There isn't one here for HTDA from what I can tell (if its unneeded go ahead and delete)

Anyways spotted this on wimp today, and loled @ how 1998 it was.

I looked through all the major HTDA threads here, but I haven't found anyone who has posted this... which is rather odd considering it was tweated by Trent.
Anyway...
Ice Age (deadmau5 remix)

Better than the original!

It was talked about in the An omen EP_ topic, you must have just not been looking hard enough.

I wouldn't say better than the original, but it's still a really good remix. Way better than the KIT ones, anyway.

i like it other than the percussion in the first 1/3 of the song. it's irritating and distracting, and doesn't fit the aesthetic of the track at all. the percussion that comes in later, however, is great.

Interview with The Soft Moon (http://janepain.wordpress.com/2013/01/10/interview-with-the-soft-moon/) (I think it might be Luis Vasquez), talking here about the remix of "Ice Age":

"He considered it his favorite remix. We got that e-mail and we were like “yeahhhh”. And I just got another e-mail. They want me to send them stems of an instrumental of the track because I think they want to perform my version live."

If you bought both the CD and the vinyl in the same order, then that's most likely why. You get a digital download with each physical copy, even if they're in the same order.

some thought provoking WTO(sic!) spotting:

Ultra Warrior, also known as Welcome to Oblivion, is a post-apocalyptic 1990 film directed by Augusto Tamayo San Román and Kevin Tent. Set in a futuristic dystopia, a nuclear holocaust creates mutants who inhabit the radioactive areas. One man emerges as the leader of a group of survivors called "Muties". The main character, portrayed the Dack Rambo, is looking for zirconium which is used to make bombs to prevent aliens from destroying Earth

How can Pitchfork, on one hand, keep capitalizing on Trent, reporting every single thing he tweets because they know it's bringing an insane amount of traffic to their site, and on the other hand, keep churning out mediocre reviews of the new albums repeating he's not relevant anymore?

Because they're remaining unbiased and doing their jobs correctly?

Canuckle
03-06-2013, 08:31 AM
Minor point... but doing their jobs correctly should also entail being accurate in their facts.

" Nine Inch Nails (http://pitchfork.com/artists/3043-nine-inch-nails/)' Year Zero (http://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/10125-year-zero/) made its way into the world as part of a massive multimedia campaign that included a dystopian storyline, a video game (http://pitchfork.com/news/48417-trent-reznors-call-of-duty-black-ops-ii-video-game-music-gets-commercial-release/), a remix album, an as-yet-unmade film and, famously, USB devices containing parts of the record left in European bathroom stalls."

The 'a video game' links to this... http://pitchfork.com/news/48417-trent-reznors-call-of-duty-black-ops-ii-video-game-music-gets-commercial-release/

It's typical of Pitchfork to try and sound smarter than they are and the review is no different. While I accept the critique and some good points are made, the author appears to have a preconceived idea of what should be on the album and appears disappointed when the album splays in various directions. Also, the apparent TR complex is embedded throughout (e.g., the first 2 paragraphs are dedicated to TR's doings over the past number of years). I would love to see what half these reviews would say given that TR wasn't attached by name. I bet we would see some change, both good and bad.

sheepdean
03-06-2013, 12:12 PM
Because they're remaining unbiased and doing their jobs correctly?
Yeah I really disagree with the review, but if it's earnest, then that's better than giving it a 10.0 just because they featured it.

spahn
03-06-2013, 12:29 PM
it seems that grayson was listening to a different album than we were. i couldn't disagree with him more. is it deserving of a 10, maybe not, but IMO, it should be damn close. Comparing it to An Omen EP_ shows little comprehension as to the bigger picture of what Welcome Oblivion_ is. as some were saying on the boards, as stand alone songs, An Omen EP_ probably didn't deliver as maybe HTDA would have hoped, but in the context of Welcome Oblivion_, those same "re-used" songs as he pointed out, work very well and add to the overall feel and them of the world HTDA are painting.

musically, it's the best album I've heard in the past year, sans the new tweaker album and front line assembly's air mech instrumental album. Q's voice, for those who had any doubt, really rises to the occasion on this album and powerfully delivers the message.

and if this guy really new the reason why NIN was announced a few days short of Welcome Oblivion_ being released, he may have a different opinion as to trent using HTDA to relaunch a NIN tour and possible new album.

At midnight, behind a scrim, How to Destroy Angels took the stage in the Mojave tent. A side project of Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails — it also features his wife — it is a drowsy approximation of trip-hop, and is curiously inert, especially from someone so tactile and ferocious in his day job. Maybe he has nothing left to give.

I've been listening to NIN for 21 years. Rob recently posted "Welcome Oblivion" from the Coachella broadcast (https://vimeo.com/68964573) on his Vimeo account.

The video led me to this video (https://vimeo.com/68561476) posted by the Moment Factory six days ago, "How To Destroy Angels - Demo" which has some cool behind the scenes footage of the production/rehearsals of the tour.

Searched a couple pages back in this thread and it does not appear the Moment Factory video has been posted before. Was it posted elsewhere?

i thought it maybe deserved some attention, the more people involved the more chance of happening...

One suspects it's futile, but Songkick Detour is taking 'pledges' to try and get HTDA over to London for a show: https://detour.songkick.com/metro_ar...28251/campaign (https://detour.songkick.com/metro_areas/24426/artists/3328251/campaign)

So what's the real story? Is it simply that the venue, timing, or space needed for other bands couldn't accommodate all the light screens and visuals? But then there's an issue at both shows. Some challenge in pulling off both shows, maybe the Sam crew or production team does both bands?

Boo! That's just lazy fulfillment. You might be surprised how many ecommerce companies calculate shipping based on item price, rather than dimensions or weight.

RJK
04-27-2015, 07:46 PM
$17 for 2 hoodies and a tee seems excessive but I was probably going to buy them soon anyway. Saved a few bucks in the end.

Leviathant
04-27-2015, 08:21 PM
That is why a lot of ecommerce companies have moved to a "All free shipping all the time" model. The more egregious shipping profits are masked in ambiguously higher prices. When it's laid out in front of you like that, it's admittedly off-putting in the way Ticketmaster "convenience fees" are. But as any longtime NIN fan knows, good fulfillment companies are hard to find. If you go with one that has really low shipping, you probably have to pay them higher percentages of sales, and give up control over how your products are merchandised - goodbye custom store, goodbye exclusivity. For better or for worse.

RJK
04-30-2015, 01:53 PM
Ordered on the 27th and received the shipment today. Much better than modlife.

$17 for 2 day usps priority shipping isn't so bad after all.

also, did not know where to ask/comment on this but in the discography section of nin.com, the first HTDA record shows Rob Sheridan as a member of the band.
now given how hes not involved with NIN for at least the EP (maybe more?), i wonder if he will be part of HTDA for future stuff.

maybe one has nothing to do with the other and i am just reading way too much into Rob not being involved with NIN this time around...there were a few people here who were happy to see someone else working with TR so theres that.

I spotted something interesting on the Bunkerstudios website:

http://www.bunkerstudios.org/holmes/

The image of "Christopher Holmes Discography" was created on July 2016 (7/13/2016).
Since then, he indeed was credited in the last NIN EPs. But he also has a HTDA Live Show "mixing" to be determined.

(this also means we could have had a proof of new NIN as soon as July 2016, if any of us had seen this website back then).

Five years, but who's counting? :p

And TBD could just mean that the work was done, but there's no set time for it to see the light of day. Trent could have said "we'll get back to this at some point" and just left it at that without giving a yes or no answer on it. There's also the possibility that Mr. Holmes isn't aware of the fact that the video was released already without the soundboard mix.

For the last thing like this he did (for AVOTT), he made the transcript of the discord chat available. He'll do that for this as well. Mariqueen has been posting snippets of music on her Instagram she and Alessandro did for Fendi, which I’m guessing is a fashion thing?

Yes, Alessandro has been working with Fendi for a few years. They're an Italian fashion house. The first time was right before COVID hit, and he did what I gather was a DJ set or something based on existing music. For their last two runway shows, he's composed music for it. This last one, Mariqueen contributed some vocals to it, though it's just atmospheric really.

It's nothing new. MQ often reposts stories whenever someone tags htda in theirs.

It's been a little more frequent that usual which also caused me to think maybe there was something in the works. I should know better than to get excited about it...

That's why I stopped following the account. It was always someone making/selling jewelry or makeup. Thanks but no thanks.
