That was one of the reasons I was skeptic at first. The thing is, I don't consider any specific fan more worthy of the stuff which has been released for public attention from someone, being the original release itself the right choice on his part or not. Keeping it "private" via PMs made the thing a bit better but once it's gone public once (on /mu/ and on reddit), it's gone public forever. Except for the fact that 4chan deletes thread after a bit, but you got the point I guess...

No offense to the fine people working over at the NIN camp, but this is the third time I've heard about major shit like this leaking. Remember the 2005 rehearsals? I'm guessing those went public because the original leaker was no longer with the band, or there was no longer a risk of getting fired. But I'm pretty sure that shit was originally shared in 2005.

Everyone has great things to say about these recordings, and it will probably give him a bit more exposure (not a lot, but I wouldn't be surprised). Also, what is the other leak? The Reading show? Every concert is recorded, especially in 2013. I won't speak for him, but it would make sense to me if Trent hates playing festivals anyway. The proper Tension shows will probably reinvigorate him.

This all sounds really assy and presumptive of me, but it's just my two cents.

Oh. Well, it seems like people generally feel "sorry" for sharing this because it's not Trent-approved, not just because it got some guy fired. As you said, the guy probably deserved to be fired. It's probably in his contract, or just implicit, that he's not supposed to be uploading this stuff wherever he wants because he feels like it. Just because he's recording it doesn't mean he owns it.

It was spread around 4chan for the last 3 weeks. Anyone who didn't have it still knew about it. Reddit was sharing this leak via PM a few hours before ETS was. We had very little to do with the proliferation.

Alright, the only reason I was going to post it to RITC was because I had seen that people were posting YouTube clips of songs... That is the worst thing about YouTube. Making a 320 mp3 (that is already compressed) into a shitty YouTube video to worsen the quality. I am all about preserving quality, so I thought it was best to release the 320, tracked mp3 version. Yeah, I tracked both of those long mp3s into one nice, seamless performance. For those that downloaded the untracked version and listened to the banter, did you really miss anything? For those that e-mailed me saying that I was "lame" to cut out the banter, GFY. Personally, these are rehearsal tapes. The With Teeth rehearsal tapes also had no banter in them and these are private sessions, not meant to be heard by us (the fans). I respect what they are saying during the rehearsals and understand it's not for me to hear. That is why I removed them from the version on RITC. You can probably think of a million reasons why my thinking is not what you would think it would be because I run a site that has live recordings for download. But I understand where to draw the line when it comes to certain context that needs to be heard. Mostly, just the tunes.

That's enough from me. Not trying to step on anyone's toes. Just giving you the reason behind wanting to share them initially on the site in the first place. I hate crappy quality releases. Also, once it started circulating pretty rapidly, there went trying to use it to get any sort of older, uncirculated soundboard recordings that I know a few people have.

But to close, yes, I am enjoying the hell out of this rehearsal audio. For being a June rehearsal date, and sounding so good by then tells you how good this band really is.

I'm honestly not sure. All I know is its a bunch of "drum and sfx samples used on Broken and The Downward Spiral" that the guy had right next to the rehearsals. It's really interesting hearing all the hard work that goes into a live NIN show. When you see the show, it looks like cake. But they've been doing that day in and day out for months. Personally, I find interest in incomplete or off sounding rehearsal tracks. Guess I've heard those live versions a million times, it's nice to hear a different variation of a song, whether it be a fuckup or not, this stuff is great.
