From what I've read, that was a misinterpretation by the media and von Trier stated that there are 2 "versions" of the film Censored and uncensored. I mean, theres going to be copious amounts of unsimulated sex.

It's set to premiere in Denmark in late December so I think a U.S. release will definitely come in 2014.

Lars Von Trier is a maniac and thankfully he is, in a world of big budget Hollywood garbage, it's nice to have directors that focus on the art of story telling and movie making. Can't wait to see this!

OK...so I just watched the trailer for this movie. Having never seen any of his other movies but reading their synopsis', what's LVT's draw? It seems like he relies on the overuse of sex/violence for his films.

Well, it is the conclusion of his Depression trilogy as I think it's just him acting out whatever he is dealing with and such. Still, I wanna fucking see this!

This film is bringing good to the world. An ex gf with whom I used to watch Von Trier's films msg'd me a couple days ago wondering if I'd like to go watch Nymph with her. The Swedish premiere is set for Januari 31st - roadshow version.

I really think the full version should be presented in a special road-show screening. Play the first half w/ a 30-minute intermission and then play the 2nd half. Plus, I think they should charge extra in case people have the urge to.... well....

So I saw it sunday night. It's gonna take a couple of more days to fully digest it but I can say that Von Trier has managed to create something unique, pitch black, hilarious at times and fucking beautiful. I'm not saying it's a masterpiece, mainly because this was not the director's cut and I'm sure he'll jack it up even more on his version, but even as it is, It's a masterpiece. The kind of movie that few directors like Roy Andersson, Pasolini, Fellini and Ruben Östlund make to punch you in the face.

We got a 20 min break between part 1 & 2, a total of 4 and a half hours in the theater. I could've easily sat through another hour 1/2 of this film. Looking forward to watch Lars' 5 1/2 hour director's cut as soon as I get a chance.

Finally watched this, and I loved it: it's still haunting me a few days later, especially the ending, which I see as both a cheap shot and a way to preserve the tragic vision of the whole.
I really hated Antichrist and Melancholia, but maybe I needed to be in the right place (= a depressive place).

I didn't care for the sex too much - which is probably why I don't care to see the 5 1/2 hour version, I imagine it includes a ton more sex. My favorite element of the film is its aesthetic minimalism: the way it pares away all the elements of modern life (media, advertising, products, even the cars look old) to create this old-fashioned or somehow "timeless" feel. It feels like it could be set in the 70s, even if it's not. Also I like the way it mixes European and US characters in this uncanny way.

Shia LaBoeuf's hairstyle also was very distracting, intentionally so I do believe.
