Manson Fans NINcorporated,

Mechanical Animals is a fuckin' awesome album.

Just about every single song on this album is great.

Whoever thinks Marilyn Manson is "all flash and no substance", should check out this album. You will be proven wrong.

It's too bad so many Manson fans were goth kids(using Manson as a figure-head for their social group), since such a large part of his fan-base eroded once goth wasn't cool anymore.

The Dope Show video is awesome... I think it was Manson's last good album.

I agree, I am not some weird suicidal goth kid and i like this album.

The high point of his career, musically. Sadly, most people who hate this album dislike it based on the glam image he adopted.

Personally, here are Manson's albums in the order from best to worst.

1.Mechanical Animals
2.Antichrist
3.Holywood
4.Golden Age
5.Portrait
6.Smells like Children (but this is not really an LP)

I think this is the best MM album too. The production is brilliant and his voice sounds quite amazing compared to how sub-par he sounds on everything else - didn't he actually have a vocal trainer at this time? The band was also a hell of a lot more musical and the lyrics are some of my personal favourites ever.

He needs to employ another vocal trainer, desperately.

Mechanical Animals is amazing. Haven't listened to manson in a long time. But that album is worth listening to anytime. His vocals are probably the best he's ever done in his career. The music is just amazing. It's real close between that and antichrist superstar. But yeah. Would end up being something like...

Antichrist Superstar
Mechanical Animals
Portrait of an American Family
The Golden Age of Grotesque
Holy Wood

I originally bought that album for Rock Is Dead, but when I listened to it I understood the message he carried on that album, a very good album, although to me is not the best.

My ranking:

1.-Holy Wood (In The Shadow Of The Valley Of Death)
2.-Antichrist Superstar
3.-Mechanical Animals
4.-The Golden Age Of Grotesque
5.-Portrait Of An American Family

I like them all though, Manson and NIN are of the few bands who can maintain a certain level of quality.

I agree with the mention of a lot of fans diserting M.A. after he adopted the glam look. Initially I disliked this album (except for a few songs), and it probably wasn't until after Holy Wood was released that I realized that the music on M.A. was far superior.

And hearing Coma White played live was a great experience.

Mechanical Animals has always been my favourite Manson album, as well. If I had to put them in an order, I'd put them:

1. Mechanical Animals
2. Antichrist Superstar
3. Golden Age of the Grotesque
4. Holy Wood
5. Portrait of an American Family
6. Smells Like Children

Although I don't really like GAotG, PoaAF, HW or SLC.

I thought the hair and the fake boobs were cool....anyways, "portrait of an american family" and M.A. were his best albums.

I love Mechanical Animals. Totally awesome album, especially as far as song-writing goes. It's almost hard to believe it's Manson behind the music, and in all honesty that and Antichrist Superstar are the only works of his I find interesting.

Mechanical Animals is his BEST record. Really good.

Speed of Pain is a kick ass song.

Was hoping he would continue with really well crafted rock songs. Maybe he will again at some point.

I'd always wondered if he would have longevity in his career. . . this record (at the time) convinced me he would.

It's the only Manson record I can listen to from beginning to end and really enjoy.

As a Manson fan, I have to say MA is my favourate album. It has alot of depth to it, and is very well written.

I agree with this completely. My ranking (as if anyone is actually reading our rankings...):

1: Antichrist Superstar
2: Portrait
3: Mechanical Animals
4: Holy Wood
5: Smells Like Children
6: Golden Age

Also, the Spooky Kids cd was pretty good. I'd highly recommened it even though Manson is a jerk and didn't want it released.

fundamentally loathesome... sigh... mechanincal animals at its best. for me its

antichrist / mechanical animals (i cant do it...)
portrait
smells like
holywood
golden gross

is it just me or did the lyrics get kind of generic after mechanical animals..? both AS and MA had very deep and honest lyrics.

Although I hate to admit it, I can agree with that. ALthough I really liked TGAOG, I didn't think the lyrical content was quite as interesting as previous albums.

1. ACSS
2. GAOG
3. MA
4. HW
5. POAAF
6. SLC

That is what my list would look like. Mechanical Animals had some great tunes on it. Some of my favorites would be "Fundamentally Loathsome" (up there in my top 5 MM songs), "Speed of Pain", "Disassociative" and "Coma White".

I don't know why all the hate for GAOG. Sure it had some shitty lyrics but the tunes were really catchy.
