I only listened to Strictly Diesel and The Height of Callousness, and then seemed to forget about them. The two things that did remind me of them was whenever I looked up a Mario vs. Sonic - The War (http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/27922), I saw from Newgrounds (http://www.newgrounds.com), which is how I've actually heard of Spineshank in the first place. (It was also remade into Mario vs. Sonic S.E. (http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/188478)) The other thing was the fact that we have an ETS member that has the same exact name with their third album.

I actually thought that they quit after their third album, but their latest album came out last year. It's called Anger Denial Acceptance. And from what I recall, even after not listening to Spineshank for a while, they covered The Beatles's While My Guitar Gently Weeps.

YES! I always loved that cover and the take they had on it. It's dark, moody, and raw and the bass line I really enjoy. The first three albums have always been my favorite, and they were even nominated for a grammy on SDP which is their most accessible album as far as sound in my opinion. They are a bit different now in terms of sound because I always loved the industrial side they had to them, but the new stuff sounds more like Silent Civilian to me.

One of my favorite tracks from them:

Kris, I gotta hand it to you: you've got worse taste than me ;)

Didn't like the first album, thought it overly cliched, Fear Factory-sponsored generic nu-metal.
The second album is where they really hit it out the park. Some great songs on there, New Disease in particular.
Third album they lost it: too "metal" and not enough pop.
Silent Civillian was embarassing, a cynical attempt to jump on the neo-thrash trend.
I heard one song from the new album and it didn't really interest me at all.

All in all, they had their 15 mins, and that's that.

Yeah, after making the Kid Rock thread, the Insane Clown Posse thread, and "reviving" Vanilla Ice as a topic, I pretty much "came out with my hands up". I still give you props for inadvertently helping me get those threads out of my system though. It gave me one of those "glad to be not so alone" feelings. :p

That also sounds about right too. The Height of Callousness really was their greatest hit. Looking back on Strictly Diesel now, it kind of gives me a Deftones and Orgy vibe, aside from the evident influences from Fear Factory, but I can, and am only speaking for myself. It turns out that I've missed listening to the first two albums.

I happen to really like SDP. I dunno.. it's catchy, heavy, but you can see them slowly going away from the industrial sound they did so well on Height. "Dead to Me" is a pretty bad ass song, and the b-sides from Height and SDP are probably some of their best songs.
