I really don't care for a single one of those bands. Oh well, I guess I can leave a bit later and not fret about LA's traffic too much.

Same here.

In my case, I can drink and eat much cheaper on my own patio and then head over to the ACC (Toronto) since I'm only a few minutes away via cab.

Well, with these bands opening it won't be hard to get to the front.

Nice picks Trent.

NOT.

saw DIOYY? tonite in Clevo. Excellent. jUst like the CD. Check'em out. i won't be making the nin clevo show in august so I caught my chance at a small venue like the grog shop to see'em. not a big crowd, but lively. more there for them than the headliner. plus I got a flat tire on the way home, half drunk, cut and probably broke my finger. Good times all around.

I would recommend
-Dawn of the Dead,
-Let's Make Out
-Epic Last Song.

But its all good.

i second that. Dawn of the dead and epic last songs are prob the best on the album. the whole album rocks!

I don't think the previous commenter was mocking you so much as providing a relatively accurate paraphrase of what you said.

I suppose I might as well jump on board with the indignant folks on the Crystal Castles front as I happened to find this particular article quite good: http://gameboygenius.8bitcollective.com/wordpress/2008/05/06/crystal-castles-and-chip-music-copyright-infringements/

I think it was the spectral analysis a bit of a scroll away that caught my attention, picture ho that I am. That's likely also why I see the stuff about them stringing along Trevor Brown as being even more dense: especially in business, never "act first, ask permission later."

Meh, The Gothsicles always amused me a lot more anyway.

Never really cared that much about Crystal Castles and never liked the chiptune scene that much either, but what they did still pisses me off. You can't get any lower than stealing art and calling it your own. What really gets me going is the fact that they're stealing from the little guys. People like Trevor Brown and Lobat clearly don't carry the same weight with the press or the public. So they get drowned out by fans of CC.
I'll second the get CC off the tour motion. If they still play I'll probably show up just early enough to boo my heart off at them and tell anyone and everyone I can get to about their "music-making process".

I wonder if Trent is going to look into someone else for those shows now that people are finding out all this creative commons stuff about them, or if he's going to go ahead and support a band that's doing something like that to something he cares so much about.
Why?

Well it's nice to see others coming around. When I originally posted this I was met with a collective giant "SO WHAT?".

Anyway, have you guys made the connection that the guy who discovered the crystal castles mess was a finalist on the "limitless potential" comp? Crazy.

As far as them being kicked off the tour I agree full-heartedly. They should be replaced with the guy who discovered it all! Have you heard the shit? Crazy noise speed anti technology industrial amigatrash! *THAT* would be an awesome NIN opener!!!

For sure, either way my point was that it's better than crystal castles. I simply stated dispyz / stagediver because he seems to follow nin a little more in sound and attitude than say lobat.

The guy who wrote that article also has a Myspace page -> http://www.myspace.com/crystaltheft

The artist who was ripped off by CC, Trever Brown, left this comment:

if anyone's feeling restless i think a constructive course of action would be to storm the nine inch nails web sites, sending letters and starting threads on the forums exposing crystal castles disregard for the creative commons license

trent reznor is a strong supporter of the license and inviting these kiddies on tour with him is, erm, somewhat incongruous?! - enough noise needs to be made about this to force mr reznor to do doing something about it (or look a fool)

failing that, at least get the little music thieves booed off the stage - their extreme arrogance can't stand humiliation - it'd be beautiful : )

Yes. It is now official. They suck and excuse the hand-jobbery but I just found this over at http://dispyz.radiograffiti.org and figured it was NIN related. Oh, and it's FUCKING AWESOME!

http://dispyz.radiograffiti.org/Only%20Waters%20Of%20Nazareth%20-%20demo.mp3

Awesome mash-up of NIN's "Only" and "Waters of nazareth" by Justice.

Sorry.

i'm not really familiar with most of these bands, but listen up...Does It Offend You, Yeah? FUCKING ROCKS YOUR WORLD. The title of their album "you have no idea what you're getting yourself into" is apt

do yourself a favor and listen to this album!! (at as high of a volume as possible)
