This is not a thread for discussion on the merits of the war or the people fighting it. Therefore
anyone wanting to discuss that,
take it elsewhere.

I would just like to share this idea.
Re: NIN song (Hurt) played at funeral for fan killed in Iraq.

For those that would like to send something, the simplest idea may be to contact the church where the service was held. To protect the family's privacy, the church may just take any cards/packages and give them over to the family.

Thank you for all of your wishes, I lost my best friend on the other side of the world. Joey's last email to me was discussing the merits of YZ. We wanted the honorary pall bearers to come to the funeral wearing their NIN shirts. The plan was for 6-8 pall bearers, we filled two whole rows at a packed church with friends & family wearing our NIN best (20 or more). I havent seen any pictures but I will try to post them if they come into my posession, it is kinda hard to look at that stuff right now. Missie (Joe's wife) does not have an address right now (she was living on post in AK and is in a hotel now), but she appreciates the thoughts and prayers.
There has been a trust fund set up through Edward Jones for the kids, I believe that donations can be made through any of their offices nationwide.
Like many of you Joe appreciated all things NIN and went to great lengths to accumulate his collection of songs & propaganda. Joe would be flattered to know how much attention he has received, and he deserves it. He was the best man that I knew and I will weild his spirit like a fire.

Know that you and your heroic, fallen friend are in our thoughts and prayers, spleek. I wish I could say something to make it better, but I know nothing can ease the pain you must feel right now.
May he rest in peace in heaven.

Spleek,
I am sorry for your loss. Thank you for taking the time to share with us your heartfelt feelings put into words regarding Joey. Also, your words from Missie. I cannot think of a more fitting tribute to such a good friend who was such a huge NIN fan....sharing a part of him with us all here.
I could not find a link for the above mentioned fund, instead I found the address for the church so I will include it here:
Memorial contributions: Robert Joe Montgomery II Trust Fund for the benefit of his children c/o Collins Funeral Home, 465 W. McClain Avenue, Scottsburg, IN 47170

Thanks S&S, I've added the fund address to my Hotline submission. That way, there is a greater audience for donations.

Hey, if any of you have a spiral membership please check the community outreach section of the board. I am organizing members to donate towards a membership in Sgt. Montgomery's name. Right now, with spleeks help I am working on contacting his family to get their green light on this.
Even if you don't have a membership and still want to help us out, PM me and I can give you the low down.

With all due respect, what's that really supposed to achieve?

I agree with all due respect, are you just mourning him because he listened to Trents music or because you really care. What about all the other soldiers that were killed Would you start a donation for a soldier that listened to R.Kelly. Honestly I feel for his family but there are hundreds more dyin each day.

It's just one more thing that can be done to honor Sgt. Montgomery memory.
