As I wrote in the 2013 tour thread, I face it as more than just a rumor: though most music websites are taking it as unconfirmed news yet, here in Brazil we got this very informed journalist, Jose Norberto Flesch ( a trusty insider in music tours and festivals, only disclosing news about upcoming concerts when everything is sure - he's the one who published the above news page ), who confirmed it as 100% spot on.

Here in Brazil, specifically, all fans should be crossing fingers. Although this time the bands are attached to a huge multi-country festival, which is on the verge of confirmation, it's important to notice that both NIN and DM cancelled their last passages here: DM in 2009, due to Dave Gahan's surgery, and NIN in 2008, due to technical difficulties ( aka low tickets sellings ).
One thing is sure: as Lolla happens over two days in both countries, the festival will definitely put DM and NIN in different days.

Lollapalooza Chile is set to March 29 and 30th, at Parque O'Higgins in Santiago.

Lollapalooza Brazil is in and early stage of confirmation, but it all points out to be set at April 05 and 06th, at Campo de Marte in Sao Paulo.

I think it's funny that all the news sources are mentioning Depeche Mode's cancelling of their concert in 2009, but no one talks about NIN cancelling in 2008.

Whatever, bring it on. I'm only cautiously excited for this because I don't want to get into the depressive state I did the last time.

I noticed that. Maybe cause Depeche Mode is way, way more famous here in Brazil than NIN, so news writers tend to focus on Gahan's band.

It would be great, still i hope he doesn't do festivals, "Corona Capital" is in October and obviously impossible and "Vive Latino" is in March i think, but it sucks, i want to see a "solo" date just like in 2005...

This is the thread I was looking for. I just found out about these news. I'm from Colombia and if you guys remember we got our date canceled a few years ago, really heartbreaking considering how important is NIN for some of us.

So, here's me hoping for a full Latin American tour, or maybe I'll just pay a visit to our Chilean neighbours. Any way, let's use this thread for rumors and general wishful thinking/fapping.

Hey Guys a beloved fan from Venezuela here, I`m a new user here, but I have been listening NIN since I was 11 years old so now I`m 34 so more of the half of my life being a beloved fan, lol, well I really hope NIN come to South America again, it will be nice see them one more time, and i think I can go to Chile if they will be on Lollapalooza Chile 2014 or if they decide to come back to Venezuela...

This a small bump to remind everyone that Lollapaaloza Chile is closing their presale tomorrow, so probably the full festival Lineup is upon us.

Everyone, cross fingers :).

UPDATE:
Chile is releasing their lineup on the 15th. Rumours point to Brazil getting theirs tomorrow.

There's a press conference happening right now here in Sao Paulo about the Lolla 2014, with Perry Farrell. For now, it is only confirmed that the festival will really happen next April 05 and 06th ( one less day than last year ) on a new site: the Autódromo de Interlagos ( Interlagos Racecourse ), situated at the city's surroundings and five times bigger than last year's. The new festival structure map is avaliable at https://www.facebook.com/LollapaloozaBR . No words on tickets and line-up - the full line-up will be revealed somewhere between Oct 23 and 30th.

In a side note, TMZ-like, tbc: it seems that a few bands comprising the line-up would be hinted at today, including NIN, Depeche Mode, Pixies and others... but there's trouble at Depeche Mode camp, with Dave Gahan increasing his demands to confirm the Latin American tour.

What demands? i thought DM was a sure thing in Latin America, they love it here! is there some kind of issue i'm not aware of?

Nothing more was disclosered. But the band is still confirmed at the festival. The organizers must be waiting to reveal the line up so they can settle this up.

My first guess: the Depeche guys, which notoriously travel around the world on tours with their families, must be worried about their security, due to the recent problems that we're having with constant street protests here in Brazil. A couple of small concerts were cancelled here recently due to that... I just can't remember exactly who was it right now.

Since NIN is touring till November 25th in North America (and i don't think they are doing dates on December) and the aussie tour with Queens of the Stone Age is on March, i think it's safe to say that we won't see NIN till April or May of 2014... (unless they do some quick dates on January or February of 2014)

It seems there will be some Lollapalooza Chile news later today: Perry Farrel is doing another press conference in there, along with a Jane's Addiction concert.

Add to the ever increasing line-up rumours: it seems that Muse, Soundgarden and Arcade Fire will join the festival bill.

Sadly, I think it will be a pretty similar annoucement to the one that they had in Brazil confirming that the lineup will be released later this month. There's one image of the full setlist that seems to be fake, too.

EDIT: Flesch claims that today Chile won't get their lineup (https://twitter.com/jnflesch/status/390147421369409536)

Pretty sad if true.

No official news yet. But most Brazilian music sources are confirming Depeche Mode, NIN, Muse, Soundgarden and Pixies only for Lolla Brazil and Chile, while the Argentina festival is still in its early stage.

The band's Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/ninofficial/posts/10152177361836221:0?stream_ref=1) just announced that there will be a NIN solo concert in Rio de Janeiro on April 06th, the following day after they're playing Lolla Brazil ( in São Paulo ). Tickets will be on sale later tomorrow here (http://www.ticketforfun.com.br). Pretty odd, as NIN do not have a significant following in here and demand for Lolla tickets are still low. Hope not, but smells like cancellation ( for the solo gig ).

Let's see how that unfolds...

Doesn't bands do some kind of survey before they tour anywhere? It must be a more professional process than "Well, I think these people like us, let's schedule a solo show! Hope someone other than the janitors will come!". A couple thousand people at minimum should be able/willing to attend at least imo, though I know nothing of the Rio de janeiro venue they'll be playing at.

Worst case scenario you and your friends will get a private show, haha. I never heard NIN cancelling a show due to the lack of interest, but I could be wrong.

Yes, it's called a promoter and a booking agent.

That said, the Facebook post has disappeared. The twitter post (https://twitter.com/nineinchnails/status/426523823844769792) is still there though, but links to a dead link. Make of that what you will.

Yeah, I would root for that if it also wouldn't mean zero chances for the band to come back around here on the future.

About the cancelling, lack of interest can also be translated as low tickets selling - which was the cause the band cancelled their concerts here in Brazil in 2008 ( though they alleged "technical difficulties" with the venues ).

Citing the Hives: hate to say I told you so.

NIN cancelled their Rio de Janeiro solo gig, due supposedly to "logistic complications". But reliable media sources say that the problem was very clear: low ticket sales.

In the past few weeks, info was that the gig would move to smaller venues, from the 5000-capacity Citibank Hall ( where the concert was originally set for ) to the 3500-capacity Vivo Rio or even the 2500-capacity Circo Voador - both venues with a pretty limited-to-small stage. In fact, when these two places were considered I realized that the concert would be a no-go.

Really, although I bought my tickets in the first day of sales, I was sadly expecting it. Unfortunately, NIN is not popular enough in Brazil for solo concerts ( maybe in São Paulo ), as the band always had very limited airplay here.

Still, the band's headline slot in Lollapallooza São Paulo, next April 5th, is 100% confirmed.

Sorry to hear that.

Don't be sorry. It's the natural course. Rio has ZERO interest in NIN. Like Volband wrote: the Rio concert would become a private show for andre78's friends + my friends (50 people?)

It would be nice if Trent could listen to our requests during the show. "Play Happiness in Slavery!!!!", "Now The Fragile!!!!", "Play I'm Afraid of Americans!!!!", "Play The Way Out is Through!", "Now Heart-Shaped Box!!!! Oops..."

The best setlist ever!

Same impression here. Besides NIN's lack of popularity in Brazil, Rio's not a rock and roll-friendly city. Sometimes I get the impression that a few concerts are booked in there just so the artist can get to know the city, as it is the country's postal card around the world.

Don't you think it would be safer to do this concert in Belo Horizonte or even as as Lollapalooza side-concert in São Paulo? Muse is also headlining Lolla and doing an one-off gig here in SP - it's not sold-out yet, but it's been selling very well.

I have two guesses for the cancellation:

1. Low ticket sales
2. Citibank Hall doesn't support a huge infrastructure like NIN's.

A good possibility is to move the concert from Citibank Hall to HSBC Arena. The stage area is bigger, the guys can build the stage with enough space to do everything, but the arena is also bigger. They would have to sell much more tickets to cover the costs at least. Now sum my two guesses and... voilá!
