Swedish music, in swedish. There's plenty of great music that never seeps out of the Scandinavian borders, let alone Sweden, that is worth a listen. The big ones that break through internationally are well known these days as "english" songwriters, but even then the original lyrics in swedish often lose some artistic integrity once the artist translates them or starts writing in english. Others improve and find their "voice" through english.

"Nordpolen" writes in swedish and is just one of a group of musicians I'm going to share for more to discover.

And "Vanligt Folk", a group with members from C.Aarmé:

Feel free to post more non-english musicians/bands you'd like to recommend in this thread. I'm not into folky "world music" or a world music thread, just plain amazing music that just happens to be in a different language than our beloved and popular english.

One of MY favourite Italian bands. They don't really fit in any other thread on the forum either.

The new Stromae album is, of course, staggering - though big trigger warnings for depression and suicide
Recommend listening first cold and then reading translated lyrics on the second listen
Last two tracks particularly completely got me. God damn.
He is top of my bucket list live now - have to wait until May 2023 though!

The new Rosalía is out. Was a little bit nervous as she was starting to stray from the El Mal Querer sound, but I'm generally happy with this new album - besides the artwork, eurgh

This is my favourite at the moment:

Let's see...I like Tool, NIN (obviously,) Old 97s...I like a LOT of stuff.

Don't get me wrong: I LOVE Bowie, Seal, the Beatles, Sting and the Police, Peter Gabriel, Oasis, Led Zeppelin and Robert Plant, Dire Straits, Queen, Prodigy...

But there are a LOT of non English acts I really dig. I think the majority of the artists I listen to aren't English.

Stuttgart based post punk band Die Nerven are about to release their fifth record and I thought I would share their latest appearance on German television. Maybe some of you enjoy it:

Speaking of Die Nerven. Max Rieger, vocals and guitar, released a record under the name of his other project All Diese Gewalt, which I really enjoyed as well:

One day my girlfriend was listening to some J-pop and this band Ningen Isu autoplayed. I was like wait this is pretty awesome. We ended up digging into a few of their albums. If you're into Sabbath and traditional heavy metal kind of stuff in Japanese, I recommend.
