Hoping to make it to this show. Not sure about this venue - haven't heard good things.

As I mentioned in another thread, it's a real bummer they picked this day to do this show as I will be in Chicago the previous weekend and will be headed back the Tuesday on the week of the show. I'm not sure if I can find the schedule and time with work to then find a way back to Chicago that Thursday as quickly.

I haven't heard great things about the venue either but with Nine Inch Nails having Death Grips open for them, I'm willing to figure something out. Here's hoping that I can!

No Death Grips at this show (or Toronto), according to the Soundgarden Web page. Is it correct? Dunno.

I stopped seeing anything at this venue because of the horrible sound and that "everything else." Jesus Christ on drums and a resurrected John Lennon on guitar playing The Perfect Drug wouldn't get me back to this venue.

I live 5 minutes from the venue, but I'm really stressing about this one. Hate this place so fricking much. The staff is incapable of doing their jobs correctly and just don't give a single fuck about anything and the sound does suck. The only time it didn't was when Roger Waters played there in 2006 because he brought his own extra speakers and put them at the top of the lawn. Anyway, hoping to get pit, which I've never done for this venue. Really hoping I won't get screwed out of presale.

Edit: Also, now I'm worried there won't be a pit and just seating. That'll be a bummer because I'm also going to Clarkston, so I was really hoping to have one pit ticket for this tour, but everything seems kinda unclear. Oh well, we'll see soon enough. :/

We did pit when NIN was there with Bauhaus, whenever the hell that was. That was officially my last straw for this suck ass venue. I did 4 Lollapaloozas here, suffered through all kinds of other bands including nearly being killed by a tornado for HORDE. No more. The Tweeter World Whatever can fuck right off.

LOL. love how quick this became a hate the venue thread. But ALAS, I, likely will be in attendance, so who's down for a little meetup on site when this all gets organized?

I'm a floor man, so do I click the "GA" cheap tickets? Or will that just put me in really shitty seating? I can't imagine a NIN show with no standing pit. This is the same place that had Peaches and Peter Murphy, yes?

Pretty sure the "GA cheap tickets" are the lawn ones, way in back.

03-17-2014, 12:24 PM
So, looks like no pit. Ticketmaster showed a PIT section but I think that's a glitch, it was priced the same as lawn and I didn't get any tickets to come up. And if there was a pit, it would have been on NIN presale.

There appears to be no pit for this show? The official Platinum seats has a listing for Sec 103, row D which would would either make the pit three rows deep (a through c) or non-existent.

Looks like you're right, I checked Death Grips Facebook page and they didn't show a listing either. Maybe it's due to the fact they're playing Pitchfork Festival a week prior to the NIN show.

Oh well.

Looks like I might check out the Atlanta show.

Guess who actually lives in Tinley and got royally fucked by captchas and didn't get a NIN presale ticket? This girl. Beyond livid on how that went down. Ended up getting a Soundgarden presale ticket for $117 (ew) and I'll be sec 104, row N, seat 19. Also this will be the first time I won't have a NIN presale ticket. Figures though, right?

I managed to get tickets though the NIN.com presale. I first chose P1($99) and it gave me section 101, which was way left of the stage. So I re-chose, but this time I chose P2($79) and got seats in section 102. Which is in front of the stage. So I ended up getting better seats for cheaper. This presale makes no sense...

True, but getting tix for NIN|JA dates wasn't frustrating at all for me. Plus, with Jane's playing lolla that year, the show at Charter One was way cheaper with just SSSC & NIN.

Lawn seats are horrible at any amphitheater- hence the cheapo price. :) Not bad to grab those things for some band that you're not really into and just hang around BS'ing with friends, with music blaring in the back ground. I guess they serve that purpose or if someone is really on a budget.

I think I'm going to sit this one out then, unless I can score some better seats at the public on sale..

If you could score anything in the 204 or 205 section, that's miles better then the lawn. Any of the other 200's sections you run the risk of a pillar blocking your view, and there's a lot of pillars...

I expected to come in here seeing everyone happy..didn't expect to end up being one of so few lucky to get great seats. I got 103 row A, just a little right of center. Needless to say...my wife and I are pretty happy with that, and I guess that proves the "pit" row was being sold.

Sorry to hear so many of you got hosed.

Tinley security tends to be really strict about people trying to climb closer to the stage from their original row. I've seen many people ejected in the past 15 years. So..Just be wary of that..don't go getting yourselves kicked out over a couple rows.

You get a pretty decent view from nearly anywhere in the seats. Lawn here...kind of awful if you really want to watch, but it's fun for going with a group to hang out just enjoy hearing the music. Having the 15 min early entry will definitely help lawn people out for getting a decent spot to still see stage.

I'd also like to point out that as far as I'm aware, The World/Tweeter/First Midwest Bank Amphitheater (whatever the hell you want to call it) has never had a traditional "pit". Front row seats is front row seats. I've been here many times since the year it opened (as The World) in many different sections, including skybox seats (I highly recommend... worth it for the exclusive bathrooms and beer maids) and I've never seen a general admin in front of the seated ticket holders. Not to say it doesn't happen, but if it does.. I've never seen it.

Just a heads up for anyone still looking for tickets. 95.1 WIIL is giving away tickets all week, the DJ giving them away usually comes on around 2pm. You just gotta be caller #10 when she announces it, pretty simple.

I really wish I could be near my best friend lady_weetly but this whole presale mess screwed it all up. I wish they would've said beforehand that this show was going to be seats (and lawn) only, that way Rachel and I could've worked something out so I could buy her ticket with mine and we'd at least be together. But oh well I guess, I'm really happy I managed to get as good of a seat as I did, and now that it's finally setting in that I'm seeing NIN again I'm getting pretty excited, even if it is just seats. It'll be an awesome show no matter what, It's Nine Inch Fucking Nails.

Question for the few of you that live around the area...

I'm staying at the Holiday Inn Chicago-tinley Park Convention Center which is I guess only a mile + away from the venue. Anyways, I've been there before but have never stayed at one of the local hotels. I know parking and getting in-out is a real bitch. What are the chances of getting a cab to the venue and one back to my hotel afterwords? Do they even run through there?

If I'm looking at Google maps right, its like a 35 minute walk from the venue! As for crossing rt.80(4 lane high way) just use the Oak Park bridge. Even with a cab, it might be faster to walk. The hotel may have a free shuttle that runs between, call and ask.

Hey guys, figured I'd post this in here: I have 3 pavilion tickets together that I'm willing to sell for below face to this show. They're in Sec 205 Row PP seats 33-35. This is the upper pavilion but it's the center section only 6 rows up. Livenaiton did a ticket drop and I was able to grab 3 seats like 12th row in Sec 103 and I couldn't pass them up. The seats in 205 were purchased through the pre sale though so I have to meet at the venue but we could arrange that very easily and use Paypal if you want to ensure the purchase as well. Let me know if anyone's interested. I paid $95 a seat for these and I'll sell them for $80 each.

If you're not in the premiere lot, parking is def free. In terms of how early to get there I have no idea. I stopped sitting lawn awhile ago especially with the sound at this venue. It's like a whole different experience when you're in the pavilion. That being said...

SOMEONE BUY MY UPPER PAVILIONS! Never thought I'd have this much trouble selling legit seats for this band for $20 below face value per ticket. At this point I'll go even lower, $70 per ticket and their yours if anyone wants them. Once again they're in the center section only like 6 rows up. Great view of the state/light set up. These are normally $95 face value. Help a guy out.

Sound everywhere is bad. The sound is better in the parking lot. Just worry about parking as close to the exits as possible, do NOT forget where you parked, relax and attempt to enjoy yourself. This venue sucks everywhere so now that you're stuck you might as well be Zen about it.

Someday somebody will bulldoze this place and save us all.

A buddy of mine has a spare ticket for this show :). This from her FB account (her FB name is Weird Phoenician):

"I've been so busy enjoying myself, I have forgot to work on ticketing issues. I have a +1 for tomorrow for nine inch nails at Tinley Park (Chicago area). Sec 102, row H. High quality production, always! Asking face value minus fees ($100) but am willing to negotiate. It would be a crime to go unused! My ETS username is 'darkreverend' if they want to message me there but fb will be better. Please and thanks."

Drop her line if you're interested! And enjoy the show!!

Sound everywhere is bad. The sound is better in the parking lot. Just worry about parking as close to the exits as possible, do NOT forget where you parked, relax and attempt to enjoy yourself. This venue sucks everywhere so now that you're stuck you might as well be Zen about it.

Someday somebody will bulldoze this place and save us all.

exactly...it was a dagger in the eye when they announced this was the venue. sucks, but saved me $$ not having to go to this shithole. i'm even more surprised trent would play here, he has to know the awful reputation this place has (especially for sound quality).

You still looking to sell these tickets?

Getting more and more excited and nervous for this show! I've never been to this venue (yes I have read the thread and heard everyone saying it's a shithole) but parking's gonna be free? I'm not too concerned about how long it'll take me to get out of the parking lot (I can wait and chill while everybody else gets moving.) I have a presale ticket, how early does the parking lot open, anybody know? The email stresses to get there early so just wondering how early I should show up without being turned away because they wont let me park yet, hahaha.

For the record I've done presale before, but always was one of the ones with a GA presale ticket camping out in the wee hours of the morning to get a rail spot, haha. So this is a new situation for me.

Anyways, yay NIN!!!!!

Actually, sound up in the box seats is pretty good. Was up there one year for OzzFest. I think Korn , Disturbed and Marilyn Manson were all on the bill.

I've got NIN presales and in the email I got it said we can pick up our tickets at 5:00. I just got off the phone with the venue and they said that their parking lots don't open until 5:00.

Does anybody have any experience with this venue that might be able to speak to this situation? I am planning to get there good and early for some NIN family time. I guess of we don't hear anything else on the situation we'll most likely be bypassing the whole parking lot bullshit and taking a cab to the venue.

yikes not liking the sound of that, I don't have the option to take a cab so I have to drive (and would like to be there in plenty of time like the presale email stresses so that I can buy all the merch and take all the bathroom trips I want.) Regardless I guess I'm still going to drive down the hourish to Tinley in the early afternoon (maybe be there by 3 or 4ish) and hope they're letting people park when I get there. If not I guess I'll just have to figure something out until they do open their lot, I don't know.

I've been to this venue once and my only advice is don't fuck around. Give yourself plenty of time. There is a major traffic back up to get in. It was a nightmare sitting in traffic to get in to see a show.

Also, I have a pre sale ticket available. Please see the map on the previous page for Location of weird Phoenician. SEC 102, Row H

I'm assuming he likes the venue considering it's at least the third time they've played it. 94 with Bowie, LITS tour and now. What's funny is, I think the venue has been technically named something different every time. ...so maybe he just isn't realizing he's booking the same place.

From NIN's Facebook. Already have tickets in 204 with multiple people, otherwise I'd probably look to upgrade. Maybe some folks back in lawn can snatch a better seat, though. Some decent stuff in the 10X sections.

"Chicago fans - we were able to open up a few more great seats for tonight's show. Get them here while you can: http://bit.ly/1ryh661"

Well lesson learned with pre sales. Fuck this shit man. Couldnt get a refund, cant sell them online because they're will call only. Now I'm in the hole $285 for seats no one is going to use. They dropped a bunch more good ones today. Never again.

I was on the fence about this show for a while. Not crazy about the venue. Not really into Soundgarden. I would have preferred to see the Tension tour if they could have made a Chicago stop. I'd prefer DEP as the opener.

But it's been a shitty year. If this is the last tour for a while I might as well see them while I can. So I'll be out on the lawn somewhere.

So parking opens at 5 and we can get our tickets at 5? How does that make any sense? So much for getting there early...

UPDATE:

They said that they're allowing presale folks into the parking lot starting at 2:00, so we're first in line at Entrance 1 to get let into the lot at 2:00. Also, the presale entry is at Gate 5.

I don't think he has *anything* to do with booking. He has people his manager pays to do that stuff. He just shows up and plays. This venue, unfortunately, has the largest outdoor capacity in the area except for Soldier or Wrigley Fields. So when a booking person is looking at an outdoor venue with x amount of capacity, this is it. (It has changed hands quite often. The old Lollapaloozas used to play here.)

Just got here. Think they're already letting people pick up their presale tix. Merch was stocked and no line, but they didn't have as many shirts as the other pics I've seen.

Currently chilling in my car listening to SG sound test.
