over at http://www.reflectinginthechrome.com we are trying to get setup to where we can find all of the sources coming up on the new NINJA tour. As many people want to tape it would be nice to know what sources are available and who is taping what so we can get all of the sources together for something special. We have a good start so far. I have an excel spreadsheet that I am putting together of everyone who is doing audio and video (or both) at each show including their contact information. So if you want to get together and make a DVD yourself then go ahead.

I also put some stuff up there that will help the tapers that will be filming or taping the show with when they get up to the gates. Many of you have never "open taped" before. Its best to have all of your sources together and if you have trouble at the gate you can always show them these two things. The documents below are a .doc file of the text from Trent's post on nin.com as well as a screen cap of trent's post on nin.com. Each one of these will help you out if you have any problems at the gate. It just is some type of evidence that they DO in fact have a taping policy if security is giving you crap. Once your in it would be best to keep these in your pockets or somewhere that you can easily grab if someone else asks. (but once your in you should be good). Anyways I hope to hear that most of you will be taping this great tour. Its gonna be EPIC!

^ Thanks for those files!

I'm planning on buying an HD video camera to tape Noblesville in its entirety from center rail. (I could do 3 other shows from rail as well but I don't wanna devote myself to that much.) It doesn't necessarily need to be a digital camera as I originally asked in the other thread, not if the video camera price isn't too much more. Even so, as you said elsewhere, RJ, it'll be worth it to go 200 more to get some uber quality (and it does make more sense for me to buy a nice video camera than another digital camera when I have my eyes set on a very nice, particular digital camera for another time). It needs stereo sound, but assuming there'll be sources from more than one audio bootleg from that show (hopefully even soundboard!) ...I won't be using the sound from the camera for whatever finished product.

So, RJ, or anyone--what CANON HD video camera should I get? I've seen this one talked highly of before...

http://www.google.com/products/catalog?q=canon+hv30&hl=en&cid=11165404241423074023&sa=title#ps-sellers

What else is out there?

I'm looking at a price range of 300-500, maybe 600.

TBH, any canon camera is really going to do the job. Really I think Canon have the best HD video quality out there for the consumers. But its really all up to you and how much you are willing to throw down on it. ya know? this is the HV20 and its pretty sick. This was taped at a metallica show.

A HD sample can be found here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g6-tBYV0aiw&fmt=22

Nice!
There could be individual shows made, or a best of every song performed on the US tour compilation at the end.

Here is my Canon HV20 footage. I was really impressed with the quality after using it the first time at a concert. If you go with Canon, my advice is to shoot in 24F mode with the Cinema Mode exposure setting.

I'll likely be too busy rocking out to NIN's set, but taking my Kodak digital camera. If i'm on the rail, I'll likely get it out and rest it on the rail infront of me pointed at the stage, so I can enjoy the show and get some footage.
If not, I'll just have my camera fun during JA.

Not HD, don't have the $, but example of footage

EDIT: I'll be at Toronto and B... eh... Pittsburgh area one.

I'll be taping at least at Mountain View in HD. We'll see what happens in terms with what camera I get to bring...

I generally try not to post that I'll be recording a show just because people tend to see that and then NOT record anything themselves...then my gear fails and none of us have shit.

But in this case I guess it's fair game.

I've already gotten tickets for THESE shows:

Wed-May-27 Kansas City, MO [Starlight Theatre]
Fri-May-29 Chicago, IL [Charter One Pavilion]
Sat-May-30 Noblesville, IN [Verizon Wireless Music Center]
Sun-May-31 Clarkston, MI [DTE Energy Music Theatre]
Tue-Jun-02 Toronto, ON [Molson Amphitheatre]
Tue-Jun-09 Columbia, MD [Merriweather Post Pavilion]
Wed-Jun-10 Burgettstown, PA [Post-Gazette Pavilion]
Fri-Jun-12 Charlotte, NC [Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre]

And I MAY be getting tickets for THESE shows, too:

Wed-Jun-03 Mansfield, MA [Comcast Amphitheatre]
Fri-Jun-05 Camden, NJ [Tweeter Center At The Waterfront]
Sat-Jun-06 Holmdel, NJ [PNC Bank Arts Center]
Sun-Jun-07 Wantagh, NY [Nikon at Jones Beach Music Theater]

I will be bringing my Canon ZR800 and (hopefully) my Sony Hi-MD minidisc recorder, assuming it's been repaired by then.

And I actually have two ZR800s now, so I'm hoping I can get my mom -- who's going to several of the shows -- to film an alternate angle and/or the projection screen footage with the extra.

Mother/Son multi-angle NIN bootlegs = Lawl.

These are the videos I took at various shows. I will only be able to make it to the Vegas show this time around. But if someone is compiling another DVD, I'll gladly send my video footage over.

Ill be filming in HD with my Canon Digital Camera. I think I am one of the few who even have gotten one of the ones from their new line of compacts. The microphone sucks so I do not expect any audio from it, but the video is great. 720p. Something I filmed recently,

Ill be in Vegas, Irvine, Santa Barbara and Mountain View.

Hey guys. Finally I am checking in with something worth reading. (I guess) I just posted on the home page the excel file with all of the sources that I know about at this point in time. I am really excited to see this forming up. We have a lot of DPA and Schoep sources coming and a lot of people with HD Cameras which will make all of these gigs really awesome come editing time!!!!!

The only thing is if its possible to get your e-mail addresses for this excel file? It would help me out greatly if I could keep this as organized as possible. thanks everyone!!!!

NOTE: If you don't want your e-mail address open in this document. I will make another excel file that will be for only me.

oh, here is the link if you just want to download it from here!

http://www.reflectinginthechrome.com/nintapingschedule.xls

Please check if there are any errors in it. Or if you know someone who is taping as well.

Good news, Ryan! I might be able to attend the KC show on 5/27, as well. I'm not going for anything expensive, but since it's fairly local, I might try to score some seats. I can't guarantee I'd get a full show or really good audio from where the seats would be, but I could at least get some distance shots of the show if someone wanted to splice them into a DVD.

Check your PMs. I'll send you my email and we'll see if we can get that gear shipped.

Nice, looking forward to more info on these. As of now, I'm planning on taking my MD recorder to Camden, Holmdel and Columbia. It's regular MD (not Hi-MD), and I don't have a good mic right now, just a $50 mono omni from Microphone Madness (which really doesn't sound that bad, but I could do better). I'm thinking about getting a Zoom recorder and some external mics before the shows, as I've been wanting to get something better for field recording.

Well what I can tell you now is these will definitely be around 50-75$ a pair and they will include a 9v inline battery box so they will be well rounded for stealth work.

if you want a good mic try this:

http://www.amazon.com/Sony-717-SONY-ECM717-Microphone/dp/B00006IS4P

it goes great with any sony recorder. I dunno.... yeah.

EDIT: Just added you to the list.
