Gazelle Twin is Elizabeth Bernholz from Brighton UK. They are 2 albums in, the first "The Entire City" was released in 2011, their current album "Unflesh" was released in 2014.

Anyone heard these guys.....any thoughts? I recently seen them in London and came away from the experience thinking it was the best thing I'd seen in a very long time.

UNFLESH is my favorite album of last year. I think it's a tiny masterpiece.

Seeing her live last November in an unfortunately half-filled Brooklyn venue was something else: I'd immersed myself so deeply in the imagery of the album (i.e. the hooded figure) that seeing that character from the music videos & artwork come to life in front of my own eyes, inches away from me, was like a glorious nightmare come to life. So much love for Gazelle Twin <3

Oooh exciting! Judging from that clip, it sounds like there might be some new Gazelle Twin material featured?? (full disclosure: I'm very confused about the modern definition of "mixtape.")

Yeah, me too. In some cases it's what used to be called a new album...lol.
Anyway, I assume this is a Dj mix, as I can't see them (or anyone) going on national radio and just playing a new album from start to finish. Hope they upload it either way.

Talking of new material, did you get the "Out Of Body - Soundtrack" released a short while ago? It's new material - https://gazelletwin.bandcamp.com/album/out-of-body-soundtrack

Nice to get some new Gazelle Twin. She's one of my favorite 'way too underexposed' artists. Hope she gets a bit more press and public awareness next album.

Agreed! I've got 2 of her other mixes saved on my computer and they're greaet.

Yes! It's really good. I haven't given it the attention it deserves but I was very pleased as it was pretty much exactly what I was expecting. I would LOVE to hear her do more soundtrack/film score work, as I adore the music she's uploaded under her NEWT alias.

@Deadpool (http://www.echoingthesound.org/community/member.php?u=237) can you give me some titles of NEWT material I should look for? I'd really appreciate it. I got the soundcloud page, is that all there is?

This https://www.mixcloud.com/WiseupRadioshow/wiseup-082015-gazelle-twin/ is great, 2 hr interview and music, well worth a listen. If you need an upload just holler. ;)

Also.. are you aware of Bernholz? He is Elizabeth's husband (and the red hooded figure on the Unflesh tour) and his own music is quite interesting https://bernholz.bandcamp.com/
His Consequences cd is amazing, ambient, noise, beats, it's all in there. Hugely limited though so be quick.

Sadly, it's all I can find! But I think it's so cool, and worthy of the alternate pseudonym! I also remember Elizabeth saying she did some "underscore" work for that recent Backstreet Boys documentary (!!). I've always been curious about that...

Bernholz! I like his tunes. I think I met him after the Gazelle Twin show in Brooklyn at the merch table. SUPER nice guy. He was so apologetic that they didn't have a small-size t-shirt I asked for, but I got a large anyway and it's still one of my fav shirts (and is a surprisingly good fit).

The R3 mix was/is great. Clocks in at 30 mins. I sent them a tweet to ask for a possible upload, they replied with https://twitter.com/M_Bryce71/status/733658249069756418 fingers crossed.
The mix is on the i-player at http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b07b2kmr for 29 days.

Thanks for posting that, July 29th seems a long way off.

Unflesh was the best album of 2014... has been on repeat loads for about 18 months.
Just sounded very original.

Is it post industrial?

The new album PASTORAL recently came out and unsurprisingly, it's great. Challenging? Yes (especially on first listen), but I keep coming back to it. "Dance of the Peddlers" was an instant favorite, and I can't get enough.

I think it will satisfy fans and hopefully gain new ones. Bonus points to Elizabeth for going with a completely new thematic direction (living in the countryside + Brexit fallout) and new avatar (the genderless "imp"), while still broadly exploring the turmoil & toxicity beneath the surface of the seemingly innocuous. It's not Unflesh 2 (nor should it be), but one can hear how this album extends some of the sounds established in its predecessor.

What does everyone else think?

Late to the party but I recently discovered Gazelle Twin. The collab track she did on the Cyberpunk 2077 soundtrack is :chefs kiss:

"Fleshed out" double-LP is currently on sale down to £10 (!) on her site + P&P

I can't believe it took me that long to clock onto Gazelle Twin.

I'm still trying to digest "Pastoral" and she goes and drops "Black Dog": I'll get indigestion!
bandcamp: https://gazelletwin.bandcamp.com/album/black-dog

I keep finding stuff I love in her back catalogue. "The Wastleland" (companion EP to reissue of "This Entire City" has "Hole In My Heart" that is amazing https://gazelletwin.bandcamp.com/track/hole-in-my-heart

The OST to "Then You Run" really surprised me with how GOOD it is: I kinda expected it to be good but background-whilst-working style, but it's much more than that. "Teamwork" keeps playing in my head https://gazelletwin.bandcamp.com/track/teamwork

She was on stage with Gary Numan last year https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mndi6jBkuVU&pp=ygUXZ2F6ZWxsZSB0d2luIGludGVydmlldyA%3D

She did a remix of a Halsey track from that TR&AR produced album: I forget which right now. In a recent interview (see below) she said that TR called her up to ask her to do it, so, she's on his radar which is cool

She scored a piece of music (with Maxine Peake) for an art installation called "The Horror Show!"; the whole show was absolutely amazing, full of ephemera from my childhood, hauntology, a bunch of Coil stuff and coil adjacent, etc. https://www.somersethouse.org.uk/whats-on/the-horror-show

I saw her live last week: the Black Dog show. Met her afterwards and got a few bits signed:

Gazelle Twin is amazing. Which Black Dog show did you make it to jmtd? I was at Bush Hall. If I didn't have other things on I would have run down to Brighton too.
It's taken me until Black Dog to get into her solo work - it's a fantastic record. Until then I was more into her collaborative work - I'd come across remixes she'd done for Barry Adamson and Blanck Mass, a remix Dave Clark had done for her, and then got into the Deep England record with NYX. My first Gazelle Twin show was doing The Power And The Glory, and the second Deep England for what I hope isn't the final time! I did see the Horror Show but it was full of youngsters taking selfies (getting too old and grumpy for gallery shows now) - I hope she releases that piece so I can get to hear it properly.

Gateshead: it's practically on my doorstep. I couldn't believe she booked there given she only did 3 shows. It was my first GT show.

I haven't got into Black Dog properly yet. I'm deep into her solo back catalogue, but I've got some work to do collating her various mixes and remixes and suchlike.

I recorded a chunk of it on my phone but I haven't listened back to it. I will have to dig it out and see what I captured
