A lot of you have probably heard about the Bryan Singer controversy that's come up over the last few days. Here's some good news for once about a director's sex allegations.

HONOLULU (AP) — Credit card receipts, telephone records and production schedules show that "X-Men" franchise director Bryan Singer was not in Hawaii when a lawsuit claims he sexually abused a 17-year-old on the islands, a defense attorney said Friday.

Singer was mainly in Toronto working on the first "X-Men" movie from August through October 1999, defense attorney Marty Singer told The Associated Press.

A lawsuit filed by a former child model, Michael Egan III, says Bryan Singer abused him several times over those three months as well as earlier in California as part of a Hollywood sex ring led by another man convicted of luring minors across state lines for sex.

"This was Bryan's first studio film," Marty Singer said. "Clearly, he's not going to take a break in the middle of this movie while you're shooting and prepping it to go to Hawaii."

Egan's lawyer, Jeff Herman, did not immediately respond to phone calls seeking comment.

No, because Breakfast at Tiffany's is considered a Hollywood classic. It's weird they would leave it off, but they did because of his stupid character.

Best tribute quote ever

Actor and long-time friend Adrian Edmondson said of Rik Mayall: "There were times when Rik and I were writing together when we almost died laughing. They were some of the most carefree stupid days I ever had, and I feel privileged to have shared them with him.

"And now he's died for real. Without me. Selfish b*****d."

Was absolutely gobsmacked by this. Managed to see him live 3 times in his career - two Bottoms, and a rare stand up tour (per Bottom). Possibly my favourite work of his was a one off epsiode in Rik Mayall Presents - Dancing Queen, where he plays a toff about to get married, who gets stranded in Scarborough, 100's of miles from the wedding venue on the day of his wedding, and ends up being looked after by Helena Bonham Carter (his stripper at the previous nights stag do). Beautiful piece of work, which I only rewatched about a month ago. Will be sorely missed.

Remember when I said in the Dead Souls thread that the battle for Casey Kasem's estate had only begun with his death? Well, I hate being right.

Casey Kasem's body is missing from the funeral home (http://www.people.com/article/casey-kasem-body-missing-cremation)

The theory is that his wife removed it before the order to the funeral home to keep it for autopsy could be delivered. Even more bizarre, his wife can't be located.

RIP Robin Williams...

Shocked me big time! I know he has been having some hard times but I didn't think they were that bad. Lots of people, including my best friend, talk shit about his comedy and acting roles but I enjoy a great majority of them. I'm really, really surprised and not in a good way. This is the first time a celebrity's death has actually made me feel bad, legit.

Piko
08-11-2014, 07:40 PM
There's very few celebrities that would effect me. Robin was one of them. He's easily one of the funniest, most entertaining people, ever. A huge loss to everyone. I grew up watching his movies. A huge part of my upbringing. He was one of the elite with guys like Jerry Lewis. There will never be another one like him.

Maximilian

Yeah, this whole Robin Williams thing just bothers me, I'm usually indifferent when a celebrity dies. Really the whole concept of suicide I will never, ever understand, except in the cases of painful terminal illnesses.

That's just me though, I get depressed but never that badly.

botley

Depressive episodes are ridiculously painful and sadly an inescapable part of the illness he suffered from; in this case, apparently it was terminal. I wish the best for his family in this dark time. So many people loved him and he touched so many of us with his work. It's a tremendous loss. I saw him working in person once, around the time this photo was taken (not at E3 but on the set of Death to Smoochy). Incredible guy, everything you'd hope for and more.

I'm thinking this wasn't a one time event. It's a collection from many hacks over the years. I'm curious if someone was fucking with wifi or bluetooth hijacking at the oscars or something.

Ah yes, the old "well she DID go out in a *short* skirt" defense.
Yes and no, what i mean is I'm not trying to justify anything.. this is disgusting and basically rape-lite but i think there's something a little different where the biggest mistake if I'm understanding the incident correctly from these people was not quite the creation of the photos for personal and consensual use that's nothing that should warrant any blame or excuse but the posting of the photos on the internet, i think that's where you'd have more common sense......you're promised all the security in the world but you should still know better that there unfortunately is no privacy on the Internet.... ever. Tenfold when you're a celebrity.

It's like choosing to knowingly walk outside naked and expect that nobody is going to see you, that is a completely unrealistic expectation.

I'm sure all it would take is a techie that works at DropBox or iCloud, really any of these broadband networks to cross a line.. How do people seriously put so much trust in to this stuff?

The moment you put ANY personal information in front of a corporation, hell even if it's a damn bank.., your credit cards, i don't care what it is.... you completely run that risk of opening yourself to intruders and that risk is huge. I wish people were more wise with the things they divulge.

I absolutely agree that this is not a legit excuse but still. These are celebrities and they know they have a constant target on their back.
If you want to film yourself getting a cumshot on your face, do it with a Gopro and put it on a local drive or something.
Do not film this shit with your iPhone and do not store this on iCould.
You know this could permanently damage your career so why even take the risk.

I truly feel sad for Lawrence and others. She legitimately looks like a sweet girl and it's unfortunate that her private life has been exposed that way.

You know, here's the thing I don't get about this: About a month ago, my phone suddenly started reporting that it couldn't retrieve my iCloud email. I checked, and this was consistent on all of my devices (2 iPads, iMac, etc.). Sure enough, I was locked out of my iCloud account. I called Apple, and the Apple tech dude asked me some security questions that I probably answered about 10 years ago. I failed to answer 2 of the 3 EXACTLY (what was the first album I bought, what was the first concert I attended, what was my first car) so then he asked me my credit card number. I actually had that correct. He still would not let me into my account, I had to wait 72 full hours to access my own account (I only got this because I had the credit card number, otherwise I wouldn't get in at all), and he would not change the password to my account. Which means, if I had been hacked somebody else had access to my account and I could not stop them. So he says "well, did you get an email warning?" I said, dude, I can't access my email. He didn't understand this. I immediately went into every account I had that used that iCloud email address, changed it to another Gmail account that has, like, 3 levels of security, I set up a random password generator and changed my passwords on everything, etc. When I finally got access to my iCloud account, it looked fine, and I still don't know what happened (the 2nd Apple tech dude I called suggested that maybe GMAIL caused it, wtf, eye roll). But, knowing Apple's "72 hour lockdown policy" the iCloud hack seems like maybe there was something else going on in addition to this. They're saying a Python script for Find My iPhone but it seems to be worse. They're finding DELETED photos?

I think DigitalChaos hit it on the head re bluetooth hijacking from a really long time ago, and they've been sitting on this shit for a while.

Not sure if I posted it here last night, but apple has allowed unlimited password attempts against their accounts. Once you know the email address, getting in is fairly easy. I think only a portion of the dump was iCloud sourced though.

Now, the Apple guys I talked to said they locked down my account after a certain number of attempts, that's why it was locked down. They said it could have been that one of my email apps on one of my devices had a bad password and that can cause it, or it can be an attempted hack, but either way it causes lockdown. This is the message you see.

Yes, that's the biggest fucking problem with Apple ... *everything* is tied to AppleID; iTunes, iCloud, email, FindMyiPhone, the whole fucking 9 yards. Hence why I moved everything out of AppleID; that "what was your first album?" security level is stupid. I did read articles about not answering anything honestly, though, so I never give honest answers to anything anymore, and never give my birthday. The problem is remembering which date I gave them LOL. Which increased my AppleID security problem (they don't have my real birthday). But this "Brute Force" script thing is a different story.

Yeah, my new phone came with an account for "Keeper" so I've been using that. And I use the same stupid answer for the security questions. I'm not too happy with Keeper, though, because it charges you once for backup but then keeps trying to charge you on all your devices to back up and I keep telling it to fuck off. edit: okay, I went and changed the security questions and saved them in Keeper. for money? Money didn't really come into it until it all started to fall apart (if this story is true). It's a bunch of people who were all trading stolen shit with each other. As for the big mystery of WHO would do something like this... uh... have you ever been around an adolescent male? Before the internet, there was the common "boys will be boys" line concerning how desperate they were to see some skin. Be it stealing porn or hiding somewhere private to catch a peek. Now, we have the internet and people really don't understand some basic security. It makes getting your hands on private data much easier and the risk of getting caught during the act much harder.

I'm in no way excusing this shit, but I just don't see it as OMG SO SHOCKING.

I'd love for Apple to take quite a hit on this and for it to prompt companies to elevate their security practices. I'd love for individuals to advance their understanding of security a bit... even if it is just "don't put anything on internet attached devices that you aren't ok making public"

The fact that money even came into this at all is hilarious bullshit, that's why it's "shocking" to me.

My initial post here hasn't changed my opinions, facepalms given and all, about having sympathy and not having sympathy for the ones effected. However, the fact idiots are going to these levels and extremes is just so out there and laughably pathetic for what they do in their real lives that this online "makes up for it" or some shit. I'm sure this gives purpose or enjoyment to some but they're just photos and nothing fantastic to covet and swap like fucking trading cards. Ah, well the money thing was likely the death throws of this "ring." When we have TMZ's in this world, money will always come into situations like this. I'm actually surprised it took this long. That actually really speaks toward the true motivation (perving the fuck out). It would be unlikely for money to come into it before then unless you were a rich kid without any skills... they usually get laughed at and attacked though.

As for people who waste their time, the desire to get into shit you shouldn't be in is a part of bored youth. I've watched kids deface government websites in the late 1990's just because. Another common thing was porn/warez trading bots on IRC that operated very similar to this proposed circle (you first contribute, then you get credits to take some data). Some people also never grow out of it. The guy who got 10 years for doing this to Scarlett Johansen was fucking 35!

I don't know. Maybe I've just been too close to this kind of crap all these years. I know how common it is and it's why I am more careful with my stuff. I feel really bad for the people who don't know any better and learn the lesson the hard way.

We both remember those old days when many good UNIX hackers insisted they did it to point out glaring security holes, although they usually left a calling card showing they'd been there, not something violating and abusive to these females like this. While this does seem like an embarrassment to Apple, this is particularly abusive and malicious to these females, not the harmless hacking from my old days.

Also, see this: http://m.theatlantic.com/entertainment/archive/2014/09/leaked-photos-nude-celebrities-abuse/379434/

If Jennifer Lawrence was to pose naked on the cover of Playboy, for example, I’m sure it would be a best-selling issue. But it wouldn’t have the same scandalous, viral appeal as private images stolen from her phone. Because if she shared nude images consensually, then people wouldn’t get to revel in her humiliation. And that’s really the point, isn’t it? To take a female celebrity down a notch? (We have a term for when this is done to non-celebrity women: “revenge porn.”)

There is an obsessive tendency in American culture with elevating women—young, beautiful women, especially—to celebrity status just to bask in their eventual fall. There’s also a tendency in American culture, meanwhile, to shame women for their sexuality. So I would not be surprised in the days ahead to see arguments as to why this is somehow the fault of the celebrities whose phones were hacked—that these women took the pictures, that they were posing, that generating publicity is part of their job.

But victim-blaming is just that, no matter how famous the victim is. We live in a culture with a peculiar relationship to female celebrity. In much the same way that misogyny tells men that women are there for male consumption, the public and media tell us that famous women are public property. It’s why models and pageant queens are expected to smile graciously and respond to horny teen boys asking them to prom, or why they’re called uptight bitches if they don’t smile for every camera shoved in their face. The underlying premise is that these women have consented to being there for public entertainment—whether they like it or not.

The fact that photos have been shared already is beside the point and a weak justification for violating someone’s privacy and sense of safety. Even if we’re not the people who stole the pictures, and even if we’re not publishing them on blogs or tweeting them out, looking at naked photos of someone who doesn’t want us to goes beyond voyeurism; it’s abuse.

This whole leaked nudes thing isn't new. It happens all the time to people who aren't celebrities. Hell, there are even threads on 4chan where people try to ruin people's lives by threatening to show them to their love ones. It's absolutely disgusting. Sad thing is, "private" things posted on the internet will never be private because there's always some scumbag out there willing to spend their time trying to retrieve them. Not trying to victim blame, but seriously, don't post your nudes on the internet. Seriously. It will bite you in the ass.

The ones whose asses should be bitten are the pig boyfriends who post this shit and the pigs who look at it. (Revenge porn is a felony in 9 states and is about to be a felony in Illinois. 6 more states are currently passing similar criminal legislation, and it's expected to grow.) edit: highlighted so aggroculture can see it ;)

New Yorker article: http://www.newyorker.com/tech/elements/jennifer-lawrence-leak?utm_source=tny&utm_campaign=generalsocial&utm_medium=facebook&mbid=social_facebook

The larger security problem, it seems, comes from a general misunderstanding about how a smartphone differs from, say, a large online forum. Most discreet people know not to upload nude photos onto the Internet but are unaware that a photograph shared privately, through a text message or e-mail, is hardly private at all.

“Storing data on a phone carries an inherent risk,” Felten wrote. “The complexity of the software on our phones, and the network and cloud infrastructure to which they connect, makes it difficult to identify, let alone secure, all of the points of vulnerability. It’s prudent to assume that anything on your phone is potentially at risk.”

Over the past few years, smartphone and app companies have gone to great pains to make our devices feel safe and private. The amount of personal information stored on smartphones, and, by extension, the cloud, is in odd contrast to the vague, general anxiety that arises whenever photographs leak. For most people, it seems that convenience and ubiquity ultimately win out. “We use our smartphones almost like they are part of our brains,” Green said. “I don’t think people realize how much of themselves they’re giving to Apple, and potentially to hackers.”

And I'm victim blaming? I'm blaming the internet, and you're skewing my meaning. The internet is severely flawed, especially now, and what I'm saying is that it is a really bad time to post anything that might come to bite you in the ass, whether it be nudity or something as simple as a flawed opinion. People are more than ever wanting to play hacker, and at this point, I think it's too late to stop it without ruining the internet.

Your stolen thumb drive idea needs work though. It's more like someone stealing a thumb drive that was hanging out in a PO box style room where everyone comes to get their drives. A lot of that changed the moment images became part of the Internet though. I think you also have to consider that a lot of this doesn't fall into the revenge porn style. Some is more in the voyeuristic style. Simply seeing something you shouldn't. This should be even more evident in the act of keeping the images secret for a while (assuming that's true).

Another interesting aspect is the people who were resharing the images. Quite a few were excluding certain images they deemed "too much."

All good! That's sufficient enough for me to do some additional research. I feel fairly obligated to keep informed on all aspects of organizations I give money to. I had only been aware of their objections such as what is detailed here: http://www.acluct.org/updates/revenge-porn-bill-needs-changes/ Those are very agreeable objections.

Looping back toward the original topic. This link also contains an interesting bit:

"The bill would violate the principle, which has been consistently upheld in court, that third parties are protected from penalties for disseminating information if they got the information without engaging in any illegal actions themselves, Staub wrote. “To impose criminal penalties on uninvolved third parties sharing legally obtained images in this manner violates the core principles of freedom of speech and of the press.”"

I'm not sure how absolute this is, but I think that could create issues with the idea that a separate group of people could be responsible for the "sex crime" portion of disseminating the images to the public. The sex crime portion would have to be the act of the thief transferring the data to ANY other person... even if it is just one.

Is there any difference between doing this not in public?

It's much more like putting a hidden camera in someone's bedroom/bathroom. Every court case I can find about charges the person with invasion of privacy, not a sex crime.

There are some interesting per-state laws surrounding this type of thing. Some do hook into sex crimes. I think the answer lies inside a lot of the criminal voyeurism statutes that exist, specifically ones connected to sexual purpose and transmission.

In the case of revenge porn, in many states it's actually seen as a domestic violence crime and is included in Orders of Protection language. It's now considered a form of criminal domestic abuse. So I guess if you carried the "violation of your person" status over to strangers, the people who are victims of something like that just happened the other day see it as a kind of visual gang-rape by strangers because of the sexual nature. Since the term "rape" is not really used in legal terms, anymore, and has been replaced by "sexual assault," then ... it would be maybe be a visual sexual assault. Look at it this way: child porn is seen as a sex crime even though many/most of the people viewing it and distributing it did not actually have any physical contact with the child. This is because of obvious reasons relating to criminal deviant sexual and child predatory behavior. Those found guilty must register as 'sex offenders' even if they technically never had sex, and of course this all makes sense. If the public at large begins viewing adult revenge porn, or even the theft we saw the other day, as deviant criminal sexual behavior, then the legal response will be to treat it with punishment in the same manor in order to protect our society from a growing number of victims and to prosecute it in a punitive enough way to attempt to thwart it while also not ridiculously impeding people's rights.

#1 - Their 2 factor auth is REALLY fucking bad, so fuck Apple for even suggesting that as a fix
#2 - Yes, that really points toward the icloud dumps happening via unlimited password attempt brute forcing AFTER identifying someone's email. (Fuck apple for even rolling something like that out)

http://www.tuaw.com/2014/09/02/think-iclouds-two-factor-authentication-protects-your-privacy/

This really only touches the surface of how bad Apple's 2FA. They only apply it to portions of their services (mostly things that touch your credit card). Last I checked, they didn't even have it rolled out globally. They have it so awkwardly setup that you can lose your entire account because of how they automatically remove devices without prompting you. You can get new devices hooked into various portions of your account without ever hitting a 2FA challenge (like in the article).

I really hope the security community beats Apple up on this one. I'm off to get the ball rolling on that where I can. *so fucking pissed*

I've been a big apple fan for the last ~7 years. I jumped on the first iPhone and have had every yearly model since then. I got a macbook pro right around the same time because they finally switched to intel chips. I quickly fell in love. But yes... things got shitty as Jobs started to close things up at Apple. 10.9 (Mavericks) has been such a shitty experience. The iTunes Match service was awesome but seems to have fallen into a state of having zero maintenance. It will take HOURS to match a new song. Whey the fuck am I paying for that!? I don't have anything too horrible to say about the iPhone environment, but I have been seriously thinking about picking up an android for my next phone (which will be purchased by Oct).

I think Apple will make it's future obvious when their "next big thing" comes out without Jobs. They haven't released any of these yet, and this has always been what makes Apple the magical company that they are (ipod, macbook, iphone, ipad, appleTV, etc). It will either be awesome, or a sad failure.

I will say that Apple's security has always been pretty horrible and their services haven't been demonstrations of excellence. They only recently rolled out some basic security into their primary OS that Windows has had for ages (for example). They have slowly improved this over the years and are at their best right now. There is still room for a LOT of improvement though.

And a bit that I didn't realize:
"Security researcher Vladimir Katalov (who works at Elcomsoft, imagine that) presented his findings on the iCloud protocol, including what portions of iCloud are protected by two-factor authentication, at the Hack In The Box security conference late last year — and posted about the issues as early as May of last year."

Classic Apple. The did jack shit about it. A very similar hole popped up in 2010 between Apple and AT&T by Weeve. He tried to disclose it to them, but was instead rewarded with a prosecution. Apple also has a HORRIBLE security model. There is no bug bounty program. Apple doesn't even respond to submissions when people provide them. This kind of security model encourages the kind of thing we are seeing this week.

the article mentions this, but just to reinforce: This isn't something Apple worked with law enforcement to build. These guys simply examined how Apple's shit works and built a tool to bypass their security. They even announced the crappy security a year ago (see my prior post). Apple didn't fix it. So, they built a tool. The primary market for a tool like this is going to be law enforcement. Script kiddies aren't exactly known to pay for their stuff, plus you'd have ethical issues selling a tool for nefarious purposes. There is also no reason someone else couldn't make a similar tool and release the source code. That's actually what happened with the iBrute password cracker for iCloud.

This is also the same type of thing the NSA does to get into a lot of your stuff. They also get some backdoor supplied by the companies too. I think the intentional backdoors are even worse. They will get utilized (which is what I think you were getting at in your post). I do worry that some of these unintentional holes are left in place for the NSA. It gives Apple some plausible deniability. There was heavy suspicion of this recently with the "double goto fail" bug that cause all Apple products to never validate the certificate on an SSL connection.

So it's no secret that a lot of Toronto media outlets like to catch Rob Ford doing something questionable and making "news" out of it.

Ever since reporting that Ford was gonna meet with Mike Tyson they have been going out of their way to state that Tyson is in fact a convicted rapist... excessively so.

Anyhow local news tool Nathan Downer did not disappoint during a live interview.

Don't mention that shit to Tyson. Plus, I think he was wrongly convicted of that rape charge based on what he had been telling as I think he is telling the truth.

It's no secret that a lot of other outlets report everything he does as heroic and/or entertaining, even the homophobic or racist remarks and clear conflict-of-interest violations of the public trust. We need to stop the fixation on him and move on.

I'd say Tyson assaults women, and was indeed convicted of rape (http://www.cbc.ca/sports/mike-tyson-rap-sheet-1.308253), but not to the point of being excessive about it. Maybe remind him of that every day for the rest of his life, but, y'know, not on TV or anything.

In his situation with the doorman as he tells it i could see something like that being irritating, afterward with the twitter stuff i mean we're all human.. we all do knee-jerk shit without thinking it through. We've all stressed out over things we shouldn't.

I've never been to Seattle or that cafe/bar, don't know any of these people so i can't speak to the credibility of the manager or anyone that works there. Likewise Tom's a celebrity and can say and act any way he wants to, i don't know the guy.

That's what I think too. I'm not convinced it's due to cosmetic surgery (and if it is, it's her right to have everything she feels she needs to have done done); I think it's the combination of aging and losing the baby fat she has been carrying all her adult life.

I think Jennifer Grey. It's her eyes that have been changed so she doesn't look like the Renee we all recognize. Unfortunately, at the moment, I don't think this will help her career. I read somewhere that she had been passed over for a lot of roles. Probably thought she had to do something. I feel bad for the press she's getting for it since it doesn't seem that positive which can't possibly help to get more roles. It's tough to get old, but you just have to reinvent yourself and not try to continue to be the ingenue.

What Jian wrote seemed pretty solid and i can totally believe something like that can happen the way he says it did, i mean i don't speak from experience but i know people who have gone through that type of calculated attack maybe not exactly but similar tactics, it kind of hits close to home but of course i can also believe the flipside to that and Jian could very well be the calculated one.

This is a tough one... It's easy to believe for me because i can relate to it by way of extension but hell what does anyone know that doesn't know him or those that made the allegations personally.

I just hate anyone who'll flip the script to appear as a victim that's my "knee-jerk" reaction anyways.

You want a reasoned response based on evidence? Okay: this stinks to high heaven (http://sexgeek.wordpress.com/2014/10/27/poor-persecuted-pervert/) and Ghomeshi is spinning it to his advantage with a high-priced PR factory.

thelastdisciple
10-27-2014, 10:48 AM
Evidence? I wouldn't really say that based on that write up, points out some discrepancies to think about... sure and PR? that could be the case or to me he's presented himself to be a rather well spoken dude... couldn't he have just typed all of that up in Word and copied it over? It's much easier than typing in that text area on Facebook that's for sure.

Also when someone says they know who X person is on some blog, it's kind of hard to believe without seeing pictures of them together at least.

To be honest any write up at this point won't convince me of much without something more substantial but whatever i read on Jian's page like i said whether it's true or not it's definitely something i can relate to in a way.. it certainly makes me want to think better of the situation.

If he is the way the women claim him to be then there's bound to be more who speak up, if they all start coming out of the woodwork there might be something there.

Someone who is this way is only going to leave a trail and it isn't going to be just four people...

Would he ever show his true colors to any celebrities he's interviewed or worked with? doubtful but some have started to post their thoughts on the matter for whatever it's worth here's a bit from LIGHTS - https://www.facebook.com/lights/posts/10152780986716328

I'll say there could be something with that Carla article though, that more than anything definitely has me thinking.

Yep. With the 50 Shades craze going on, there's been a steady increase of these kinds of implications too. There was a story out of Michigan about a man who had his wife killed that was part of his local kinky community and they focused more on that than anything else. It's bad enough that you're in a flyover state and part of such a quirky minority to begin with, to have the eye of the media on you like that kind of pisses me off.

It makes me 5,000 shades of pissed off.

Again, I have no idea if the guy in question is guilty or not. But this type of characterization of all men as self-pitying creeps clearly has nothing to do with the merits of the individual case. I'm about to say a few things I can't believe have to be explained in a rational world. I observed that Cari Champion was a gorgeous lady. I then thought it would be funny to tweet JOKES about that observation. A decision which might be the end of modern comedy. I would rather load trucks for a living then ever apologize to one of these awful PC groups ruining the country. So that's a NO. But if it upset the lady in question that's another story. Let me say to Cari Champion if this hurt u in any way I'm sorry. I'm a comedian. Sometimes I'm funny! For the record my moms disgusted w the tweets. But if I based my humor on my mom I'd be broke. They're now telling me I can't appear on @Midnight tonight cause of the pressure they're getting from these groups. But who cares. I love the show & it's my living but who cares. These groups have won again. All I care about is Cari Champion. Truly. But I'm sure you'll be ok. You're gorgeous & talented. I hope that didn't offend u. To the PC army. Congrats! U won again! Gluten free cake! I've been asked not to appear on @midnight & uve ruined any chance I had at dating Cari Champion (That was a joke).

I'm not racist. I don't hate women. And to u PC groups that did this I wanna be clear. Go FUCK yourselves! Now get back to saving the world. Done. Peace.

Making jokes like that on Twitter just doesn't work. When have they ever? Making jokes like that on a small stage in front of drunken crowd - yeah, I can see him doing them there, that's his schtick. Most people sorting through their Twitter feed are sober and don't find 'I want to fuck her' tweets funny.

And just to be clear, I'm not exactly happy someone got hit, it's just that since Dimebag Darrell, people jumping on stage can be very scary, so I can't blame Afroman for doing what he did, especially since she actually made physical contact with him. I'm sure he feels bad about it.

Could people just stop with this stupid Dimebag argument already? She danced in front of him, then she went behind him, he knew exactly what the girl is doing and he definitely didn't knocked her out because he was scared for his life. I swear, people who are apologizing for this piece of shit are no better than the man himself

Her dumb ass shouldn't have been onstage, rubbing her body all over him without any form of consistent. You do know that could be considered battery, right?

and are you implying because she's a female, she's not capable of causing any harm? You do realize that weapons exist right, and so do crazy people? Fact is, she shouldn't have been on the damn stage.

Did you see the video? She was dancing in front of him first, he obviously saw her and yes, of course he knew what she was doing, you act like if playing some lazy ass solo on guitar take your senses to some other world of whatever. He's got nothing to apologize for? 250 pound gorilla punch women half of his size senseless to the ground and he's got nothing to apologize for? Are you fucking serious?

Mhmm, battery, you must be a lawyer or something. Please show me one example in history where dancing around somebody was classified as battery and punching somebody in the face it is not? I really hope she sue his ass and this fucktard's career is over.

If he doesn't want fans on the stage, he should clear this up with security before the gig starts, different performers have different policies towards this issue, some bands don't mind fans doing shit on stage, some do, it's his fault he couldn't open his fucking mouth and say something like "guys, take her outta here" or something along the lines, if he didn't do that before.

For the record, the definition of any crime varies by state.

In Illinois: "Battery – 720 ILCS 5/12-3 (effective 2011) A simple battery occurs if you either knowingly cause bodily harm to another or you make contact with another person of an insulting or provoking nature."

Being a victim of battery does not necessarily entitle you to then commit the crime of assault.

Just saying.

I'm not entirely 100% sure on that, but when my dad committed battery against me, a female officer told me I could have defended myself from him. Every time I try to find information about Battery, all I find is definitions and differences between assault.

You're aware that it's all relative to the assailant, and the circumstances of the assault, right ? You can't just hulk-smash anyone. If a drunk teen girl comes to you and starts grinding on you, good luck defending yourself if you punch her lights out on the grounds of sexual harassment.

I'm more not okay with man beating woman because of obvious physical differences, men are usually more stronger than women, in this case it was a fight between man who is twice the size of a women he beat up. I was just raised this way, that it is not okay to beat women. Shame on me right?

The circumstances of the assault is that there was no damn security doing their job, and she went behind him. Does he have eyes in the back of his head? Could he have known ENTIRELY what she was doing to him? It's like you people think Women are incapable of committing violent crimes.

It's like there is no gradual measure between serenity and total war. Every time someone does something behind my back I make sure to knock them out, just in case. I could shove them off, call someone more qualified for help, or move away, but no, everyone's a potential threat and I treat everyone accordingly.
Refresh me on the statistics of lethal attacks on performers during concerts compared to the amount of people just having fun, being simply drunk and goofing off ? They must be off the roof if the only response is to beat everyone up...

Security shouldn't have to be called, they should be there to do it anyway. Security wasn't doing their job, Afroman acted. I never said he acted with appropriate force, I was stating I don't blame him for acting in general.

That's the thing though : you can't gloss over the details of what was done just because something had to be done. Just because some kind of response is necessary or warranted doesn't mean any kind of response is acceptable.
She was disruptive and annoying (and he could see that it was all she was, an annoyance), that doesn't mean she had to be knocked down.

I'm not entirely 100% sure on that, but when my dad committed battery against me, a female officer told me I could have defended myself from him. Every time I try to find information about Battery, all I find is definitions and differences between assault.
"Defending yourself" does not necessarily mean assault. It could mean a similar battery as the one used against you. It depends on the laws of each state (e.g. "stand your ground" laws in certain states allowing you to shoot somebody and use deadly force if they assault you, which isn't the law in all states). And police officers aren't necessarily experts in advising you to commit crimes, just an FYI.

See this, the doctrine of self-defense (http://criminal.findlaw.com/criminal-charges/assault-and-battery-defenses.html):

The defenses available in assault and battery cases can vary widely depending on the facts and circumstances, mainly because such cases can range from the straight-forward to the extremely complex. However, operating under the assumption that the basic elements of an assault / battery exist in a case (i.e. it is not a case of mistaken identity or some other fundamental error), the following are some possible defenses to assault and battery charges along with a few helpful examples.

Self-defense

Self-defense is probably the most common defense used in assault and battery cases. In order to establish self-defense, an accused must generally show:

* a threat of unlawful force or harm against them;
* a real, honest perceived fear of harm to themselves (there must be a reasonable basis for this perceived fear);
* no harm or provocation on their part; and
* there was no reasonable chance of retreating or escaping the situation.

Example A: Adam is confronted by Bill, a large, imposing stranger, who immediately begins shouting threats at him and lunging at him with fists raised in a highly threatening manner. Adam is terrified, strikes Bill, and gets away through the nearest exit at his first available opportunity. Adam may be able to successfully argue that he acted only in self-defense under such circumstances.

Example B: Adam runs into Bill and gets into an argument. Bill insults and belittles Adam, at which point Adam insults Bill and threatens to beat him up. Bill then strikes Adam, and Adam retaliates in kind. It would be more difficult for Adam to establish self-defense under these circumstances than those in Example A, because Adam took part in escalating and provoking the fight by threatening Bill.

The doctrine of self-defense has a number of limitations in addition to those outlined above. Simply because someone acts in self-defense does not mean that all bets are off as far as the amount of force that can be used to defend one's self. The force used in self-defense must be reasonable when compared to the threat posed by the victim. Also, even if all the elements outlined above are met, an individual defending themself may still be found guilty of assault/battery if the victim was physically no match for them in the first place (this could be due to size, age, etc.).
