So, NIN confirmed with And So I Watch You From Afar to play the 21st of August.

Who's gonna be there?

slave2thewage
05-28-2013, 12:24 PM
Yeah, I should be there. Tickets go on sale when I'm in Manchester for Muse though. GAH.

Meeeeeeeeeee! But since I haven't posted in about 6 years, nobody will know who I am anymore :(

slave2thewage

Gah, do you think this will sell out right away? I'll be in Manchester on Friday morning and probably won't be able to get online until the afternoon.

A friend of mine has just brought this to my attention. Thinking of attending! I'll be going to Leeds and Reading afterwards, not sure if this is overkill :\

Happy to see AIWYFA live again too...

There's a VIP ticket option. Was that there when the tickets when on sale?

I'll be flying over from Edinburgh, if anyone could suggest some cheap, nearby accommodation let me know. I'm not adverse to staying in hostels.... I can slum it! :p

slave2thewage
06-19-2013, 04:03 PM
Yeah, don't bother with the VIP. It's a sectioned-off part that runs down the left of the stage area. If you want a "good" position then just stick to regular tickets.

I can't thank you enough for the response. I have a GA ticket but have been looking for a VIP one for a few days. Would much rather experience the show head on. Cheers!

If you're still looking for accommodation, I went for The Linen House hostel (http://www.belfasthostel.com/). It's about five streets away from Custom House Square.

Just noticed this on Belsonic facebook:

"Dublin Rockers The Minutes (https://www.facebook.com/theminutes?directed_target_id=0) to open for Nine Inch Nails (https://www.facebook.com/ninofficial?directed_target_id=0) and And So I Watch You From Afar (https://www.facebook.com/andsoiwatchyoufromafar?directed_target_id=0) at Belsonic on Weds 21st Aug!
If you haven't got a ticket for this yet and want to go, we advise buying soon. Tickets available from belsonic.com, Ticketmaster and The Kitten Bar, Belfast (https://www.facebook.com/thekittenbar?directed_target_id=0)."

slave2thewage

It's confirmed on The Minutes' Facebook page. They sound... average. I'd only heard of them before because they were playing at the venue where I do my music course in December last year.

I meant to mention it when I booked it two weeks ago, but I forgot. My apologies. Belfast is a pretty expensive place when it comes to accommodation, for some reason.

i'm seriously thinking about this still, the missus has family in Belfast, so accommodation would be ok for me, and it's s quick flight from Luton London airport
it's just the chance of getting a few days off of work.... something to look into i think

Any idea what time you'll be arriving at? I plan on leaving Dublin early, like 11 or 12 meeting up with John and Kev in Connolly and getting the choo choo NIN train to Belfast.

Mchughs bar used to have a.dodgy door policy, if you can be arsed with the walk, vodoo lounge and katy dalys are more 'alternative ' friendly.. or decent pints i'll probably be propping the bar in the garrick up

The garricks about a 10 minute walk from customs house square, proper boozer , decent beer and food and a good bottle selection. its about a 5 minute walk to Katy Dalys and the limelight
http://www.thegarrickbar.com/

The Hudsons good as well, your a bit out of the town centre(belfast centre isn't that big) and if you don't know belfast that well , you could stray in the wrong direction and end up in a couple of bars/ areas that can be a bit unsavory

The band were awesome. Trent said "It's good to finally get here. Thanks for showing up." during what WOULD have been the second "And doesn't it feel better" verse of MotP. Also, I finally managed to troll him. He was doing the Closer stare (the one after the first chorus) and he made eye contact with me (was on the barrier in front of him all night) and I started doing the exact same face back. He ducked to the side slightly and laughed and then composed himself in time for the second verse. #winning

The whole WIWC?/TWOIT thing was, according to Trent's speech, his "mistake". Something was up during Wish, he was dragging the mic stand around during Wish and kept fiddling at his in-ears.

And now, the bad: there were so many fucking dickheads in the crowd last night. I seriously thought we were getting an aborted Hurt last night. Also, the hippo that kept shouting shit at me during the show can fucking drown in her own blubber. Also, she interruped my twerking. Harlot.

Nice to meet ETS people and have an ETS-centric part of the barrier, too.

All in all, I don't think I'd go to a show in Belfast again. Although the band were pretty tingly in all the good places.

It was a seriously long gig, felt to me like they played for nearly two hours! Ah man, the airport computers are dogshit. There was a lot of screaming going on during Hurt but I was just to the left of Trent and he looked fairly happy while he was playing it to me with everyone clapping and singing along for the most part... maybe I was just wasted though...

Yeah, he didn't seem to mind in the end, since he probably anticipated it. It's still sad that he didn't come down to the barrier for Piggy though.

That show slayed me, I'm exhausted! I slept in and missed my flight to Leeds haha!

I can't articulate how my thoughts on the show just now, I need to get my Head Down* for some sleep

(*im still running with this Slave, lol)

It was bloody awesome to meet some ETSers, thanks for being brilliant company throughout the day, hope to do it again!

Right, I'm off to boards flight, ciao!

Yeah, I was half expecting him to come to the barrier too. Too bad he didn't what with being up the front and all but I thought it was a great gig all the same, wasn't expecting to get the lights either which were fairly luxury!

I don't think I could have handled my self very well if that happened for a second consecutive time... I'm still getting over it. Eye contact will do for now :p

Great night! Belfast seems like such a nice city.
The venue was unusual it was strange to see people in their apartments right beside the crowd watching the gig!
Started the evening with some great friends and strangers we met on the train up but as the night went on people got drunker and drunker and a group in front of me talked all the way through Find my way.
I think I done with seeing NIN at a festival environment too many wobbly dicks, groping and terrible dancing girls

There were a load of drunk ones that got second/third row from shoving through the crowd when NIN started. The shoving to get my place was fun. Bitch, I've been here from 6am and I'm not moving.

It was a spectacular show from NIN last night. I loved that new version of Sanctified but I was a bit worried that the whole show was going to end up like that, very synthy. But it turned pretty heavy shortly after so I was loving it all. I really was not expecting anything from 'The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo' and even with the mess up it was a haunting and captivating performance. Was it definitely Help Me I Am In Hell that was played? I couldn't make out if it was that or a track from Ghosts.

Was so excited to hear 'Me, I'm Not' as being to 3 NIN shows now that is the first Year Zero track I've heard aside from Survivalism. That album seriously needs more live attention.

I was a little underwhelmed by yet another Hand That Feeds-Head Like A Hole-Hurt ending set since I've heard it every time I've seen them and aside from some shows on the 'Wave Good-bye tour' that's been the closing section since 2005. It didn't help that some cunt screamed out the words in some strangled cat voice which made a load of dickheads start some fucking stupid cheering. Zero-Sum would a fantastic closer, somber enough to play in place of Hurt but loud enough to keep the energy levels high and drown out the pricks.

The light show was brilliant, I've missed it on the other shows I've been to. That distorted projection during Closer really adds an extra uncomfortable element to the performance.

Sorry I couldn't post at all yesterday from the gig (or beforehand)

I seems that this board is not windows-phone friendly :(

Anyway, I'm uploading some video clips to youtube. will post as they are processed if anyone wants them.

Only short clips i'm afraid ( 10 - 30 seconds each, no full songs) , because i was in front of a lot of people and didn't want to obscure their view or enjoyment any more than necessary. They're enough to get a feel of the gig anyway, and they're all in 1080p

Here's a tester anyway - support act

That'd be me dude. It was an excellent gig wasn't it? I'm pretty sure I was still fairly wasted even then. ASIWYFA were and epic support act to weren't they? That was my fourth time seeing them. Class act.

...of course they had it upside down :/ I mean some Niall and Barry guys on the bus from Dublin airport to Belfast, but sadly lost them
ended up alone at the show but befriended these guys, lovely bunch, great so, so quashed and crushed and sweaty, but loved every raging second of it,
Trent seemed in seriously good spirits, partially because it was so long since he's been in Belfast, i think? Either way he seemed like he wanted
to put on a good show regardless of weather, venue, size, Hurt dick heads, they fucking rocked, and the set list was the ideal one i was hoping for,
and he was a good laugh when he fucked up, started playing TWOIT before What If We Could, I had a great time just wish I wasn't sick and had more money to be more fun,

Absolutely loved the gig. First time seeing them and it was without a doubt the best gig I've ever been to. The visuals were fucking insane. Delighted we got The Wretched, Sanctified and WIFC?.

Was talking to a few people from here beforehand as well. Met Slave2thewage anyway; I was one of the guys who showed up around 2:30pm with the Origin of Symmetry shirt.

I loved it too. I chose this gig over Leeds festival, despite living only 15 miles from the Leeds Festival site. The whole trip (ticket, hotel, transport) cost me less than a day ticket for Leeds. Go figure!

The tall guy with the bandanna long hair and leather coat and the small lady in front of him is my boyfriend and me  I have waited so long to see NIN play and to see them in my home town made the experience all the better. The only problem I had at the concert was the lady you can see with the short red hair and tattoos directly in front of my boyfriend and me. Her and her friends we so rude and inconsiderate of people around them and her tall long haired friend stood right in front of me after making her way up from the back some where using the immortal line "I'm with her that's my friend, I'm just trying to get to my friend." Fuck and that is what I say, the rest of the people around us were awesome and I would like to give a shout out to the two lovely ladies to the very top left of the picture who made room for me so I could again see the stage, thanks ladies you are too kind;) Sorry for the rant.
Getting to hear Burn and Wish live was beyond anything I could have wished for and my personal favourite Only was the icing on the cake. We got to meet some awesome NIN fans in the hotel we stayed in particularly the mad Liverpudlians Michelle and Nick, all in all considering the size of the stage the visuals were amazing particularly during Closer. I have some videos and will throw them up once I get a chance.
