View Full Version : Year Zero part 2?

I've been listening to all my nin albums after hesitation marks reminding me why NIN has been my all time favorite band. I've been going backwards in the discography and I've been pulling up reviews of each album while doing so to get the vibe of what people were thinking at the time.

We all know that the year zero movie/mini series is stuck in production hell.

But a lot of interviews from the YZ album eta have Reznor saying more than once that YZ was going to have a second album to follow the story and represent the aftermath of that universe.

Did this "year zero" part two get scrapped or did it turn into the slip? TS is obviously not a continuation of the YZ story.

Any official word on part 2 of YZ?

This didn't turn out to be the remix album did it?

I tried broaching the subject before but nobody really cared. :(

You are correct. I think Trent was just creatively over it.

Last I heard, HBO had passed on the TV series. Sounds like it's dead in the water unless Trent and Rob want to keep shopping it around. So until a TV series or film actually happens, I don't see a YZ part 2 album because I think after this much time has passed, it would need that kind of major impetus. And even if that happened, I would bet that the album would be more like a soundtrack rather than a proper NIN album.

Nah, it's done. If a YZ 2 were to have happened aside from the TV series, it would've happened years ago.

Personally, I hope the follow-up is YEAR ZERO! THE MUSICAL.

I really love how Trent is original on every album, I hope he does another album exactly like a previous one

I thought that album was welcome oblivion. Apparently WO represents the post YZ theme, IMO.

I can't remember exactly where it was stated, but Trent said recently that basically Year Zero was commentary about where our future was headed if we didn't wake up, and now with all the NSA issues etc, we've arrived there. Beyond that he feels there's no real point in continuing the story.

I think it'd be neat to have a short film based upon Year Zero, but as for an entire series or a full length feature, I don't think it'd work.

The best thing that ever happened to Year Zero was the failing of the tv show.

Come at me.
