THANKS EVERYONE!

Ebay gross: $4362.45 (inc keyboard minus shipping)
PayPal fees: $143.32
Ebay fees: $126.99
TOTAL: $4092.14

So what was this all about then?

We raised cash for ItsJustDave. He had exploratory abdominal surgery on Friday the 19th, and was in the hospital for 5 days and off work for at least a month - and that may just be the beginning. No fun when you have a kid and another on the way. He's been posting about it on his LJ page for those of you who haven't noticed.

Update 10/30 - testicle removed SNIP SNIP - just a bit of chemo to go and everything should be taken care of. Phew!

Can't I just send Dave some cash?

Sure. See below for Dave's PP.

While I am flat broke at the minute, if I come upon any money any time soon, I will send it to hippy to give to dave. Even if its just $5. And I hope everyone else does the same, itll add up quick :).

As Dave pointed out, if everyone who's downloaded the torrent of his Broken or AATCHB TV Special DVDs sent him a dollar, he'd be sorted :)

My wife and I are grateful for all the help and well wishes everyone is sending our way. She's said it's restored her faith in humanity. The compassion of people I've never met stands in stark contrast to that of some of those we know personally. I'm feeling incredibly optimistic as to how things are going to turn out. Thank you all.

I've no qualms about putting my own paypal address out there, so if preferred my wife and I's shared paypal account is ItsJustDave@gmail.com

The support of everyone out there has made this mess so much easier to deal with. I am blown away.

x-posted from my livejournal wrote:
Now that I've had some time to get my head around the concept, I thought I would share exactly what's going on with me here. It appears that the mass in my abdomen was the result of testicular cancer. The type of tissue in the mass and it's location are consistent with testicular cancer and a mass is visible in my right testicle in a sonogram. The next step is another surgery. Out patient this time. I had an appointment for Monday, but it's been bumped to Tuesday. At this point they will be removing my right testicle. A bit to handle, but much better than the alternative. This will be followed by 3 months of chemotherapy at the end of which I've got a 90-95% chance of being "completely cured".

At one point while talking to the urologist, he mentioned that a few famous people have survived testicular cancer, most notably... (both my wife and I thought Tom Green, but he was thinking) Lance Armstrong. Hey, whatever you can relate to works I guess.

EDIT:
FWIW, by some karmic twist, the MSG show that the smashed keyboard is from was a show I actually attended (on my birthday no less) and I had the pleasure of meeting the band at a spiral m&g at this show.

When the auctions were running this thread was usually trimmed so only pertinent information was shown. That's probably the reason no one is responding but I'm sure a lot of people are keeping up. It's great to hear the stuff people sacrificed for Dave that Clive wouldn't disclose.

I am also interested in what else was in the envelopes of mystery, so keep up posted. I'm glad to hear both closure and the picture disc made it unscathed (I was worried about putting both in the same envelope).

OK, I think we're pretty much done here. Time to let this fade away. Thanks to everyone for their incredible support. I'm drained, and am taking a break to get some work done and maybe roll the ets bot out.

Unpinning this thread. Our family's thanks goes out to everyone who helped out and sent well wishes our way. Chemotherapy starts Monday. Should be 3 or 4 months of that. It should take care of most everything, but there is the possibility of more growth with the remnants of the abdominal terratoma. If so, I'll be having yet another surgery, but that would be the last of it.

Wasn't quite sure where else to post this, but I wanted to share. I finally got to thank Alessandro in person for donating the keyboard.

Thanks again to everyone. I've been doing great for the most part, however 2 months out of chemo I started to get neuropathy in my hands and feet. It's a real bitch, but I'm still living and breathing, so it's hard to complain much. They've got me on gabapentin and that seems to help. Hopefully, a year from now, this last little hindrance will be behind me. I've been off chemo since February and all my scans have been clear, so the outlook is very good. I'm not sure when they start calling it remission though.

I didn't know about this. Congratulations Dave, I hope you are much better. My grandfather suffered something similar a few years ago. I was living with him that time and sadly he was (obviously) older than you (75) and when he went to see the doctors, it was already too late, so he didn't get to survive. It was probably the worst time of my life, he was a really healthy guy for his age, and in a few months he suffered the worst shit I have ever seen a man to suffer. I am really happy for you and your family, and the people who helped you are really great.

Did you thank him for me too? It's a nice little piece for the collection, esp considering its history.
