HEY!

EVERYTHING IS. NOT. O-KAY!!!

Seriously, though, how awesome is "All Time Low"?

Discuss it and caress it.

Love this song. Massive Bowie "Fame" kick off the verse riff - both songs reference the same kind of subject, which is pretty cool. So groovy. Will be squeeing at length about this on the podcast tomorrow :)

Love the frantic sense of unraveling during the verses, the allure of the chorus, and the sense of bodily displacement towards the end. It's dark but groovy, perfectly representing the anxiety of addiction and the uncertain release of coming back. I don't speak from experience, though.

I wish this song was a real person so I could tell hir how much I love hir. This song has far too much going on in it, and it keeps roping me in. It has taken over everything else on the album.

I keep listening to this one over and over. I love it so much. It was meant to be a nin song.

Perfect parallel to Closer (in style and placement), and it's not even obnoxious like that concept would suggest. Moreover, it's a little less obvious in its construction than what he usually writes, which is a good thing. I wish he'd get a little loose sometimes but he sticks to the same structure mostly.

Sexiest thing since Closer.

That Finaly Fantasy reference... I never played the games but I'm familiar with them somehow so can anyone point to a youtube video maybe that has the melody in question?

The song of course kicks serious amounts of ass! The vocal delivery is incredibly and I just love that sleazy guitar. Again very fragile-y (even deeper, mark has been made) and so so good!

I'm absolutely crazy about this song, love it when Trent gets his groove on (a bit like Into The Void, my favourite NIN song).

The bass towards the end of the song is flipping delicious! And I agree; the sexiest thing since Closer, except this is much more seductive.

My favourite on HM by far!

I like it a lot too. Whole track gives me an 'Into the Void' kind of vibe as well.

When the beats kicks in during the chorus I can't stop bobbing my head along with it. This MUST be played during the fall arena tour!

"Your voice in fucking echo stereo" love that line. When I heard that I'm like, oh yeah here we go!!!

It's not that bad, we just have to accept... oh, wait, this is about All Time Low. Hell yeah, it's awesome. It sounds like Trent is 10 miles high and just rocking out up there in fucking echo stereo. One of my favorite tracks of the new album for sure, and it surely would be interesting to hear live.

"Hir"? Is that a gender-neutral (him+her) pronoun?

i believe so! i've seen it used in discussions of trans* folks from time to time. i like it. in my head, i pronounce it "hyr"

I'm getting The Big Come Down from this song and of course meaning the song from The Fragile. Lots of similar elements, hoping to hearing this one in live sets.

oooh i figured the two hir-s couldn't be a misspelling considering it occurred twice but couldn't figure out why. will definitely make use of that one.

also, HEY EVERYTHING IS NOT OKAY pops into my head at least 5 times a day. its awesome.

The first thing that "obviously" came to my mind after "Hey" was "CAN'T STOP!""

But thanks to All Time Low and this thread, I am finally free!!

One of my 3 least favorite tracks, overall, as in not enjoying it really (save for some parts/sections, for sure)...but it is the better one of my bottom 3.

I feel I should like it more than I do, but something or somethings are keeping me from getting there.

It's a really good song, but for some reason...I can't help but hear a drunk girl getting raped when I hear it. Does anyone know what I mean or should I seek professional help?

Yes. It is used in other forums so much that it is part of my vocabulary now.

ROTFL. This is the meme of the NIN-year!

I think this track is just OK. The lyrics are awful, especially in the verses. The music makes up for it but not enough to make it a stand out track. Probably one of my least favorite on HM.

THAT SHIT is the same melody on FF2 for the super nintendo, when it does that little poem...

One to be born
of a dragon
etc.

Im a nintendo nut so i lost touch when ff went the sony way, but i guess they recycled the melody.

Ok so...is it REALLY the same arpeggio? Exactly? cause that was my immediate reaction...

I LOVE this song. So fresh and different for a NIN song, and I don't normally say this about anything, but it really does have a "sexy" vibe to it. Just love it.

Also, call me weird, but I just can't help but be reminded a bit of Midnight Vultures by Beck during the choruses of this song. It's the falsetto singing, the vocal melody, and the lyrics that all get me there. Of course, that just makes me love it more. :p Any other Beck fans in here feel that way, or am I crazy?

That noise actually reminds me of a noise in Satellite. Gotta listen to all this again...and again...etc. :D Nice to know I'm not the only one!

(Seeing that GIF of Jim Carrey in that Ace Ventura scene dancing to Get Real Paid was pretty awesome.)

I cannot stop listening to this song.

This morning, I was driving around in the country. I then put on the remix for the first time. At one point, I actually yelled out "yeah!" when shit started to get crazy. God. I can stop smiling.

This song is unbelievably sexy and awesome, and I just can't stop listening to it. I think it's my absolute favorite from this album, even though almost all of them are amazing too. It's just so funky, I can't get over it. Sexiest song since Closer.

Sleazy Trent is sleazy. How did we get so high followed by that awesome dreamy Nintendo noodling is beyond words. The underlying soundbed is awesome aswell with that scretching sound and pumping beat.

Not the world's biggest fan of the lyrics, but damnit I love the music (and the cadence of the vocals) on this track. This needs to be in the live set this fall.

All Time Low was probably my favorite track when I first listened to this record. I love the funky verse, the chorus and the coda is a glittering lucid dream. In other words, I like every part of this song, but the too-slow plodding disco of the chorus after the wild funk of the verses ejects me from the song everytime. It's regrettably clunky.

I still like this track, but it's not even close to my favorite anymore. The jarring transitions stick out like a sore thumb.

I always, always expect the next line to be I'M GONNA GET SO HIGH and for the huge riff from 10 Miles High to explode right after that.

I do love the ending for the song but feel slightly disappointed that this didn't happen.

This picture is burned in my memory, especially at that part of All Time Low. And well, thank goodness I'm into South Park the way I'm into NIN. South Park is like my NIN as far as animated sitcoms go. :D
