Right guys, my Dropbox link has been suspended for traffic.
Maybe MEGA service will be better for this? But I have no idea what is their policy regarding the traffic...

That's it. I'm convinced billpulsipher is Courtney Love. It's so blatantly obvious. The obsession with the old Trent. The hatred of Lisa and Charlotte and Mariqueen (how dare other women get between her and Trent!). The fact that she's getting the 1994 Hole lineup back together just to throw it in Trent's face. It all makes sense now!
Oh, man. Can we vote this as Post of the Year?
(Actually, my first thought when I heard about the Hole reunion was … Courtney Love is not enough. :p)

So, with all the talk about the Apple TV PBS app I wondered what they might have for the iPad. Just finished watching the show there, and much much better than what you can get from the web site. No sync problems, no dropouts, and presumably it’s 720p (hard for me to tell because I don’t have a Retina model). Maybe the same file millhouse found?
Ilan Rubin
drums, piano, sequencing, ukelele, vocals
Wait, what? There was a ukulele?

SD with a uke would be cool indeed.
Even before I saw that in the credits, I was thinking that ACL did a great job of showing that NIN is not an easy gig. It’s not enough just to be really good at your instrument (though Pino, Sharlotte and Lisa certainly are no slouches) — you end up playing six different instruments in the same song.
Well, that might be a slight exaggeration. Maybe. :p

Every other show I've been to, the drummer drums. Maybe some backing vocals. That's it. The other musicians usually don't do much beyond their specific instrument but the drummer never does. NIN? I've seen the drummer play both drums and keyboards.... IN THE SAME SONG.

So by that theory, metal bands should stop playing aggressive music once they get to the age of 40 because its uncool for dudes in their 40s to show anger onstage?
YES. Why does that not make sense to you? YES. THEY SHOULD STOP. There's a reason they get shifted into some weird subculture after a certain age. Is there anyone who acts the same way in their 40s as they did in their 20s and manages to look cool? Forget music, even in life? OF COURSE NOT. Stop. Do something different. Get a fucking grip on reality.
Thank fucking Atheismo that Trent gets that.

I agree on that, but I don't think it has to do with being or looking "cool." It's about growing up. If you're 45 and you're the same person you were at the age of 20, then there's something wrong there. It's not about the type of music, but about the attitude.
Trent got out of that hole where he was, he's a happy man with a wife and kids, he's not the thin pale young guy full of angst and insecurities who hated the world and all that stuff. I think throughout his career, his music is a pretty accurate representation of where he was in life at the time.

I have no issue with angry 40 year olds... I do have an issue with angsty 40 year olds who pretend to be that way because it's what their 'fans' want or feel that anger is the only way to become relevant. Musician's want and need to evolve to keep things relevant, fresh and fun for themselves. I find most artists that try to sound as angry as they did 20 years ago, without changing it up along the way, end up coming off as a caricature of themselves.
In the context of NIN, Year Zero was 'angsty' towards a more mature subject matter, and it worked because it was genuine (music quality aside).
(I tried thinking of some examples of an artist who remained as angry for 20 years without suffering a lack of quality.... and I struggled.)
Back on topic... I'm waiting for the HD version to air up North. The clips I have seen have led me to gain hope that we may yet see a theatre tour that focuses a little more on the down tempo songs.

Agreed, poor choice of words on my part. Just that there's rarely anything as significantly UNcool as those who can't let go of their past.

part of that is TR's fault. Playing sets that are YZ heavy or having gospel singers onstage isn't really conducive to an aggressive show. If he had backup singers onstage in 1994 they would have had to wear helmets to avoid getting hit in the head from mic stands and keyboards being thrown around
The violence may not be directed at his bandmates anymore, but I wouldn’t want to be his microphone. Some of those closeups were terrifying.
This is not Rod Stewart phoning in the Great American Songbook XXVII.

I checked PBS online. It's not there. Also, there are glitches in places other than CBH; CBH was just the most egregious. There's pixelation at 1:15 (girl in in a tank top on a bike) and 15:15 (Copy of A). I know that I'm being anal retentive about this... I just want the best quality that I can get.
So, I finally looked at this, and it's really disappointing. There are macroblocking artifacts everywhere. It's especially noticeable during fast movement scenes or strobe lights, which is why it's so apparent in CBH. You can even see it when Ilan's arm is moving too fast. Basically, the video stream is starved for bits and/or not encoded efficiently enough. This is probably an issue in the delivery of the content to the local station by PBS (I'm assuming this was over satellite). It's not in the master source, per se, but rather in what was encoded and delivered for broadcast. That's my theory anyway. My affiliate's broadcast is on Saturday, so we'll see if that's any better. Otherwise, the web rip might end up being the best source, because this macroblocking on the broadcast is out of control.

I put together an mkv file that incorporates the 2 web exclusive tracks and the longer interview clip. It's chaptered as well. This did involve a re-encode, but the quality looks nearly identical, to me, as the 720p web rip.

I am obsessed with this ACL version of While I'm Still Here / Black Noise, Sharlotte Gibson from 45.45 on sent shivers down my spine - love this, even if those ladies had made the rest of the show shit, it would still be worth it for Black Noise. I love those extra piano notes added too - I prefer this version to the Tension one

nobody cares but I recreated subtitles for the web stream version
http://ninfrance.free.fr/soustitre/gindex.html
That means i captured subtitles from the TV, I resynched them to the webstream after cleaning awful ads, filled missing sentences, and I even uncensored them, restoring the fuck, the shit and the piss where it belongs. (funny story, they censored the piss in audio but not in subtitles) Also I made a version without lyrics.

This has probably been mentioned a few times before in here (It's closing in on two A.M. and I don't feel like sifting through all nineteen other pages), but I would love to see the full, unedited show. Even if it's not pro shot, at least a decent recording would be amazing. I haven't downloaded the audio from Reflecting In The Chrome yet, but I'll probably do it eventually and I'd love to see the whole show somehow.
As much as I love it when they open up the show completely balls to the wall (Pinion into Terrible Lie/Love Is Not Enough, Hyperpower into Beginning of the End, Eater of Dreams into Copy Of A, 999,999 into 1,999,999, etc...), it's mind blowing when they start off with something a little more low-key and build from there.

Besides Mr. Fang's audio source, there is no other recording available for this show. I would assume that any sort of pictures/video during the show would've been shut down pretty quick and knowing the show would be broadcasted at a later date, why film it?

That was the exact same thought I had. I was sure there was absolutely no other way to see it outside of the broadcast, but it would still be great to see the full show with all the songs and not edited for language. It p****s me the f**k off when those network b******s edit the s**t out of my favorite concerts for g*****n, lame a*s, c**k sucking television.

Balcony for me too...though I did spend a lot of time looking for myself when the balcony is visible. The tickets I won were wedged way up in the corner but the whole middle section was empty. Knowing how nonchalant the ACL crowd can be I waited in the hallway until the last minute then picked out a nice 3-4th row center seat. Still amazed how many seats were empty and how many were left outside in standby, really terrible job on ACL's part. Did anyone get an HD rip of the more recent broadcasts?

It's about 6 years on almost and I have been sitting on the footage from the broadcast for quite some time. I have a few sources from this show including the original broadcast and rebroadcast. For archiving, I am just stressed as to which one I should go with? I know not the 720P for the original broadcast below. But there was one I received from DIME and then Levi (I believe they are on here, I am sorry I forgot where I got it). From what I remember is that the artifacts during The Wretched were on the original broadcast too. The bonus tracks on pbs were only streamed at 720. So that is best we can do.
This is why I hate stuff to sit on my hard drive for too long. I forget this information. I wish I had a lot of time on my hands to check over each capture, but Sunday mornings are all I am giving time to uploading things to the archive for the time being. If anyone can help, that would be wonderful. Hoping to get it up on the archive shortly after this small hiccup is solved.

I wish I had a lot of time on my hands to check over each capture, but Sunday mornings are all I am giving time to uploading things to the archive for the time being. If anyone can help, that would be wonderful. Hoping to get it up on the archive shortly after this small hiccup is solved.

I am not looking for that. More just seeing which capture is definitive to archive.

So that is best we can do.

cm = cynicmuse on here. Both that and dime are from SoCal PBS broadcasts, and had a lot of artifacting, especially during heavy strobes (watch the last 2 minutes of Came Back Haunted).
I have a later rebroadcast from Hawaii PBS that has much fewer compression artifacts, but it's not ready for distribution yet.

I’ll just keep these up until then. :)
