I couldn't find a thread for this.
I just recently got my first tablet (and have also never had a smartphone) so i'm WAY late to the party on this stuff.
There is this game called Alto's Adventure and i've gotten more enjoyment out of this thing than any console game i've played in a long, long time.
It's deceptively simple but as you start to get into it, you realize that it's unbelievably deep for a game with one button. It's insanely relaxing until you get stuck on one of the objectives that seems like it was created by the devil himself. Then it becomes quite challenging and deeply satisfying.
More than anything, it's about as addictive as heroin. This game has helped to calm my nerves as well as offered me a much needed escape during my wife's health crisis of the last month or so.

It's free to play on amazon underground, btw. If you've got a Fire tablet, i can't reccommend this one enough.

Another one that just blows me the fuck away is Monument Valley.
I know this has been out for almost three years, but if you haven't tried it, i HIGHLY suggest it.
You use fairly simple puzzle solving to navigate a character through realms comprised of M.C. Escher-esque impossible architecture.
If video games aren't art, then Monument Valley isn't a video game.

This one is also free on Fire Tablets
