I've booked probably over 100 shows, so I'd be happy to help you with this. I know all the good places in the Boston area. At least one of my 4 bands will be able to play.

Awesome. My band's been dead for months, but I know a few local bands. And they know a few, and they know a few. When it comes down to it, I can get in touch with a whole lot of local bands. I'll throw this their way, some will definitely want to get involved.

It WOULD be a really cool idea if all these were local bands that really care and wouldn't do it for a ton of money. I'm in the Miami area. I might know some people, although work has kept me out of the loop for a long time. But I do have access to people in the local music business, musicians, potential bookies, and all the upscale concert gear (lighting/sound/rigging) that would be needed for it.

This is AWESOME!!! And also a fucking crazy idea, but I can't wait to see what comes of it. Although the awesomeness of openAIR just oozes out of this thread, I don't think I'll be able to participate as much as I would like to. I WILL TRY THOUGH!!!!!

This works great, there's a benefit concert happening june 30th with like 7 local bands, and that'll give me a chance to spread around flyers and stuff. But, I don't really think that the festival's going to wait til july though. We'll see.

Fucking great idea, I'd love to be in with my band Black Inck (we even did a song about the Hour of Arrival so far). Problem: I don't know other bands that would be in and I'm not really in organizing... Anyone who does this kind of stuff in the area of Frankfurt a.M.?

is anybody actually doing anything with this
or just chatting about how fantastic it will be
as i see it, this is a call to you
whether NIN fans or not
the concept is to move the world
under the guise of a new artistic era
so claimed to have begun with the release
of year zero
yet most of you just want to chat
about the album which was mediocre at best
but had a statement that
out-shadowed the musical work
a statement that you support
by indulging it via purchase and celebration
no one moves the world by sitting around
bullshitting about who is times person of the year
trust me
t.r. will hopefully tell you
that in this country
person of the year means very little
especially coming from the press
i am not exempt from this mentality
but the message of year zero
and all related art and media
is to inspire action
not discussion.
coming from the guy who wrote starfuckers
i'm sure its more embarassing
but not suprising
that the majority of that fan-base
cased to receive said message
seems to have completely missed the point
and would rather than dissolve the lines
between us and them;
perpetually sit in a state of awe or disgust
acheiving nothing in vile idol worship
i come here to learn
i feel NIN and Reznors history
in music and mode
are providing me with an insight
into reaching my goals
but some of the fellow onlookers
seem to really be missing the point.

@ kasper_kane

you got a point, but you seem to forget, just like many others eager for actions that discusions are the basis of actions, if not the most important action of all !

you want to wake people up ? Talk the Talk, and when people are in line with each other they Walk the Walk,

a lot of people are willing to walk the walk, but when you walk alone, little is done.

to talk is the first action one should do.
it helps in understanding the matter you are to engage.
down talking like has been done many times here has little or no positive effects.

as for this idea, great idea !
go for it.

Once you figure out that what you are doing is not helpful, not motivating, and not an accurate depiction of what people are or are not doing, you're gonna feel like a dummy. Take your blinders off, people are doing things, just not under osr or air, and most likely you're not aware of it because they are not posting about it here on a band forum.

Secondly, The world has been fucked, it is kind of the nature of our existance for things to be fucked. Its not like it was SUPER GREAT! or quasi-perfect as one point. Up's and down, mostly down. But over hundreds of years, the down are not as far down and the up's stay up a lil bit longer. Uhhhaaa..... what was the point again.... nevermind...... just relax and have patience, and dont get extremely emotionally involved with being active in changing the world.... we are all in the same boat, just do what you believe is right and personally get involved (if not already) in something you see fit to be apart of.

i drink mountain dew. so should you.

Even when it comes to trying to make a difference and going forward with your ideas it can be hard.

Many of us are entrapped within the confines of our scociety. Whether it be school, work, socializing in general, shopping for food and whatnot. We are the major problem, all of us know about whats going on and whats wrong in our own perspectives, but how do you go about changing things?

Of course people are "just going to talk".Not everyone is a trent reznor you know.

Things take time aswell,I'm starting to see the arg start to drift off of this message board and start to turn into more political things. People have to let this stuff sink in.

It takes time for a ripple to become a wave,we just have to keep pushing.

Instead of criticizing anything done by others id make it more a priority to make something to bring to the table and say this is what i have help me get it out there. Or rather say what do you guys think about this?

You know, something that may get people more involved rather then discouraged.

Personally, I think its time for the AIR and OSR movements to step away from under the wing of Trent. Its time to make this a reality that is not tied to any one person or group.

If there are forums out there that discuss things like what we are talking about (not just the festival, but other things), someone please IM me or just post it here.

The time is right, folks. Its time to put up or shut up.

what movement?!?! Ron Paul scarcely has a movement of supporters. you guys talk as if it really has materialized into something. Inspired people to get involved in things that r of concern to them, yes, but not a movement of itself. Wake up and give a shit = have people wake up and gave a shit. Its a poster, t-shirt, and a meaningful catch phrase. OSR and AIR were meant to inspire you to find/join/start a movement or just do something for what you care about. OSR/AIR is not the movement, unless you consider it to be a movement thats about you finding your movement...

but hey, prove me wrong...

Anyone who wants a home to chat about politics and the world status, hit up http://www.fightyearzero.com

We already have a good base of members. But we always need a few new voices to inspire discussion.

I'm taking a guess that you're a female, between 12-15, who blogs a lot (about pictures and the hard knock life, perhaps)? I'm not gunna bother with more than the first two lines.

And no. No one's doing this anymore. See date of last post and the term ARG for details.
