Bischoff working in creative is a surprise. He was only on-screen talent when he worked for the company before. I haven't listened to much of his podcast, but I have heard he's pretty regretful for a lot of what happened with WCW, even when it was good. Maybe he's doing this as some sort of reclamation to the business many say he helped tank when he was head honcho. Heyman I'm less surprised about. Putting aside the whole WWECW debacle, when he was running Smackdown the product was immaculate. It's anybody's guess if that translates to what's going on now.

The second I saw thumbtacks at Fyter Fest, a little part of my love of wrestling that had been missing for so long was reawakened. My peak fandom were those Cactus Jack vs. Triple H matches.

Pre show was a little rough but main card of Fyter Fest delivered the goods. I am glad Cody is okay and loved his match with Darby Allin. I’ve enjoyed Allin in AAW and PWG. MJF is a star. Unsanctioned main event narrowly beat Cody/Allin as MOTN. Janela and Mox killed each other.

Almost every shoot interview available is on YouTube it seems, or at least the most interesting parts of them. It's kind of a shame that the main companies are not as producing as much as they used to but with podcasts becoming much more relevant it makes sense for these to be phased out in favor of the more current platform.

Every 6 months they do a mini storyline where -insert superstar here- just parrots what the fans are saying about the product. Then they're all "things are gonna change around here" "YOU are the authority" etc etc.

Kevin and Roman did it, hell they even wrote the bad ratings into a story and kayfabe blamed Corbin for it. I think expecting an actually GREAT product out of WWE is like going to mcdonalds and expecting to be blown away by a McDouble.

Given the man's history of drug or alcohol charges, there's definitely an underlying substance abuse issue. It only took me two DWI charges to realize my need to eliminate alcohol from my life before it ruined my, or worse, someone else's life. This dude showed up to wrestle Sting, on a PPV, so fucked up that he could barely stand. That should've been the wake up call that alcohol, whether he's on the road working or not, is the fucking problem.
I think the WWE, knowing his history, should encourage Hardy to get himself some help and then allow him to retire. I don't think he needs to do anything else in ring. Grand slam champ? Check. Legendary career? Check. At this point, the man's mental, emotional and physical health far outweigh any desire I have to see him do another swanton bomb.

Fight for the Fallen was very good. I didn’t waste any time on Evolve. It’s not ever been my thing and the fact that it was a disingenuous move by WWE to give the indies the rub (fuck with AEW) just sealed the deal.

There were some decent matches at Extreme Rules but if you had any doubt whatsoever that Senile Vince is still calling the shots, Master Blaster should’ve made it quite clear.

I'm a Finn Balor stan and love the Demon King, but with the news of his two months off post-Summerslam after, presumably, a match with Bray Wyatt, this would be the perfect time to accomplish a few things -

1. To make Wyatt finally realize the potential that WWE has squandered in the past, the Fiend needs to beat the Demon King at Summerslam. This would explain a two month absence and would also establish Wyatt as a credible threat to EVERYONE. He's had high profile matches with Cena, Undertaker and Randy Orton at Wrestlemanias past, and he's lost all three. A win against the undefeated (in WWE, not counting NXT) Demon King would reestablish him in a new way.

2. The loss against Wyatt not only explains his absence, but upon his return, Finn Balor turns heel. Whether that's with joining the Club, forming a new stable, or just going out there on his own and being the Prince Devitt of old, he needs this to happen because babyface Finn has gotten stale from a storytelling perspective. This could have an adverse effect and make him into a Becky Lynch-style babyface, but give him a villainous run for a bit and let him loose on the good guys.

Wyatt was always a victim to circumstance. Not going over on Taker or Cena hurt him. It's always the booking. Cool if you want him to job. They had no plan after though. They have him a two week reign only to give it to orton in THAT match. Just bad decisions all around for him. They killed him.

This was the best Brock match I've seen in quite a long time. For once I felt the stakes and Seth was excellent throughout. They've made great dueling partners.

The Fiend was incredible. All of the details even down to the realization that the new lantern is Bray's old head with the lantern jammed in its mouth. Fucking incredible and absolutely gruesome. I am 100% here for the Fiend.

I don’t get The Street Profits at all. Plus, there’s not been a clearer example of Shawn and Marty when it comes to Montez and Angelo. Angelo looks like a sluggish husk in the ring. I think Montez will be good after some experience.

I arrived just as Nyla won the Battle Royale so I can’t really judge it yet. I liked Private Party vs Evans/Angelico. Pac and Omega took a bit to get going but once it did it was good. People hated Pac going over. I loved the Cracker Barrel Clash so much. Darby Allin is quickly becoming one of my favorites. I only wish they had been given more time. Cody vs Spears ruled as well. I kept thinking MJF was going to turn. Felt bad for poor Pharaoh who got spooked my the pyro. I really thought Spears was going to win so this one surprised me. Best Friends and Dark Order was fun and I dig Orange Cassidy too. The Bucks vs Lucha Bros was batshit insane. As much as I don’t like Penta and his dumbass taunt he spams, that was a great match. Good to see the former LAX too! The main event was stiff. Those dudes beat the shit out of each other. I would’ve been okay with either becoming champ and I am totally okay with Jericho being the guy.

I don't doubt it was a blast live. A few minor gripes, production wise, that really got me. Internet wrestling viewers mostly know who these performers are ahead of time. Those who have subscribed to WWE-only won't know these folks are first, but that's the point of BTE and the "road to..." series of shows AEW has done on their social media. Having a weekly show on a major television network will start to expose more of these performers to casual eyes and thus interest will build. This problem isn't AEW-specific but indicative of the problem with the entire industry since WWE bought out WCW. TNA suffered from this as well since they decided to go after WWE leftovers for years and are just now re-establishing themselves with a model similar to AEW.

Without getting too deep, don't get me wrong, I don't want them to fail at all. How about the lapsed WWE fan? That was me from 2003 to 2012 but there are a lot more like me who just fell off around that same time and still haven't come back. A talking head on a wrestling podcast who needs airtime to fill for ad revenue can talk quite a bit about how AEW doesn't stand a chance. Citing WCW veterans as a potential reason for it's impending failure is a bit of a stretch however, especially since many of those same WCW people went on to work for WWE post-2001.

Again, I believe the Bucks, Cody and Tony when they say AEW isn't meant to be a direct competitor to WWE. TNT might see it differently, but so far, I've been enjoying AEW just like I still find plenty of things to enjoy in WWE. You don't have to pick one over the other.

In the Attitude Era we'd have about 12-15 people for PPVs/Raws in my buddy's parent's basement. Around 2002, it fell off to 3. Pretty much everyone else moved on to UFC when it got hot a few years later, or became parents and their kids lost interest fast when they tried to show them it.

I just think many have moved on due to there being so much different media to consume out there. And I still hear the "the current wrestlers are too small!" excuse, too. The people I livewatch the Network with online are pretty much only interested in the archives of it. Again, all anecdotal.

However, there is a part of me that says if Cody doesn't see them as competition, he shouldn't be smashing a throne with a sledgehammer... don't mention the other company, focus on yourself.

He’s my second favorite wrestler of all time and he was really cool to me when I met him in 2007 but yeah, there’s some problematic aspects (he’s a right winger) on the personal side.

I like Jericho and he was always a favorite but I feel his look and attitude regressed. When he got the haircut and reinvented himself and kept that charisma to him he was at the pinnacle of his post Y2J (1999-2005) career. Then we had awesome stuff like his light up clothing bullshit, the List and lots of cool stuff.

The moment he started regrowing his hair length (which looks like absolute garbage these days) and changed his ring gear he began to change for the worst to me. His stint in NJPW changed his outlook and personality I feel and his overall attitude (casual listener to his podcast) changed the moment AEW began to form last year.

I'm kinda whatever on him now.

Anthem Sports bought a majority stake in AXS television (https://www.multichannel.com/news/anthem-sports-buys-majority-stake-in-axs-tv), which now means IMPACT! will have a more solid television partner than even TNA had with Spike. I'm out of the loop on what they're doing but I guess this means they will be in business with New Japan (which obviously is a draw for AXS).

Actually IMPACT! have been doing very well the last few years. They have a good roster and their Knockouts division is great. Their women’s division has Tessa Blanchard, Rosemary, Su Yung, Taya, Tenille Dashwood, Keira Hogan, Jordynne Grace. Check out the rest of the roster I’m sure you’ll know a lot of names on there. Like Cage, Johnny Impact, RVD, Callihan, Swann.

Energy at these lives shows make matches that seem like complete crap actually fun and watchable. I enjoyed just about every match tonight. Becky and Sasha were MOTN and they went to the concessions area right where I was sitting at (my instagram post has a snippet in the last slot). I bet if I go back and rewatch the PPV I'll see myself. Rowan/Roman was surprisingly good and I seen the Fiend. Not to mention the Goddess.

I was at Sec 116, Row AA, Seat 8. The photos and video I took make it look like I was farther away than I was.

Either way, loved it. As I said earlier, these events are always so much better live in person than watching on TV.

Bret's "I'll be with the WWF forever" promo, the Austin/Pillman "gun" angle (though obviously not shown to the live audience), and Triple H winning his first title.

I was at two WCW shows, one Nitro and one live Nitro/Thunder taping.

Gonna go ahead and disagree strongly here. Everyone, including Seth, knows that the ONLY comparison between Austin and Rollins is the moniker of "top guy", but even that's a stretch because Austin is STONE COLD STEVE AUSTIN, for gods sake.

Wyatt/The Fiend even recognized this and PURPOSEFULLY AVOIDED Austin when he was on Raw that night. Wyatt even alluded to the Rattlesnake in the "stranger danger" Firefly Funhouse Segment. Wyatt KNOWS Rollins is not at Austin's level, and that Austin is STONE COLD STEVE AUSTIN, and chose his spot wisely. Yes, Rollins is being booked to look like a chump at the moment, but let's give this story a chance. 100% with you on wanting them to prove me wrong. I just think with the Fox move, and the heat from the Nacho Libre/Schefter stuff last week they're going to have to do this reboot, draft, and everything else, right which gives me the faintest glimmer of hope.
