Apologies if this thread exists somewhere, but (much to my surprise) I couldn't find one. So, how about these guys/gal?! Especially the "Eno trilogy". I tragically didn't get into them until a few years ago, but they've broadened and enhanced my musical appreciation immensely since then.

I've been meaning to get into them. I have a best of collection that I really enjoy, but haven't heard any full albums. Where should I start?

I had been a casual fan up until last year when I sat down and listened to all of their albums. Simply one of the best bands ever.

Hard to say where to start. I guess I would start with Remain In Light, then Talking Heads: 77, then wherever you want to go from there. That's just my recommendation though.

Remain In Light is such an obvious high water mark that it kinda warps the way I listen to the rest of their albums. It's like those albums where all the songs are good but there's one track right in the middle that is so mindblowingly great it towers over all the tracks around it. I love the first three albums, but I can't help hearing them as less developed versions of what they would ultimately do on Remain In Light. And then with all the stuff afterword, some of it's really great, but you can see the inspiration receding. Remain In Light is the peak.

You can't go wrong with any of their albums, honestly.

While their last 3 albums are good, they don't really compare to their first five.
I would recommend just starting with 77 and moving forward. Either that or start with just Remain in Light and More Songs about Buildings and Food. After listening to those two you'll end up wanting to listen to everything else anyway, I guarantee it.

I gave Remain in Light a listen today and immediately had to listen to it again. Excited to dive into the rest of their discography.

Wasn't sure if I should post this here or create a David Byrne thread. Anyway, he has a new album out on March 9th called "American Utopia". Here's the first single:

Real upset he's doing such a small tour and isn't even coming to his hometown of NYC. Ah well, hopefully a bigger tour is in the pipeline afterwards. He's on my legends list that I still haven't seen.

The press release says, "extensive additional dates to be announced soon."

I'd be down to go see him, too.

One of my absolute favorite audio/video experiences, I hope I can see it in a good theater.

^ That's funny, I like that the laundry ticket has the original release date of the film on it!

I have the "brick" boxset. I need to take a deep-dive and spend a week on it someday.

My favorite:

So excited for this. Been waiting for it ever since they posted those pics of the original film negative. Hopefully it plays near me, and hopefully a new Blu-ray release is forthcoming too.

One of my all-time favorite groups. I listen to Speaking in Tongues, Remain in Light, and Fear of Music pretty regularly.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that the Laserdisc version of Stop Making Sense had extra tracks that the Blu-ray didn't?
