Is there a styleguide for this band? I'm so confused when to use capitalization and underscores.

The styleguide is "take some crack and hit punctuation keys until it looks ok"

There should be a ninwiki-page solely about these various styles.
From the top of my head:

PHM-Era:
NINEINCHNAILS
nine inch nails
NIN

Broken/Fixed
n

TDS went back to
nine inch nails

The Fragile had
NIN (or parts thereof)
nineinchnails

My personal favorite came of course with WT:
[NINE_INCH_NAILS]

Year Zero became pretty straightforward with
NINE INCH NAILS
and the now infamous
N1N3 1NCH N41L5 (but was that ever actually printed? Y34R Z3R0 R3M1X3D is one of the few releases I never bothered buying)

Compare that to the evolution from
How To Destroy Angels
to
How to Destroy Angels / HDA
and now
How to destroy angels_
and it seems rather tame.

But I like it for one simple reason: It makes sense. English has no rules for capitalizing letters other than "I", the "L" in "Lord" and given names. So to a foreigner it usually just looks silly when you try to capitalize song- or movie-titles at random.

Meh, I just get lazy and abbreviate them both to NIN and HTDA. As long as they dont change them both to Nine Inch Nailz and How To Destroy Angelz they can punctuate and change it round for as long as they like

It's HTDA, never been HDA

Whilst English itself doesn't have these rules, many styleguides DO use these rules in publications - song titles should always be capitalised for every word (except sometimes prepositions and articles), that kind of thing. It simply makes things easier to read, and lets the brain quickly see what the article is about.

This page is worse than the HTDA election thread. Woo
