Goes well with the beer I'm drinking. I don't drink beer that often, but when I do, pretzels are required. Harpoon IPA is pretty yummy.

1/3 cup liquid honey.
1 teaspoon dried dill weed.
Mix well & refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
Dip in your fingers & enjoy - don't forget to double-dip!:D

It's one of those terms that doesn't make it over here, ever. The only kind of thing I remember ever seeing it referenced in on British TV was children's shows, and younger children's shows rarely cross country lines.

Yup. So soldaatjes translates to little soldiers. Which is weird, come to think of it.

Yummy zone.

Yesterday my classmate took 3 of us to a Chinese Dim Sum restaurant. The waitresses move about the restaurant pushing carts full of various dishes. They present some to you and you can choose what ones you would like put on your table. They put a stamp on your bill for each kind of dish you take. The steamed rice with the chicken on top was good but the rest was not my preference. In fact, later that night I was on a date and I had to leave her for a good 20 minutes because of a very volatile situation in my guts. Oh the wonders of trying new food.

Day 1 of Teh New Diet! YES! I do plan to bore you all out of your minds by posting here every single day, and adding pictures of my food once the Bento Box arrives. OH YEAH! The inner 16 year old attention whore is never far from the surface, really.

So, I had chervil soup with noodles followed by no-fat cherry yoghurt with some fresh redcurrants and a glass of pommegranate juice for breakfast, which left me oddly satisfied until about 11:30, then I started to get really hungry. So I'm going to need to eat something more substantial.

Lunch was wheat with spring onions and sunflower seeds, a boiled egg, three radishes and a paprika/pineapple salad with a pineapple vinaigrette.
I did eat another yoghurt at 3, mostly because I'm worried about calcium otherwise.

Dinner was stirfry with wheat, cumin, paprika, smoked trout and pineapple - and a big bowl of it too.

- strips of Maïski :)

That means I'll have to cook up a new batch of wheat or rice on Wednesday, and prep some new veg tomorrow night (probably beans, because I'm going to clean my fridge next weekend so I'm just eating whatever I find in it right now :)).

So I have just discovered Pork Buttons - From wiki: Button ribs are flat, circular shaped bones located at the sirloin end of the loin. They are not actually ribs, as they are not taken from the rib cage. The button ribs consist of the last 4 to 6 bones on the backbone that do not have actual ribs connected to them. The meat on the button ribs consists of meat that covers each button and connects them together.

That being said they are insanely inexpensive, contain very little fat & soak up anything you can marinade them in. My first four marinades/recipes included:
- Orange zest/dried chili flakes/fresh grated ginger & sprinkled with toasted sesame seeds after grilling.
- Honey/minced fresh garlic/soy sauce.
- Chili powder/smoked paprika/liquid mesquite smoke/lotsa fresh ground pepper, grilled then tossed in Bullseye's Roasted Garlic & Onion BBQ Sauce.
- Buffalo style (Grilled with S&P then tossed in equal amounts of melted butter & hotsauce).

Good Lord, I will never touch a greasy, fatty chicken wing ever again. If only I had some Hockey to watch while devouring these things.

That & my folks just gave me a Tassimo machine & a big bag of assorted coffee discs as an early x-mas gift. Here's to being jittery all of the time.

My gf and I had some friends over for dinner Friday night. We made: chickpeas with homemade pesto with fresh basil, garlic, olive oil, pine nuts and parmesan cheese; fresh guacamole with lime, jalapeno and scallions; farmer's market tomato salad with more garlic and oil; a quiche with leeks, cheese and cream. Dee-licious. One of my friends brought a store-bought pie, with a very gloopy, starchy blueberry filling. I just ate the refrigerated leftover third of that and feel a bit bloated. Fuckin corn starch.

1/4lb ground beef

1/2 bag of Gucamole-flavored tortilla chips (instead of friend potato slices)
2 sliced jalapeños (I love spicy)
Mozzarella cheese (I forget how much, I used lots though, you should probably just eyeball it to whatever you like)

Some of my favorite combinations as follows. And they're all junk food. :p

Two slices of pepperoni pizza with root beer. (I also like pizza with mushrooms and onions.) I actually used to be able to wolf down up to 3 to 4 slices of pizza back when I was 18 and 19. As of now in my late 20s, 2 seems to be the normal limit for me as the 3rd slice gives me that full feeling. (With the exception of being really hungry and skipping a meal or two.)

Chocolate ice cream with root beer.

Gatorade/Powerade with Jack Link's Beef Jerky/Slim Jims.

Slim Jim beef jerky with Sun Chips.

Junior Mints with iced coffee or Arizona Green Tea with Ginseng and Honey.

Monster Energy with Angry Birds gummy candy, or any type of gummy candy or gelatin.

Kris Pizza with root beer is some of the best! I just had that recently, if I remember correctly. And yeah, most of the time, two is my normal limit as well. :)

so i have been utlizing this cook book in which you "hide" vegetable purees and fool your fussy children (or fussy adult self).
successfully used the orange puree (carrots and sweet potato), the white puree (cauliflower and zucchini) and now am attempting the green puree (spinach, peas and broccoli)...the orange and white get hidden in spaghetti sauce and the green gets hidden in meat balls.
so far adults and kids rave over the spaghetti sauce, so i can't wait to see how the meatballs work out.
oh, and apologies for any spelling mistakes and lack of initiative to check on them. lol. i smoked so much bud this holiday season i am amazed i can feel the ground beneath my feet.
also tried a chocolate mousse recipe that is based on raw avocado. it fooled my son. rawk on. :)

I've been eating pizza for the past 3 years a lot more than I ever have before. My favorite toppings also still seem to be mushrooms, pineapples, onions, and pepperoni. I've also been eating beef patties, and have been having pizza and beef patties with Mountain Dew or Dr Pepper.

I also tried Gatorade with Rite Aid beef jerky and damn, did that combination really work for me too. I still have yet to try Jack Link's Beef Jerky again, though. I had a feeling that I've had it before, but it's been such a long time since I've had it. I also still like Slim Jim, which I've also eaten with Gatorade.

Peanuts and popcorn are also still some of my favorite snacks.

Cranberry juice mixed with orange juice, also doesn't get old to me either. :)

Beef jerky was the last meat I ate before giving it up, haha.

Been eating lots of Asian and Asian junk food. And whisky for breakfast.

Lorien made a "chicken chili" recipe that she found at www.thekitchn.com (http://www.thekitchn.com). It has chicken, red green and yellow bell peppers, onions, carrots, celery, green chiles, chicken broth, cumin, chili powder, cayenne pepper, paprika, white beans, roux, garlic and Louisiana hot sauce.

We haven't eaten it yet but it smells like heaven.
I think it will be a culinary tour de force.

Bad sushi dinner. Now my stomach is all a rumble.
I'm getting the message that sushi in the Midwest is a bad idea.

I've been eating at McDonald's lately after taking a break from it, as I've mostly gone to Burger King and Five Guys for burgers. My favorites from McDonald's have still remained the same as I still like Big Macs, Quarter Pounders and Double Quarter Pounders. Getting the two cheeseburgers was also still okay to me too. I'm also craving Dunkin' Donuts yet again. Thank goodness both places serve iced coffee as well.

It's good, but do what I recommended and go to Romers on 4th near Burrard. Righteous Rib Burger, bro...

I had a fat day yesterday that was basically all carbs - cider, grilled cheese, and fries.

Today, I'm back on keto... Short ribs and zucchini.

omg. apple pie bagel.
terrible stuff. seriously.
the fact that you CAN chew and then swallow this thing is pretty much all it has to recommend it....and since i CAN chew and then swallow any number of things that are not food, well...this bagel gets a huge FAIL.
ugh.

What are good places you guys in NYC like to go to? Apart from Indian cuisine I pretty much eat everything. Give me your pro tips on all things meat, seafood, sweet stuff etc. ;)

You should post this in the NY thread, if you haven't already.
If it's not too late:

My favorite Thai places are Galanga in West Village and Thailand Cafe in East Village.
You want a Jewish deli? Try Second Avenue Deli. For bagels Ess-A-Bagel.
Italian: Supper and Il Buco, both downtown.
There are some awesome hip trad American cuisine restaurants in W-Burg: Sweetwater and Diner come to mind. I also want to try Potlikker: the chef's previous restaurant Queen's Hideaway was amazing.

I'm yet to go so thanks for your response. I have already been to ess-a-bagel and it was truly great! I posted in the NY thread (did not see it when searching at first) and would love some more recommendations from you guys. :)
