From Ash512, via thisoneisonus.org:
When I first heard about the TDS set the band performed at Webster Hall on August 23rd 2009, I pretty much, like everyone else in the entire world, went apeshit. Part of it was my epic failure of choosing to see the Bowery Ballroom show the night before instead (which was still mindblowing in its own right). But then I remembered Trent tweeting the night before about the show not being officially filmed due to Live Nation charging them too much dough. Trent also mentioned this would be the first and last time they'd ever play that set... I immediately got on it and used the @thisoneisonus twitter feed to get the ball rolling.
I received 11 full sources plus a few partial ones. Thankfully, most of that material was in glorious HD, but the footage, overall, was pretty rough. Lots of shakiness, lots of blurry part due to autofocusing, saturated colors, cables in the way and whatnot.
This, needless to say, shaped the editing and the end result is RAW. Much more violent and brutal than any other thisoneisonus release, this DVD conveys visually the same kind of dark, grim intensity that can be heard on the album. This is definitely not your usual concert DVD... it's chaotic, it's relentless. But until we find out whether or not the band decides to release the much inferior Palladium show (from Trent's own mouth
http://vimeo.com/6542964), this is likely to be the only full, continuous DVD of that historic performance.
The audio, while being pretty stellar for a bootleg, has some nasty moments due to one over-excited fan screaming in the microphone. Thankfully, Aaron Short managed to slightly diminish its presence during mixing and mastering.
The Downward Spiral : Live comes as a single layer, standard definition DVD. It features animated menus and a short photo gallery sent in from people over on flickr. The torrent is downloadable right here.
Use any DVD burning software to burn the VIDEO_TS folder. Make sure you select the Video_Ts option on your software. We recommand Toast if you're on Mac or Nero if you're on PC.
For those of you with iPod, here's the full show as an iPod friendly MP4 file.
And, for those of you with no patience, you can watch it on YouTube.
Enjoy!
