"A Million Miles Away” is my third Nine Inch Nails live compilation, if you look hard enough you can still find A Mix Of All That Was and In This Twilight. AMMA is a collection of one of every song that was played live during the 2008 Lights Over North/South America Tour. I went through every concert that was taped and found what I thought to be the “best” performance of each song and mixed them all together to make it sound like one concert. All tracks are FLAC sourced. Please only convert this to mp3 for personal use out of respect to the tapers that were kind enough to record the concerts and share them with all of us. Even though “Starfuckers” and “The Collector” were played once or twice there aren’t any FLAC recordings of them so they’re not included in this compilation. An updated version of this may come out if those recordings do surface. Most importantly, thanks to the guys in NIN. This compilation is about the band that toured together for all of 2008, maybe the best incarnation of NIN to date.

Finished tracklisting

Someone asked for the concert sources so I put up my best guess of them. When I download a boot I only save the audio info and just lable them source 1, 2,3,etc.. as they pop up. So I went back through dime and labled the sources that way. I'm not 100% by any means on this so if anyone thinks I labled a source wrong let me know and I'll fix this list.

Also, none of these files are from the huge 300gb nin download, all from fans who were at the concerts and taped them.

If you liked my other projects (In This Twilight and A Mix Of All That Was v1.0) then good news for you, If not then don’t bother reading anymore.

First things first, I decided to do another compilation with the Lights in the Sky tour. I was debating whether or not to include the 2009 shows in this and have decided not to. The reasons behind that are as follows: Trent already announced that the 2009 shows will be completely different then the 2008 shows and I want to keep the flow the same. Also, and maybe more importantly, Josh and Ally are leaving the band and I don’t want to have to compare their styles to their replacements. This compilation is about the band that toured together for all of 2008, maybe the best incarnation of nin to date. (You never know, there might be A Mix Of All That Was v2.0 if NIN takes a long enough break.)

As for the project itself… nine inch nails: a million miles away (I thought it sounded cool and looked nice abbreviated as NIN AMMA) is a working title I used for this project, I’m open to suggestions if anyone can think of a better title. I’m not naming it Light In The Sky tour or anything like that, where’s the originality of that.

I took a totally different approach to this project then I did with the others. I’ve been working on this since the first boot was up on dime. I’ve been comparing the tracks as they come instead of doing it all at once at the end. My goal is to pick out the best sounding performances of each track that was played live and mix it altogether to make it sound like one big concert to the best of my abilities. Also I was trying to spread it out to include as many shows as I could but still keeping quality there. Right now I’m using 25 out of the 37 concert recordings that I have. I actually have a completed version already that has been changed multiple times over the course of the tour. I set it up in a way that I can mix in a song without having to change every other song, which is what I had to do with the other comps. So now I’m just waiting to see if the last couple of shows were recorded, and if they were then I’ll probably have to rework this a bit.

All the tracks I have been using are FLAC and it will remain that way. With that said, as of right now, FLAC recordings of Starfuckers and the Collector don’t exist, there are some that say the shows that they were played at were taped but I’m not going to sit on this project and wait till they appear, if they do at all. If they do I can and probably will update it.

This is the setlist which I based heavily on the actual setlists being played :
01-999,999
02-1,000,000
03-Letting You
04-Discipline
05-March Of The Pigs
06-Piggy (Album Version)
07-Head Down
08-La Mer (Intro)
09-The Frail
10-The Wretched
11-Reptile
12-Closer
13-The Line Begins To Blur
14-Gave Up
15-Corona Radiata
16-Me, I'm Not
17-The Warning
18-Vessel
19-The Great Destroyer
20-01 Ghosts I
21-25 Ghosts III
22-05 Ghosts I
23-06 Ghosts I
24-17 Ghosts II
25-28 Ghosts IV
26-21 Ghosts III
27-14 Ghosts II
28-10 Ghosts II
29-32 Ghosts IV
30-19 Ghosts III
31-Piggy (Ghosts Version)
32-The Greater Good
33-Pinion
34-Wish
35-Love Is Not Enough
36-Terrible Lie
37-Survivalism
38-The Big Come Down
39-31 Ghosts IV
40-Only
41-Down In It
42-The Hand That Feeds
43-Head Like A Hole
44-Encore Break
45-Echoplex
46-Trent Speaks
47-The Beginning of the End
48-08 Ghosts I
49-Getting Smaller
50-Reptile (w/ Peter Murphy)
51-Meet Your Master
52-God Given
53-The Good Soldier
54-Hurt
55-In This Twilight
Current runtime is 3 hours and 38 minutes
There's about a 40 minute straight run of Ghosts tracks in there, can you take it?
I’ll update this list with the concert sources when they get finalized.

Also since my photoshop skills are pretty bad, if anyone would like to do artwork for this please do. Just post it here and I’ll pick one to include with the download. With all that being said, expect to see this on torrent sites sometime soon, maybe a new years present…

sounds great!!

just a couple of notes:
I can take as much Ghosts as exist but I truly think people keeping their Atlantic City recording should send you at least Starfuckers and The Collector. or Starfuckers from Nampa?
also - I'm totally for the original Reptile without Peter Murphy. The one with Murphy could be a bonus or something (well, if you stick to your idea I'll replace it myself, no problem ;) )

I loved your last project, it plays heavily in my iPod. so I have much confidence in this next step.
However, about the Ghosts-part.... I do understand that they were all played back by back in the middle of the concert, but I think that putting them together as one big "chapter" of your compilation would hurt the whole flow of the monster. You see, having a 40 minutes "gap" without any lyrics would inevitably urge one to skip after a few listenings... maybe you could break it down to three different Ghosts-parts, with something in between.

Finding good places elsewhere in the set to put them might be difficult - and would break the flow still

Perhaps skipping the ghosts tracks in the main set, going from The Great Destroyer straight to Pinion, and having Ghosts+Ghosts Piggy+The Greater Good as a seperate disc. (I haven't checked the run-time reality of doing that)

Considering the Ghosts stuff, here's a suggestion so we can have our cake and eat it too. I'm not sure of the particular files you'll be using, but this should (I think) be the least amount of work, well, outside of the skip button on our end that is. Mix the setlist through as planned, but separate out the mix from The Great Destroyer to 1 Ghosts I as a separate file, and include this file in the main playlist inbetween The Great Destoyer and 1 Ghosts I. Then create a mix for The Great Destroyer to Pinion into a separate file, and make a playlist that bypasses around the Ghosts material including this file. This way people can skip the Ghosts stuff and not notice it.

Or just tell us to get bent Smile. In any event, I'm looking forward whatever you decide to send our way.

actually yeah, maybe three ghosts in the main part and the rest in special section will be better...

NotinCnStopMeNow, are you going to include most memorable Trent's speeches too like you did in your previous works? the one from Philly for example? and about big fucking t.. well you know :)

I don't think the Ghosts songs would cause such a problem. Those were the highlight of the whole tour, and I think the tracklist should stay true to the original setlists.

Great cover by the way !

The only thing... Was Ghosts 8 really ever performed live ? I remember people mistaking it with Ghosts 31 in early setlists, I don't think it was played.

Personally, I say make people just skip through all the Ghosts songs if thats what they want to do. I would love to listen to them all in a row like that.

Both are there.

Number 12 or so after The Wretched is listed then in the encore with Peter Murphy.

Well, seeing as how he has the recordings on hand and has been comparing 37 different shows, I think we can trust him to recognize 31 Ghosts IV if it's played.

If you search the past setlists, it was played in Toledo. There's actually a picture on the Toledo thread in the Tour Journal section with the physical copy of the setlist showing 8 Ghosts I

ah all right I was only looking for the Reptile in the end
right, it was played right after The Frail in Philly so it will be cool after The Wretched too.
I have no more objections then :)

This looks great! I would just leave the Ghost tracks the way you have them. People can just skip over any songs they don't want to hear.

It's not like people are going to regularly listen to a 4 hour long compilation in its entirety anyway.

Loved the In This Twilight comp you did. Still listen to the version of Piggy where the bass drops out all the time.

This looks to be equally amazing. Thanks ahead of time. NIN fans are some great fans.
