazing like Sunnypsyop or Devil in my Details. I find his albums are very hit or miss. Sunny has it's moments, but compared to Welt or UnDeveloped, it's not as good. But I think we can all agree that DIMD is definitely a "miss" in his discography.

I really like that new logo t-shirt though. Almost willing to take the gamble for the t-shirt alone.

Well, I guess the majority has spoken, lol.

I must be off my rocker indeed. But I couldn't get into that record in 2008, Maybe i'll give it another try, almost 10 years later, but from what I remember, the only track that stood out with me was "Timebomb"

All I know is, I'm glad I didn't back it. Everything that I always seem interested in backing either falls through or has a poor run and not the quality people expected if/when it does get released.

I'm surprised he didn't want the album and shirts out before he went on the road with KMFDM. What's up with that?? Perfect time to promote your new stuff on the road... Not sure what the ohGr camp was thinking with this one.

Hopefully we get some news soon. maybe ohGr is saving it for a headlining tour of his own, but I'm still shocked that he hasn't played or debuted a single new song at all on his recent run with KMFDM. Guess the music in't ready. I'd expect an early 2018 release at this point.

There has been quite a few updates since it's announcement of a new album. Though they have only been restricted to backers of the project. You wouldn't be able to see the updates unless you're logged in with the account you backed the project with. The last update earlier this month said they're still on schedule for Oct 31st release.
As for the teaser updates, I think they're not so great. Only two actually sound like decent songs.

The stop motion characters from ohGr's Cracker and Majik videos will be up for an online auction starting on Nov 27th over here:
http://www.biddingowl.com/Auction/home.cfm?auctionID=13387

All proceeds from this auction are going towards the pre-production of a new fully animated video for the upcoming release of "Tricks", the new ohGr record. The characters for auction have been digitally scanned and will also appear in the new video.

Man, these guys sure are hurting for cash for this new record aren't they? They crowdfund the record, and now they need to sell stuff to fund their music video?

StillWill

The last update was posted on the intended release date, October 31st.

Thanks for all your support.
The record is complete.

However, after switching mastering engineers, and working around the clock to make up the time , it just now became apparent that we can’t release digitally tomorrow.

It was close, but not doable at the level of quality we want.
We still have more mastering to review and complete, and ohGr just wrapped up his tour.
This release date was important to us, as is your support and understanding.
So, this wont be long.

APOLOGIES.

When is the new "end of the world" date?
I'm guessing that's what that cryptic message means.

Every few years they have a "doomsday" day that everyone freaks out about and it comes and goes and everyone continues on with their lives.

According to this site: https://rationalwiki.org/wiki/List_of_predictions_of_the_end_of_the_world the next one is May 20th, 2018.
So, record on the 19th? and considering music is released on Friday's now, May 18th??

EDIT: I just noticed the secret hidden link in that message above. Listened to the clip, sounds straight outta the Welt era, I love it! Sounds like it's gonna be a rockin' record.
Can't wait. Hopefully a tour to follow in 2018.

But... how are you guys listening to this? There is like no peep on the internet anywhere... For an artist to release a new record, you figure they would want to build hype and mention it on social media... Seems odd that they just e-mailed the backers that it was out... sneak peak to you lucky bums that paid for it I guess?

I leave for vacation tomorrow morning and would love to have this to listen to during my travels...

I didn't like the new album the first few times I listened to it, like it really didn't resonate with me, but it's really grown on me. Been listening to it for the last couple days and it's really good.

My favourite tracks are Subject, Muddle, Lye, Blowby and Mind Made God.
If I had to rank the records I would put this one in the middle of the pack.

1. Welt
2. Undeveloped
3. Tricks
4. Sunnypsyop
5. Devil In My Details

After a few more listens, I might even be willing to put it above undeveloped. Looking back at the tracklist for undeveloped, there is a lot of filler, but the songs that are good on that record, are really good. Tricks is 10 solid tracks. No interludes or filler crap.

Piko
07-08-2018, 08:30 AM
I'd probably go:

Welt
SunnyPsyOp
Devils
Tricks
Undeveloped

Undeveloped has it's strong moments, but a lot of filler. Takes a bit to get going too. It's not until the 5th track that I really get into it. Comedown is awesome. I love Devils. I see it get flack. Not sure why. I feel like the jury is still out for Tricks. It's a return to the simpler songs. I like it. But, in no way does it compare to most of the older stuff.

Some good stuff here. I like both shirt designs and the hoody too. Gonna have a hard time picking between them, but our shirt is always usual the winner.

They didnt have any CD/Vinyl for OHGR, it was kinda weird.

Saw the show tonight in Vancouver, it was FANTASTIC!
I've seen ohGr 3 times now - 2008 for the Devil in mt details tour, 2013 for the unDeveloped tour and now this, and this show was hands down the best of the 3!
If you have a chance to check the show out, do yourself a favor and go. You won't be disappointed.

The had the DIMD CD "signed" available at the Vancouver show, but other than that... no new album, which is definitely quite odd. I picked myself up the tour shirt and the hoody. What a great show!

To anyone that can't make a show, they will be streaming the show from Dallas on August 27th. However, it appears you have to "purchase" an online viewing ticket.
No word on what that costs, but you can hop on over here for more info: https://www.vidi.space/ohgr

No. Haven't seen any around. They had a couple shirts from what I recall. But don't ask me what was on the shirts, that I wasn't paying attention too, lol.

Also, fair warning to anyone buying merch: ohGr's "size large" is more like an XL. I got a shirt and hoody, and they are both like dresses on me. They're so big, I can barely wear them.

I hate how t-shirt sizes are never consistent between bands. For instance, I got a large shirt from Tool last year, and I can't wear it because it's too small, it's more like a medium. But a large from ohGr is more like an XL and goes down to my knees. All the hoody's I have are either too small or too big. I find that size large in NIN shirts are just perfect though.

Is it sad I only skimmed the latest album once and I'm seeing the band this Saturday?

I need to listen to it again ASAP to get a tad bit familiar.

I am so excited to see the band! I'm gonna buy a tour shirt and the hoodie probably.

VERY SAD! You're like my friend Adam who I went to the show here with, while he's at the show he says "wait, is this tour supposed to be supporting a new album" lol... *facepalm* YES!! It's actually a great record as well. I hated it the first couple listens, but hot damn.... I think it's better than unDeveloped.... and even DIMD, and Sunnysyop and hot damn.... it's ohGr's 2nd best record under Welt! *gasp*

YES!!! Just make sure you don't make the same mistake as me and buy size large for the hoody.... It's actually secretly a size 2XL... I got fooled. But if you like your merch bigger, then go for it. The brand they are using is not your usual sizing. The tour shirt Large is also like an XL dress on me. Goes down to my knees. Quite sad... I need new shirts that aren't NIN... I have enough NIN shirts to wear 1 every day for a month if I wanted.... that's sad.... I need to change it up, lol. NIN shirts seem to be the only brand the PERFECTED the size "Large" though...

Bought a TOOL tour shirt last year... it's too small.... It says Large, it's like a small to medium....

Anyway, just be careful when buying merch next weekend.

I didn't manage to buy a vinyl copy and minus Welt on vinyl and DIMD on CD, I own no other physical copies of ohGr material. I just haven't downloaded it yet....

Thanks for the tips. Shirts piss me off. Large is too small or just snugly tight and XL is too big and it looks dumb. Thanks for the heads up on the sizing. I'll make sure to get Mediums I guess.

They aren't even selling any of the CDs on tour this year... or vinyl. Minus DIMD CD signed (odd choice for a CD to be selling). The production of tricks must have been delayed or something. But very odd that they aren't selling actual music related to the new record they are touring for. I only have Welt and Sunnysyop on CD myself, so I'm not better than you. But I did pay for the tricks download, so that's that.

If Large is normally too snug for you, maybe go with a Large this time around, it's a bigger large, so you might like it, ya never know. Maybe ask to see the medium and the large and put them side by side and make your best judgement call. Shirts piss me off too, it's always different from band to band, and you never know how the shirt is going to be until you wash it at least once. I've bought shirts that were absolutely PERFECT on first wear, and then I washed them and they're too small. I also have a handful of shirts that no matter how many times I wash them, they won't shrink. Seems like the clothes you want to shrink, never shrink, the ones you don't want to - always do.

I washed the hoody in hopes it would shrink, it shrunk a tad bit, but not to my liking.

Sorry, I didn't see a hat at my show.
But they had a pin. Mg girlfriend ended up buying the pin. $10 Canadian for a pin... it's the new funny "ohGr" logo where you can make out the O and H and then the G and R are kind of blended in together, that logo. I think that's the same logo on the hats, but I didn't see any hats at my show.

No joke, between going to see ohGr and Killing joke on back to back dates plus a hotel for those nights it's gotten expensive. I haven't bought VIP tickets to KJ even though I'm contemplating it but then I'd be $200 out and wouldn't be able to get any merch at either show (aside from the VIP stuff that's included).

I will upload craCKer to YouTube sometime but have a photo album (https://imgur.com/a/mvjCNKx) of my shots. The show was no where near full or packed....hell, probably only like 100-250 there. The entire venue can hold like 750. However, the people there were loud as fuck and enthusiastic. Was awesome.

Sucks when good artists can't pull in a decent crowd. Really shows you how very little people actually have good taste in music. There was a skold show here about 2 years ago which also severely under-preformed attendance wise, and it was on a Saturday night as well! I can understand a mid week show on a Tuesday or Wednesday having a low head count, but a weekend show makes no sense.

How much did you end up spending on merch and what did you buy?

Everyone there was into it and really loved both opening acts also. Great energy and the entire show was kinda low key due to the audience size and super fun because of it. I agree about the good music taste. More for us!

Bought the hoodie, the tour date shirt, a patch and a pin. Around $92.00. I just got paid Thursday so I'm done spending money for the week now haha.

Have Paul and Ogre been doing anything together this tour? Going to the Cold Waves show on Thursday and thought it would be cool if they did a little In Case You Didn't Feel Like Showing Up reunion for a song or two, especially since Chris will be there too, but I don't know how realistic that is.

It’s possible but highly doubtful. Paul is more concentrated on his own stuff. He works the Merch booth between sets and before and after the show. I got to strike up a conversation with him and I asked for a photo which he obliged. Unfortunately he doesn’t have copies of his new album. Distribution issues. But he does have Lead into Gold which I bought and asked for him to sign.
I dont want to spoil anything about the show, at least for now. You will definitely have a great time.

Amazing show. Got to chat with Paul Barker and he signed a few of my Ministry CDs! he put on a great performance and I bought the new Lead Into Gold off him. He's so soft-spoken and humble! :D

Some guy bought the whole floor 150 beers afterwards. Then he sat down and his girlfriend in S&M gear started groping in front of us and then before anyone knows it they're doing lines of blow off his cellphone and are promptly escorted out before anyone can blink.

He's been posting hundred's of clips on their social media's for the lat couple weeks. All 2019 studio demos apparently.
I haven't really been listening or keeping up with them to be honest. Random 30 second clips of unfinished work don't really do much for me.
I have listened to a few of them, and I like what I hear. So colour me excited for the new release.

I'm just surprised he started working on a new record so soon. Tricks is barely a year old and there's already a new one coming? Pretty slick!

Just want to say I finally got into Welt & it's one of the best industrial/whatever albums I've ever heard - interested to hear this band is hit and miss both live and in studio. I could quite happily watch the welt album performed from start to finish - wonderfully streamlined fusion of relevant textures and styles, accessible but still has bite.

And the band has featured Skold, Rieflin and cevin key, as well as almost featuring Al - wow

so has there ever been clarification on who exactly "cracker" is aimed at? I guessed it was general armchair thumping, but would be interested to hear

Heavily implied at Trent Reznor, Eminem and Marilyn Manson if I am not mistaken.

Least that's what I've read throughout the years. I never deep dove into the topic.

Fuck i got excited we actually had some news.
I thought i read that it was about, gulp, our lord and savior. Or about the mainstream industrial rock movement in general (TR, Manson etc). Ogre did an interview in the early 2000s where it is mentioned. I find it funny if true, that he chooses his most mainstream industrial rock album to make this observation. Im sure you could easily find it online.

I love this project. Looked like new stuff was about to drop before the pandemic started. Welt is great, and dont forget the follow up, Sunnysyop was recorded during the same sessions. Each album is great. Comedown might be my favorite track followed by timebomb.
