New film from Terrence Malick.

Somehow, I didn't find about this until 2 days ago. I know Malick has been working on a movie with Christian Bale, Rooney Mara, Cate Blanchett, and every other great actor working today, but To The Wonder eluded me 'til very recently. What a great surprise.

My local Landmark theater is going to have a special screening next month. I hope I can get the chance to attend that special screening. Malick is God!

I got to see it over the weekend in DC.

Love and faith in crisis.
Relationships physical and spiritual faltering.
Staggeringly beautiful outdoor shots
Typical Malick

While watching it I felt no emotional connection,
but the avalanche of thought and ideas I've had
since is amazing.

Part of this movie was filmed in my hometown of Bartlesville, Oklahoma. My mother was head of guest relations at the time at the Price Tower (a Frank Lloyd Wright building) and got to meet Ben Affleck while he was staying there. I've been very excited to see it as I'm a big Malick fan. Glad to hear good reviews, can't wait to see it.

And here is Roger Ebert's final published review and I'm just glad it wasn't The Host: http://rogerebert.suntimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20130406/REVIEWS/130409984

Thank you Roger, we will miss you.

Watched it tonight. Magical film. I found myself particularly moved during the first half. The stuff with Tatiana (the only character I ever recall being mentioned by name) was very special.

Can't wait to see it again.

Would love to hear some more opinions from those of you who have seen it. :)

I saw it today along w/ Trance (I'll put out that review tomorrow) as it didn't get a good reception w/ the very small audience that I saw it with as I seemed to be the only one that really liked it though I'm aware of its flaws. Here's my review: http://thevoid99.blogspot.com/2013/04/to-wonder.html
