Action figures, dolls and other toys!

I didn't see that there was a toy thread and maybe there are other members here that collect toys, statues, dolls and what not. So lets all rejoice and talk about toys and show off our stuff.

I've been collecting toys on and off since middle school. I used to collect nothing but Resident Evil and Metal Gear Solid toys, but I ended up getting rid of them a few years back for some dumb reason and I highly regret it. I did keep the two most expensive figures I had, which was my Japanese import Nemesis and Rebecca Chambers figures.
Since last year I've gone back to collecting toys because of the amount of detail has been going into toys these past few years. Even the more common, not-as-expensive brands like NECA have stepped up their game. I'm mostly collecting Dragon Ball Z figures now, but I'm branching out to other lines like Marvel Select and hopefully I'll be getting my first Hot Toys figure sometime this year.

I've been thinking about laying down the cash and pre-ordering the Hot Toys Age of Ultron Captain America figure or a Guardians Of The Galaxy Star Lord. The both look insanely good. I haven't decided on which one I really feel like shelling out that kind of cash for though.

One of these days I'd like to get a nice display cabinet to display my 90s Beetlejuice action figures but my two year old and soon coming baby would destroy it all. For now we'll just play with the original Power Rangers set.

For future reference, IKEA has a nice display case called "Detolf" and it's the same display case I use. I absolutely love it and it's a lot cheaper than I thought it would be. I was expecting to pay around $100 or so but it was only $65

The only downside to it is that it has a magnet that keeps it closed so when you tug on the door to open it, the case shakes a bit and a figure might fall over if you don't have a stand for 'em.

I do collect them, lately not so much, since i'm having space issues in my home, but i collect "Star Wars, the Black Series" and almost all NECA i can find, i used to collect "Marvel Legends", but it got too frustrating, i also collect old 80's action figures like the original Playmates TMNT toys, Thundercats, Batman and basically all i can get my hands on...

I'm actually really surprised at how many people collect Marvel Legends figures. I'm in a few toy groups on Facebook and people are constantly posting about Legends toys. I'll have to seek a few out. There's a few that looked pretty good. I just recently saw that Marvel Diamond Selects put out a killer Carnage figure that I really want.

The O’Neal and Pippen are 96 editions, the Bird is labeled on the back as an 88 edition. A friend gave these to me years ago. I doubt they’re worth much but I’ve never looked em up.

Seeing that McFarland Psycho Mantis figure brings back a lot of memories. Mantis was actually one of the first collectible figures I ever had as a kid. I loved it so much that I used to take it to school with me back when I was in elementary school. I got made fun of for it too because I guess everyone else found him to be creepy while I thought he looked awesome. I really dig how you can just snap on his gas mask and then just pull it off. No need for a separate head.

While the idea is really cool, if i just buy one figure, I'm going to have some random part like a leg or arm just hanging about. I bought the QuesQ Elizabeth figure from Amazon for around $75 I believe. She stands around 8 and a half to 9 inches tall and she's detailed really well. A feature I thought was pretty cool with her is that Elizabeth has a magnet in her head so her hat doesn't fall off. My Yusuke Urameshi figure has the same thing in his head so Puu doesn't fall off his head. She's getting a bit up there in price though. You can find her for around $80-$90 now. There are also variant colors too like a black and pink version and her special Christmas outfit. I think her black and pink outfit was a con exclusive though, so that versions price will probably be twice as expensive.

Oh yay, I'm so glad I found this thread! My wife and I are hardcore collectors. Here's our doll case dedicated to our Sandman and Nightmare Before Christmas collectibles. I'll probably take pictures of the rest of the house eventually. We have a large bobble head collection and a bunch of cool plush toys, too.

The BAF it's a good thing for people that collect the complete series, but yeah if you just care for one or two figures it's not that great, you can always sell the remaining "limbs", "body" or "heads" and there always be collectors interested in those, so it's not a complete waste...

Speaking of "Marvel Legends", i'm loving all the sweet Spiderman series they have released lately (Ultimate Green Goblin and Hobgoblin), i just hated the fact that they have released ANOTHER "regular Spidey", but that Spiderman 2099 and Daredevil figures are sweet!

Collected a ton of shit when I was younger, but boxed it all up and/or sold it when I lost interest (and got a mortgage...avoid those if at all possible). Basically stuck to Tron, BioShock, but of course Batman stuff. Batman being the only thing I still collect, and it's limited to just the Black and White statues at this point. I'm up to about 25 of them, my favorite possibly being the 1st edition Mignola one that I may or may not have had to resort to shelling out $500+ on ebay to get, fml.

Im looking to start collecting again, starting with some of those D Arts and Figma Persona figures. I got Yukiko, and it was fantastic. Those Ninja Turtles from a couple of years ago also sparked my interest, and i had to buy them all.

I have THIS monev the gale, from Trigun, perhaps the best figure ive ever owned. Unfortunately after i was sent to boarding school, many of the pieces went missing. Without the base he does not stand well, and he is horribly top heavy. Many of his joints are loose and he is terribly dusty, that doesnt stop how great it is.

I have this excellent Eight and a Half Tails Statue from Magic: the Gathering. Magic doesnt have many figures from it, and from those very, very few are any good, but this is phenomenal. The Mortal Kombat X Fancy Expensive edition came with this scorpion statue. I am not a big scorpion fan, and I didnt really buy it for the statue, but I have to say it impressed the pants off me, and I sport it with pride on my desk. Oh my god, I love those 12 inch FMA Mustang and Alphonse figures. The Edward and Al figures under the huge Mustang, are those the Play Arts Kai figures?

I dig those Nendoroid figures too. I saw the MGS1 Solid Snake Nendoroid at a con back in March and I was going to get it, but they were charging a bit too much I thought. Solid Snake has the coolest extra head.

The one thing I'm super bummed about with Persona figures is that there isn't any Akihiko figures out there unless I feel like paying $150+ and I really don't feel like paying that.

So I finally bought my first Marvel Legends figure and overall I gotta say it's not bad. It's kinda what I expected from a $20 toy. No accessories besides a piece for the 'Build A Figure', the detail is decent but the articulation is actually pretty good. I had the choice between Spider-Man and Anti-Venom and I opted for Anti-Venom because I figured he'd be harder to get down the road. I'm debating on going back down to Target and getting Spider-Man just because I sorta feel weird having Anti-Venom without Spider-Man lol.

Recently i bought a Neca Terminator (from Terminator VS Robocop videogame series) and i gotta say i love the figure, the colors are "flashy" and "90's" but look awesome!
I also picked up "Bishop" from the Aliens series (NECA too...), and a used -not-too-loose- Judge Dredd by Toy Biz.
I've been debating wether to buy the latest Thor from Marvel Legends for a week now, shit i guess i'll end up buying it the thing looks great!

I was at FYE the other day and they had a Diablo 3: Shadow of Diablo figure and it looked bad ass. I kinda wanted to buy it even though I've never played Diablo lol. They also had both Robocop figures of both him on fire and him with a huge gun. The paint job on it kinda threw me off but the more I looked at it the more I liked it.

The only Marvel Legend figures I see around here are the Spider-Man line and nothing but Iron Man from the Avengers line.

So I'm gonna nerd out about the Figuarts DBZ line for the rest of this post because we got some awesome news from 2 weeks ago to tonight.

A Toy Fest in Japan going on right now with Bandai/Tamashii Nation having a huge section with DBZ and holy shit we got some fucking awesome reveals.

Advanced Colors of SSJ Vegeta and Trunks and then to top it off we get "Warrior Awakened" SSJ Goku.

This is super fucking awesome for people who didn't get into the Figuarts line back in 2012 and didn't get the chance to get SSJ Vegeta and Trunks. Both Vegeta and Trunks run for $200-$300 a piece. Tamashii has this weird rule that if it's a "Web Shop Exclusive" then it will never be reissued. So to get by this rule they do a repaint (This is how we get SDCC Exclusives). So "Advanced Colors" is pretty much a darker jacket for Trunks, colored boot tips for Vegeta and both have shine to their SSJ form hair. Trunks has a powered down head so I'm excited to see how they did with the purple hair. I'm hoping this means they'll do more of these Advanced Colors stuff because they really need to repaint their SSJ3 Goku. It looks like shit.

The battle damaged Goku though looks fucking awesome. I think they did an good job on the huge tears on his knees. His knee joints don't look like shit either when he's crouching.

Speaking of Goku. SDCC this year will have a Goku with symbols on his front and back, different belt, and include an extra face. If you look at the Goku in my earlier posts, you'll notice that there are no symbols on either Goku figures.

That was actually released as a con exclusive in Mexico, but Tamashii showed a little teaser picture for SDCC and it's 100% this figure but with a different box and possibly even a different symbol, but either way, we're getting a symbol which is much needed. I think the original base Goku looks bland now lol.

I'm really excited to see all of these figures come out because apparently this was a really slow line (3 figures a year (not including SDCC)) and now it's booming with releases left and right and all within a year and by the time we get into 2016, I'm sure there will be at least 3 more figures announced by then.

It's been almost a full year since this threads last update! Has anyone gotten anything good this past year? I've been trying to keep up with the Figuarts DBZ line - though I'm 3 figures behind now, I plan on picking the 3 up here within the next couple of months.

Lately I've been thinking about starting to collect the Marvel Legends lines. I'm really digging the few Legends figures I have and the previews for some of the up coming waves I've seen look great as well.

As I said above, Marvel Legends have been one of the few main focuses for me. I'm trying to build up a Spider Army and get the Uncanny X-Force crew together. Unfortunately, I'm not too big on the X-Force figures that are officially released other than the SDCC exclusive Archangel. So I'm going to have to make or buy some customs. I already have 4 ML Deadpool figures and I plan on using one to try my hand at painting him gray and black for his X-Force colors. Luckily there's a custom X-Force Wolverine from the new X-Men wave on eBay that's not too expensive, so I might buy him.

Basically This. Wish I read this man's word's of wisdom before hand, but now I'm stuck with a mortgage and basically in the process of selling all my collectibles. I've been selling tons of stuff these last 2 months to get ready for my move (next month). I've been down-sizing like CRAZY!

I've narrowed it down to a couple shelves. Here is what I'm left with that I've narrowed it down to. After this move I need to ***STOP*** buying toys. But, the problem is... once a collector, always a collector. It's in my blood. I'll probably never stop.

Who knows ... I'll almost bet by 2020 they'll be a Comic-Con exclusive since that will be the 30th anniversary of the film. I'm beyond excited that we're FINALLY getting 1/4th scale Shredder next year though. I can't wait for that one.

Hopefully Michelangelo gets released as promised on schedule by September!

since the black series version is going for such high prices i thought id try my luck with the medicom mafex boba fett, this is the empire strikes back version to be specific. a really great figure with pretty good articulation considering his suit, gauntlets and jet-pack etc. my only gripe is that i wish he had a heavy cloth cape as apposed to a rubber one, but thats just preference

Speaking of that. I just picked up the 40th anniversary Vader figure with its stand on clearance from Walmart for 30 bucks. I didn't want to shell the price of 2 figures for one figure and a stand. Hell, it's currently my only Star Wars figure and first since the originals I had back as a kid( damn you mother for giving them away).

It's so cool to see this thread alive. I don't visit ETS that often anymore because of life but when I do visit I check to see if this thread is still going. That Batman looks great. It was cool seeing him fly off the shelf when I worked at Toys R Us last Christmas. I had him right next to the Neca Christian Bale Batman and no one touched him. The Bale Batman looked like he was fucking cracked out of his mind. The eyes totally ruined him. I would always laugh when I saw people shift through all of them looking for ones that didn't have cracked out eyes. I'd just point em towards the 89 Batman.

I'm glad you're liking the Ultimate T2 figures. I've been getting the Ultimate Friday The 13th Jason figures and I love them. Jason has always been my favorite of the slashers and he comes with everything you could want. Part 3 comes with a machete, ax, pitchfork, wrench, knife, and a fucking harpoon gun. Also an extra head for his ax to squeeze into. I just recently got the Ultimate Part 4 Jason and I have him face first on the glass with a machete sliced into the side of his face.

When I mean I focused on Marvel Legends, I really mean the Spider-Man waves lol. There's a few Selects in there like the Amazing Spider-Man, Carnage, and Agent Venom, but the rest are Legends. I really just want to build a huge Spider-Army. The next Spider-Man wave is looking amazing too with Spider-Punk, Gwen-Pool, Mysterio, Lasher (green symbiote from the 90's lol) with Lizard being the Build-A-Figure. They're also doing a Deadpool wave with 90's Deadpool, 90's Cable, 90's Domino, Deathlok, and X-23. There's also going to be a Venom-Pool but that's unfortunately a Gamestop exclusive.

Speaking of exclusives, did anyone order anything from SDCC this year? The exclusives were looking too damn good this year. I ended up getting one of the ones I really wanted and it should be here hopefully by Monday. I'll be taking a lot of pictures of him once he's in.

Nice Jason pics. I'd venture into Marvel territory and get way too many Iron Man suits, so I decided early on to stick to DC Comics. I sadly didn't get any of the SDCC exclusives, but I might be getting the Rey/Luke Black Series pack soon. I really love Neca and can't wait to see how the Blade Runner stuff turns out. I'm really digging it and it's basically a mini Hot Toys. Cloth material for his outfit, a bunch of hands, 1 sword, 1 pistol, 1 assault rifle with a grenade launcher attachment, 4 mini grenade rounds you can put in the the launcher 4 Deadpool painted grenades and 1 interchangeable 'wtf' head. You can take out the clips on the rifle and the pistol and funny enough, mine didn't come with a pistol clip. I'm going to give Mezco customer service a call and ask if they possibly have an extra clip they could send me by any chance since I know for a fact it didn't come with one. If they can't it will be a massive bummer but nothing I wont get over.

I bought these little metal figures of the original eight characters from Street Fighter 2 for my brother. We spent at VERY least 1000 hours playing SF2 when we were kids. Neither of us are toy collectors, but when I saw these things, I knew I HAD to get them for him. The whole idea of the thing brought tears to my eyes.
THEN, right after I bought the fucking things, I got paged to customer service at Wal-Mart and it turned out that he and his family were stranded in a nearby town (which is fucking NUTS because he lives in Denver and I live in texas.
So I was able to give them to him immediately and we both got a little misty eyed and it was fucking awesome.

I have yet to play Nier Automata but I absolutely love 2b and her design. I was thinking about pre-ordering her but I just can't do it. SE has raised their prices way too high for what they have offered in terms of quality these past few years. Just be careful when handling her as I've read that SE/PAK have made their more recent figures more fragile.

Anyone interested in buying my SH Figuarts Krillin figure? Figure itself is in perfect condition and box has minor shelf wear but his destructo disc has a broken peg BUT it still fits in his hand just find - the disc just doesn't hover over his hand by an inch as it used it, it now hovers by maybe half an inch so it's really not that big of a deal (the peg before it broke made the disc a little too high over his hand). I'm looking to get $150 for em. Pricey I know but he's an official item and not a bootleg like the recent ones coming out.

I wouldn't get rid of him as I got such a good deal on him with my Broly way back in 2015 but unfortunately I got pre-orders I gotta take care of so Krillin has to go on the chopping block.

Also nice pre-order choices, Holgram. Mezco Punisher figures get snatched up fast and sky rocket in price. The gun blast effects alone are worth the pre-order on any Mezco Punisher figure.

That's part of the reason I never got into Funko Pops. There are just way too many of the same figure be it a normal variant, chase variant, or store exclusive or a specific convention exclusive. I mean there are other toy lines that have that as well, but Funko Pops I feel like are being released weekly where as the stuff I mostly collect come out about every other month or so - so it's a little easier on the wallet. At least it feels like it anyways lol.

Finally got around to getting a Marvel Legends Electro for a decent price and I really wasn't feelin' it at first, then I went to take some pictures for a friend and what a game changer an LED light strip makes. Went from 0 volts to 500k volts in just a click of a button.

You are not wrong about the release schedule; something is released every week. E-mails 2-4 times per week.

I got into Cuphead Funko. I found a sealed McFarlane Jimi Hendrix figure that comes with a small stage, a full stack amp, a guitar, some effect pedals, and a mic with a stand. I gotta say it's fucking awesome. I plan on getting a drum kit and a synth so I can get a full band going lol.

Was feeling partially low this weekend so went into London to purchase some LEGO (and was given some 'kids go free' vouchers for LEGOLAND so i could take my kids...i didn't have the heart to tell the cashier i don't have kids and the LEGO was for me lol)

My friend was able to go to NYCC the other weekend and I asked him if it was possible for him to stop by the Tamashii booth and pick up a con exclusive SH Figuarts DBS SSB Vegetto figure as he's already $100+ on eBay and only $60 at the show. He said he couldn't make it to the booth on Friday. Saturday evening he messaged me and told me he was able to snag one with no hassle whatsoever. He also surprised me with a Resident Evil 2 Remake shirt from the Resident Evil 2 demo area. I owe him big time for selling me Vegetto for retail price and hooking me up with a free shirt.

It's funny because I was wanting to get out of the Figuarts DBZ line just because it's getting too pricey with all the constant releases but this new Vegetto has me wanting to get back into the line again lol. I haven't bought one since SSG Goku back in December last year, so I have some catching up to do.

I like the SH Figuarts but i'm super (pun intended) into the Figure Rise model kits they do for Dragonball! They're really easy to build (everything is already coloured, you just need from small pliers to cut them out) and look bloody fantastic! AND they're pretty cheap!

I love the Figuarts line. It's what got me back into toy collecting after quitting for a couple of years. The Figure Rise kits are cool, but Figuarts just hits that sweet spot for me.

I agree, NECA has only get better and better! Really appreciate, and enjoy what they put out for only $20-30. Love the Terminator line, BR 2049, the Del Toro stuff starting to come out, Alien movies, and the 1990 versions of TMNT, ALL of it!

I absolutely love Mezco One:12. I could never afford, and would run out of space quickly with Hot Toys, so this is the next best thing to me. Collector friendly packaging, super possable figures, cool accessories, and real cloth goods have made this line my favorite to collect. They only downside is waiting 7-14 months for figures to be released haha. I really need Deadpool, but have been holding off in hopes they will do a Reynolds version of the suit. I grabbed ‘90s style Cable though, which I’m very excited for.

After 4 years of collecting the Figuarts DBZ line, I FINALLY got a Perfect Cell figure and it's the Event Exclusive Perfect Cell too so he's in his manga green and blue colors rather than his more well known green and purple color scheme. It's in my top 3 Figuarts figures already along with 2.0 SSJ3 Goku and Broly. He's just a solid figure with great sculpt and paint and he comes with one of the best blast effects. I'm also really digging how the black armor on him isn't all black like the last 2 releases. It's got a chrome look to it in person that my camera can't really pick up. I'm gushing over this thing lol.

^Very nice! I'm sure you saw people in the Neca group on Facebook going ape shit because they didn't get their TMNT figures. Really shitty of Gamestop to cancel orders. I wont pre-order through them after the shenanigans they tried to pull on me with my pre-orders of my Legends X-Men figures.


Finally got around to getting Majin Vegeta, Majin Buu, and Nappa. Both Nappa and Buu are pretty good figures, but Vegeta has one big problem that I totally forgot about (and the main reason I didn't pick him up immediately in the first place) and that is he comes with 2 of the same faces. One is supposed to be a stern face looking forward and another with the stern face but looking to the side instead of straight forward. Not a big deal, but still...

Try and maximise the limited space you have. For example i live in what's called a studio, but it's really just a room big enough for a single bed, single wardrobe, desk, sink and stove. So to maximise space i bought some IKEA units that were shallow, and set them up above my desk and adding glass windows and lighting, so i can display my collection and use the tops and shelving. I'll post some pictures when i get the chance.
Saying that they are already over-following and i need more space...

So i finally went ahead and re-did my room. Chucked out the old desk (that was taken up far too much room) and got one of them IKEA display units.

Still needs a bit of work (the right sided box with the dragonball figures i'm going to make into my DB diorama as soon as i'be built 17, 18 and future Trunks, and i'll get SS4 Gogeta and Piccolo at MCM Comic-con in a months time.

I need to add more lighting to the unit, i might move my Neno's to the left box (with my special editions) to make more room in the display.

Need to hand up my signed tickets (it's not in any of the photos...damnit!) and move the PS4 to above the box unit (it gets VERY warm in that lower right box!)

Lastly i'll need to put up some more shelves for LEGO and maybe add some artwork to go with my Ghost in the Shell picture. I am happy how the lighting around the bed went.

And maybe take some better pictures lol

All in all i'm pretty happy with my room...FINALLY!

(advice for anyone looking to get into figure-rise builds, get the Broley Super movie versions of Goku and Vegeta, they are basically the same of the standard versions but come with damage decals)

Was able to snag a Great Saiyaman at B&N the other week and got my Gogeta in today as well. Despite the lack of shading, these figures are just awesome and look great in the collection. Gogeta is probably one of my favorites in my entire collection and might be my DB Figuarts of the year. I can't wait to get Broly and SSG Vegeta. I'm going to need 3 of the SSG Vegetas for the multiple heads lol.

Yeah, i go Forbidden Planet whenever i can, but the reduction in other figures is really disappointing. They used to (we're going back a decade here) have a load of imported anime models and kits, now your lucky to get more then a handful whereas whole rows are dedicated to just funko's. They have started stocking the odd Gunpla kit which is fucking awesome but obviously they need to sell what's popular to stay in business and funko's are hot shit for them...at least there comic sections still great!

My kids wanted to do the elf on the shelf thing. That little fucker was sold out all month long. My wife, the genius that she is, said we will do a house elf on a shelf. So all month my kids were finding Dobby doing mischief. The kids are sad that dobby is going away for the year. But, as papa clause filled the bottom of the tree, I decided to have one last laugh with dobby.

Random bump, but I'm trying to get rid of some figures I don't want anymore so I can finally build a PC and get some streaming stuff. Figured I'd post here.

Selling a Todd McFarlane Kickstarter Spawn figure (classic version). All complete with original shipper box and everything else. Only thing he doesn't come with is the autographed plaque, but that isn't this version to begin with. He was taken out of the box to take a few pictures and then displayed in my display case. He was displayed for about a month or so before I put him back in the box because as much as I liked the figure, it didn't fit the rest of my collection. So he got put back in his box and put in my closet. Kinda forgot about it until recently lol.

Before our place burnt down in a wildfire I had the sickest vintage toy collection! Ahhhh! I loved those little GloWorm toys - I had the treehouse they lived in and they were awesome. Not super edgy but just cute. I also had a set of Jem dolls which I’d had for probably 20 years... I loved those dolls. Maybe one day I’ll find some again.

I was never planning to collect Star Wars figures, but I had rewards points expiring with Sideshow that I needed to spend, so I got C-3PO for free a few months ago. Had more points that were expiring at the end of last month, so I got R2-D2 for free now as well, because really you can't have one without the other. R2 is super cool with his flashing lights and his accessories that I'll never set up again because of how time consuming it is to do so.
