04-10-2013, 05:45 AM
Ooof, it's certainly late for anyone on the east coast. I'd rather be sipping my tea at 8:00 in England than pulling a virtual all-nighter to catch this at 3:00 here in the States. Ow.

04-10-2013, 10:44 AM
i hope someone can capture this on youtube because there is no way in hell i'll be up at 3am on the east coast.

Seems the best way to rip is with VLC from what I've read online, do we have anyone gonna do this or shall we all try our own methods?

BenAkenobi
04-10-2013, 11:19 PM
wait, the stream doesn't stay on youtube after the event? the devil is this?!

sheepdean
04-10-2013, 11:29 PM
It almost certainly will. My problem with that statement is the almost.

Plus, ETS not ripping a livestream? What is this madness?

Leviathant
04-11-2013, 12:01 AM
Plus, ETS not ripping a livestream? What is this madness?

Everyone's got iPads and forgot how to really abuse computers these days. I couldn't believe no one was ripping the audio from comesforthinthethaw.com, and that I had to fucking do it myself. (Except later I found out there was someone else doing it.) Lesson? If you want something done right, do it yourself.

sheepdean
04-11-2013, 12:04 AM
I'm going to try it with VLC, but I'm tempted to run hypercam just because I KNOW that works.

'course, it'll all probably be uploaded, but there's always the risk of it being a director's cut.

DistantSamantha
04-11-2013, 04:17 AM
I'm going to rip the livestream if I'm at home. At least it's Saturday morning here, so I wouldn't have to stay up all night for one hour (?) set.

ryanmcfly
04-11-2013, 11:24 PM
I usually try to rip audio with AudioJack and it usually works fine. So I'm going to try that tomorrow night.

Reznor2112
04-12-2013, 08:25 AM
I wont be able to rip the live stream as I wont be home but if the full video is still up Saturday morning I can rip the full HD version and upload it to share.

I've got a working rip of the 1080 stream using vlc. I tested it out on Lee Scratch Perry. ~30MB/min is a reasonable file size for a 1080 stream, right?

Edit 1: I'm in the US and I have no buffering issues at all. Also, the stream is running on a playlist that does 4-5s segments, so one could in theory start at just about any place in the stream.

SM Rollinger
04-12-2013, 08:49 PM
Yes an audio rip would be great. flac plz

sheepdean
04-12-2013, 08:59 PM
FLAC rip is meaningless as Youtube isn't a lossless stream...

SM Rollinger

I kno it wouldnt be lossless, but id rather stay away from other formats

cynicmuse
04-12-2013, 09:15 PM
Yes an audio rip would be great. flac plz
FYI, there's no point in a making a flac rip since the audio is already in a lossy format. The audio is mp4a with a bit rate of 253.4kbps (for the 1080 stream); the best bit is just to rip the audio from the video stream without transcoding it.

Actually think I'm going to have to pause the stream, and wait for my wife to go to work at 8.20, so I can watch it uninterrupted and on my HDTV. Oh my... wow... wow... wow. I think I would seriously die by emotions overload during A Drowning, one of my favourites all time... the visuals, the stage is unbelievable, loved LITS, but this is even better... Mariqueen... amazing... It is 10:15 a.m. here and feels like it is, I don't even know what time it is... ;-) They seriously need to bring this over here to Europe, really. Astounding.

PS: Happy that guy with camera on stick kept it together. :-)

!@#$!@#$ I had a good stream for the first 45 minutes, then it dropped the audio for 2 seconds. I also got a drop or two in the last song. I think that I can download the stream with some command line fun, but it will take some time.

That was amazing. It was a perfect well balanced complete show.
Everything sounded so good. There you can see they are good musicians.
The songs from the first EP were surprising: the believers + fur-lined were awesome!
The band was excellent, compliments to mariqueen.

Funny to watch them live from the other side of the world early in the morning.
Seen enough of them right now.
Can't wait for Montclair and NYC ;)

Happy!

Damn, that was incredible. The only disappointments were the shitty quality of the stream up through ATSBTS, and the fact that the encore wasn't played. But, overall, that was amazing to watch, and I'm glad I got to see it.

The dude with the camera on a stick was pretty annoying, though.

slave2thewage

I didn't understand that at all. I was hoping Mariqueen would run through the curtain and douse the camera with water at one point.

simonn
04-13-2013, 03:34 AM
Have to admit, struggled to keep it together during ATSBTS and A Drowning. Awesome show. The Believers - my least favourite song of the first EP, totally shocked me, sounded great. I was a bit disappointed the cameras weren't as close as you get sometimes, but I presume that would've rather ruined 'the look' of the show. Felt a bit sorry for Ally, who on one or two songs, was completely obscured, only reason I knew he was still onstage was cos I could see the headstock of his bass! Big props to the band and Moment Factory.

I'll look forward to Cynicmuse's upload in due course, sure we can all forgive a couple of glitches!

Have just realised you can go onto the channel 1 feed on Youtube, and drag back to anywhere you fancy...oh dear, here we go again!

Where is a good place to put the mostly good 1080p recording (it's 1.7GB)? I haven't had to transfer large files to large numbers of people in a while. Also, I have the full stream in 1080p, but I have to piece it together from 737 component parts. I'll have that done in 12 hours or so.

Upload it to Dropbox (http://db.tt/KiWU5XDX)? It'll give you 2GB of storage right off the bat, and you can then post a link here (or anywhere else) that anyone can use to download. While torrenting may be more efficient, this would definitely be a great way to do it for those who are apparently having problems with various torrent sites. And there isn't a barrage of sketchy, potentially harmful ads popping up for people who don't want to pay for the service, unlike most other upload sides.

so this is crazy, but i'm having a super hard time getting my brain to hear The Believers correctly. I've listened a bunch of times and compared to ep version. I know how the beat is supposed to go, but I can't stop hearing it shifted a half beat off so it sounds like the vox are out of time. Don't know if it's the new synth rhythms or the fact that the snare hit (which i know is supposed to be between beats 2 and 3, 4 and 1) is more pronounced or something. i have to seriously concentrate to hear the rhythm right.

Because im sure I wasnt the only one who felt teased by the 4.10 shows audio that is on dime and RITC.

Anyways, I used Switchsound to convert flacs to the 320k mp3, since its not lossless to beginwith. When i get home, ill open a dropbox and get the files on that, for those of us who want unmastered audio. Ill put the flacs up too, incase your like me and prefer those to mp3s anyways.

I've got a place to store the file; I just need to finish stringing it together. I had to do some lossless file conversion fun to get it into a format that I could string together. It will be another 6 hours since I also need to watch it once I've strung it together. This was my first experience trying to edit video on linux so there's been a bit of a learning curve.

so this is crazy, but i'm having a super hard time getting my brain to hear The Believers correctly. I've listened a bunch of times and compared to ep version. I know how the beat is supposed to go, but I can't stop hearing it shifted a half beat off so it sounds like the vox are out of time. Don't know if it's the new synth rhythms or the fact that the snare hit (which i know is supposed to be between beats 2 and 3, 4 and 1) is more pronounced or something. i have to seriously concentrate to hear the rhythm right.

anybody else? probably not. maybe I'm nuts.
I gave it a listen, and it seems like certain parts of the drum rhythm aren't quite as prevalent as in the album version, so it becomes really hard to pick out the downbeats. I managed it by focusing entirely on the vocals, and then the rest of the music seemed to shift into place. It was weird, though, having to actually try to hear it properly instead of just listening to it.

htda2013-04-12.pro.webcast.0.720p.SubsAndChapters.zip (http://ninfrance.free.fr/soustitre/htda2013-04-12.pro.webcast.0.720p.SubsAndChapters.zip)
This won't touch quality at all, but will produce a far more friendly file.

Quick instructions:
-Download and launch freeware MKVmergeGUI from MKVtoolnix (http://www.videohelp.com/tools/MKVtoolnix)
-Drag and drop subtitles and ts files in the source files aera
-Add language option and/or forced on subtitles if needed
-Chapters don't go on this tab or even in the chapter menu or chapter editor tab, don't go there
-Open Global tab, go down to chapter file and pick any of the 3 chapter files provided
-Start to mux !

Same thing is available for the closure downloadable on vimeo : Closure_chapters_and_subs.zip (http://ninfrance.free.fr/soustitre/Closure_chapters_and_subs.zip)

Totally. I believe (sorry) it's the drum rhythm. The snare isn't exactly in the middle of a bar, but one (8th of a) tempo later. So when you hear three kick drums, pause, kick, snare, kick, the down-beat isn't on the second kick and the snare, but on the first kick and the fourth kick instead. Live, the snare is clearly a lot more different from the kick than on the EP, hence the catching off-guard.
I've also heard the "shifted" version yesterday once, it was kind of weirdly awesome, but once the synths start going, it's difficult to keep it that way in one's brain.

Sorry guys. I thought that I could string the files together and there are clear audio and video artifacts at the boundaries. I tried MP4Box, which had issues with the VBR audio rates, avidemux, and using ffmpeg to concatenate the files. I've got no idea if professional software would work better with these mp4 files... if someone has time and experience with video editing, PM me and I'll link you to a sample of the 737 original files.

I'm currently uploading the 1080p stream which I'll pass along to RITC. It's good with the exception of a stutter at 47:15 and 47:26 when played with VLC, though the behavior of the artifact depended upon which version of VLC I was running.

Exact same thing here. I even started posting a new message in this very thread but ended up giving because my english is not solid enough to explain it like you did.

Trent really needs to shout out : "3, 4!" right before the beat kicks in. I hope this doesn't happen when I see them because The Believers is my favorite track and I want to enjoy it. Maybe with very loud kick hits it won't happen.

I thought the set was OK. Some songs definitely translated well live . MY big problem was with the timing being off on allot of songs and also mariqueens vocals definitely were not as solid as when they were on the EP and Album.

The opening track i cringed when i heard her first sing the ah ah part was horribly off.

Big compliments to the visuals and lighting very well done although I don't know if you want to hide the band through the whole performance thats a bit overkill.

Re: Q's voice... I think it's even better than on the record, it's awesome. I love the fact they're shying away from putting too much effect on it, it brings it out much clearer than on the record.

edit: however, the audio was a bit rougher in Coachella, I'm guessing it has to do with the festival environment. it could be the reason for the off-keyness at points. she kills it in Welcome Oblivion though. god damn.

Nice ! it would be a good idea to extract m4a and resplit files, and replace lossy mp3 files. I'm trying to work on some CUE file that could help

ninjaw
04-15-2013, 03:52 AM
Ok, I created an audio CUE file, I also updated chapters and subs in this updated complete package: htda2013-04-12.SubsAndChapters.zip (http://ninfrance.free.fr/soustitre/htda2013-04-12.SubsAndChapters.zip)
So you can add chapters, subs, if you want... But your 1080p file produced MANY errors in remuxing/playing/subtitling (when creating subs, refuse to play, as in my usual ZoomPlayer, direct remuxing produced warning message and unsync).
You may receive many play complains, I fixed it with the commercial TMPGenc Mpeg Smart Renderer 4, this tool is famous to edit videos without recoding them, ( well, it will recode minimum, the cut parts for example). In your case I watched it work, it recoded many small video parts, but also kept a lot of untouched video parts, it gave me a playable version, who allowed me to work. So you can say it smart-fixed your video file.

Back to what's new: I used chapter file on your audio, and tweaked it to produce a CUE file. This will help you extract and cut a perfect M4A version of the live show, instead of the actual MP3 version. Only one lossy compression: the one did by youtube. The audio in your file is not damaged and workable.
Quick instructions :
-Use freeware YAMB (http://yamb.unite-video.com/) for example to extract the AAC/M4A file
-Download and launch freeware mp3directcut (http://mpesch3.de1.cc/mp3dc.html) not forgetting to add libFAAD2 dll for Win32 (http://rarewares.org/aac-decoders.php) so it will play AAC files.
-Mp3DirectCut is famous for being able to edit without recoding MP3 files but also MP2 and M4A via additional free dll
-Load the AAC file
-Special/Load CUE sheet over current audio file
-File/Save split

1) It's web streamed audio, it's going to suck
2) Festival sound is notoriously worse than concert sound. You don't have nearly as much time to soundcheck at festivals and it's not all about one band.
3) Broadcast audio is just as bad, imagine someone who doesn't know the band having to mix the sound that's being sent to the live stream
4) This is the second ever HTDA gig, they're still working out the kinks, that's why there is spikes and dips in instrument volumes at certain points

That's actually not true, since most of the festival stages have more power and more bass that do most of the bands much more justice than some shitty small venues.

That doesn't really mean much to the live broadcast mix though does it?
Also, you can have all the power and bass you want, but if it's not mixed right, it'll end up sounding rubbish.
