Shone

One of my favorite albums to come out this year is Heat Thing, by a band called Shone. The band is made up of members of the Long Island alt-rock community, including the singer of Robbers, drummer and guitarist of Brand New and a few others. The album was pretty poorly received, but I think a lot of that has to do with the fact that it's a complete departure from the music that these guys garnered a following with. I think it might do better here, with the NIN community. Shone does a great job of smashing together orchestral pieces, rock, and electronica.
