zomg first again! Staying with a friend who lives two blocks away from the venue has its advantages (beyond the obvious).

Anyway, another great show. I mostly stayed back tonight on account of being rather exhausted from Friday plus a day of helping friends move - it was a nicely vicious set, and even a bit longer than they played last night. Very Downward-Spiral heavy, we got Mr. Self Destruct (not that that's too rare nowadays), Ruiner, I Do Not Want This in addition to the usuals from there. Both Metal and I'm Afraid of Americans, The Good Soldier, more Peter Murphy silliness... I can see how folks would dislike having him onstage when they're there to see NIN, but I thought he was great. I find that my knowledge of Reptile lyrics is suddenly cast into self-doubt; what with all the talk of Peter screwing 'em up, I no longer trust my memory on the matter.

But no matter! I had a great time, hope other folks did too.

Edit: oh yes, RWIB was a real nice surprise, too.

Further Edit: One other interesting thing I hadn't seen mentioned yet: the preprogrammed synth line in Ruiner was missing for the first verse or so; Trent actually delayed the second verse for a few bars to fiddle with something on the floor near Ilan's drumkit and the synth line snapped on. I'm guessing something went awry with the Piggy-drumkit-destruction which needed fixing. Anyway...

So fucking good, going to both shows, this one topped yesterdays for sure. They basically played everything that was missing from yesterdays and everything I wanted to hear (minus Meet Your Master..)

The crowd seemed...less aggressive by me, but then again I was against the middle part of the barricade (the part that juts out) and by the end, everyone seemed to just hit a wall.

Still amazing and a great way to say good bye.

Holy fuck what a setlist. Can we go ahead and call it the best ever? Crowd was much more aggressive tonight, in a mostly good way. I was second row center on the right side, we got cozy but everyone was having a great time. The band gave us so much energy, and we gave so much back. Thank you so much for making my last show the best by far. Highlights were RWIB, Dead Souls, Final Solution. Impressed with Peter and the band for making it through his two early entrances, lmao.

EDIT: Also, did anyone think that Mew's sound balance was off? From where I was the guitars and lead vocals were crazy loud, and the bass, drums and backing vocals were drowned out. Hurt their set for me...but they still did well.

Amazing show...somehow they were able to top last night.

The crowd fucking SUCKED tonight. This enormous pit broke out around me, literally, during March of the Pigs. This short, fax Mexican-looking dude was a human wrecking ball.

To the cute brunette girl behind me (I had the gold shirt on that said "GO MU" on the back): I'm terribly sorry for falling all over you like 30 times. It was out of my hands though. Smile

Anyway...yeah. Definitely glad I went and after dealing with the idiocy that is the meathead-filled crowd at every Chicago show, I'm glad this was the end. I just don't have it in me to keep doing this and putting up with all the drunk, drugged out idiots all over the place.

Great, GREAT show though. I can't wait to see what they end up doing with all the HD footage!

For a pit newbie, I couldn't have picked a better show. I was on Justin's side and really trying to hang in there with the crowd's aggressiveness. For a short girl, I got decent views for 80% of the show. I'd heard mixed reviews of the Aragon from friends, but I found it to be more intimate than Congress Theater.

This was my third show in the last 4 years, but by far the best NIN show I've seen. The setlist was absolutely perfect and the band was tight as always. I wasn't about to get my hopes up for a PHM night or anything too rare, but the 2.5 hour set perfectly summed up NIN overall (well, toss Terrible Lie in there somewhere). Highlights for me were Piggy (Trent's gnarling included), Heresy (not a personal favorite but done amazingly live) and The Good Soldier.

Trent mentioned that the music will go on and I know he's been a road warrior since 2005, but I will definitely miss the live performances.

The show was phenomenal. I won't bother posting a review of it because it speaks for itself. The show was phenomenal and that's all that you can say about it. Many beautiful songs played.

I met so many wonderful people today.

Becoming - You and your girlfriend/wife/lady friend where phenomenal in dealing with my PayPal screwup. Your pair of tickets allowed me to take both my brother and my friend, both HUGE NIN fans who haven't seen them live yet.

Negcreep - You were absolutely awesome through the whole process of buying a ticket and all that. Presale line was a cool surprise and it got my girlfriend nice and close up - which ultimately got ME nice and close up (if only for a while)

Sickamongthepure - thanks for the corn starch. It inspired me and my bro and ultimately my whole group to go buy our own box at the JJ Peppers and douse ourselves off. We gave the spare to a passing fan who wanted it.

I know there are at least three more, but I can't remember the usernames atm - if you were there and remember me from either day - send me a PM damn it!

In between Mew and NIN, a cameraman came out into the jutting part of the barricade for his filming assignment. He confirmed to me that the band IS indeed making a DVD release incorporating film from the ten shows. One of them, obviously was NOT filmed because the venue was a bunch of pricks, and as expected, the festival show will not be included.

With all of this said, if, and truly IF, this is to be my final Wave Goodbye to Nine Inch Nails. I am truly satisfied as a fan.

Good show, pretty good setlist with a few nice surprises - Right Where You Belong and The Way Out is Through were unexpected. I was happy to see finally see the Fragile-era guitar come out again (he used it on Final Solution, as well, I believe).

Other specific comments -

Trent was pretty chatty, he had two fairly long speeches. One saying how much he loved Chicago, playing here back in the ooold days (1989), how much he loved the scene. And he also reassured us that it wasn't truly the end, that he, and the band, together and individually, would still be making music, though he didn't have give any specific details.

March of the Pigs, I have never seen him pause so long in the second chorus, the crowd was just howling, it was great.

Trent had some fun in Piggy, messing with Ilan's drums. He was pushing them around a bit in the drum breakdown, completely knocking over a drum and a cymbal or two... the stagehands had a fair bit of work to do after he was finished Smile

Ruiner is always great and I'm glad 3killa got the one song he was hoping for.

The barricade arrangement was novel to me (I wasn't there last night). Instead of going straight across as usual, there was a lane in the center going a good 15-20 into the crowd. It really cut down the lateral motion; there weren't any big sideways pushes that threaten to sweep you off your feet, at least not up front near the rail. But I definitely felt the weight of the crowd, it was more crushed than Webster.

Peter Murphy... man, what a vamp. He didn't fuck up the lyrics too much this time, just came in a bit early and had to repeat a line. The two covers they did were pretty good, even though I hadn't heard either before. The first was a bit of a quieter one, with mainly just Robin on guitar; cool to see Trent joining in with a recorder part! And Final Solution was suitably powerful (Pere Ubu, even though he slagged on Cleveland earlier Wink ).

And ending on Hurt, it's the right way to do it imho. I'm quite happy for that to be my last NIN live song... until, as Trent says, he starts doing whatever else they'll be up to next.

No, I think we all realize they didn't play EVERY FUCKING NIN SONG IN HISTORY. Are you really complaining about that setlist? Unbelievable.

Is it even fair to have "Screaming Slave" and "Fist Fuck" on there? They're really just creatively named remixes. Might as well complain that they didn't play all the alternate mixes of HLAH from the single.

I was surprised to see that they didn't have Closer or Terrible Lie on the list. Both are songs that are generally included in almost any set list. It was still an amazing show nevertheless. We got there late and the line was ridiculously long, but we still ended up getting awesome spots.

By the time the show was over, we had managed to make our way to just about the front of the crowd. This was definitely the rowdiest crowd I've seen yet (been to 3 other NIN shows). There were definitely a fair share of assholes in the crowd. They were promptly ... taken care of.

Enjoyed this show much more than the night before. Don't think it was simply the setlist, there was just a better vibe all around. Went in with the intention of heading up to the balcony, but something made me turn and I walked right up to a spot just on the bend of the rail in front of Trent. Being on the bend was an interesting perspective- I could see all the faces across from me. It felt really good just seeing their excitement and enjoyment, the eyes shining with emotion. Doesn't surprise me at all that T caught that vibe and felt instantly better.

The Way Out is Through! Squeeeee!

and I'll eat my slice of humble pie - Friday night I told Peter to go home, but I'm glad he hung around for one more night. Final Solution was a great treat.

So that's it for me, can't afford LA. Thanks everyone for making my nin live "career" such an enjoyable ride - all the various band members over the years, the fans, and of course, Trent. I look forward so much to hearing whatever he gets involved in. All these years and he never stops surprising me with how much I enjoy his ever evolving sound. I wish him all the best and can't wait to hear what's next.

If anyone has an additional size large of the red 8-29 shirt please PM me. I'll gladly pay you over cost... all sold out when I got there (when Mew started).....boo.

edit* My wife is asking if anyone has a size Medium of the red 8-29 shirt, she would also like one...

so if anyone had one of either size they would like to part with, like I said... will happily compensate well. Name a reasonable price and we can work from there.

This show I'm favoring due to the overall vibe even though I think the set from the night before was better...

Things were awesome until March of the Pigs when the huge pit broke out, but man...Trent was SO into it! I loved it when he jumped up for "STEP RIGHT UP" and the mike stand went flying and he came crashing down to the stage, loosing his balance. He was SO into it.

Ruiner was AMAZING. I just wish I could've enjoyed it more without the idiots moshing all around me. Fighting for my life became more important than taking in the show so I missed most of this. Sad

I cannot believe how fucking heavy they sounded. Reptile was absolutely insane. I just wish Peter Murphy hadn't been singing it. He really fucked the lyrics up. Final Solution, however, was nice.

I really thought we were going to get In This Twilight last night. I think that would've been the perfect ending...definitely didn't need to see Hurt again but oh well. I still had an absolutely amazing time and this weekend of NIN definitely takes the crown as being the best of all my experiences.

I can't believe this was my 13th show in 4 years. It's amazing to see and hear how far the band has come and how much they've changed since that first show back on 5/6/05.

It's been a hell of a ride...thank you for everything, Trent! Very Happy

And to the fine folks from ETS that were out and about: sorry I missed you all. I left extremely early and saw nothing in the thread about the meet-up situation. And Twitter on my phone is awful so I didn't see Street Spirit's message about the Regal Beagle until 1am this morning when I got home from Chicago. Sad

Here are my photos (still uploading right now...took over 200). They aren't great. My camera is definitely showing its age and it sucks this was my last chance to get NIN. There are a few cool ones in there regardless, though.

Yeah, I'd have to agree with superklye. Overall, I think this show ranks slightly better for me than Friday night. I definitely prefer Friday night's setlist, but the the vibe throughout the crowd last night made it a little more memorable. And to my untrained ears, it seemed like the everyone sang along much more on Saturday than Friday. Or maybe I'm just getting old.

Anyway, I'm pretty bummed that, as of right now, I have seen my last NIN show. Maybe that will change in the future, but if not, it was still a fun ride.
