“I don’t really want my fans to see me. What I’ve tried to do in the media is not to let my personality get in the way of the music. In a way, that creates its own aura. Today with the Internet and MTV it is easy to reach out and overexpose yourself to people, and I don’t mean like I was embarrassed about myself, but when you listen to a Nine Inch Nails record, I don’t want you to know what I look like, I want you to create your own version about the record. It is like reading a book, when you read it you’d like to know more about it and you do the casting yourself. Like now I wouldn’t wanna see Madonna naked – maybe it would be a different thing in my room right now, but I don’t need to see her. I don’t want you to know where I live or what I do, I kinda want you to want to know more. Like reading a book, you create the set and do the casting, and when you see the movie you think that I didn’t imagine it anyway similar, like in my head that spaceship looked a lot cooler. Like Tool, you don’t know anything about these guys, and it creates mystique that makes them cool.”

WHY CAN'T I SEE THE NIN.COM UPDATE? DID IT UPDATE? WHERE AM I?
For some people, it can take up to a day for nin.com updates to show up for you. This is due to the technical magic that is the internet. Try proxy or global cache websites like proxify.com or anonymizer.com to bypass your local proxy.

An unmastered Closure was leaked to The Pirate Bay in late December 2006. It has all the content that would be on the final DVD, but without the full restoration that would be seen on the official release. An example would be the Woodstock footage seen on the leak, which looks like it was recorded from a 12th generation VHS dub of the Pay Per View broadcast. Compare this to the same footage found on the Collected DVD, which is, to say, pristine.
Where's Tapeworm? What was Tapeworm?
Tapeworm is no more. The only remnant of Tapeworm that has seen the light is the song Passive by APC, which is said to have been a Tapeworm song, Vacant. Click here for more info.

What the hell is that noise at the 3:57 mark of The Wretched?
According to Leviathant and Keith Hillebrandt, that noise that you're hearing is radio interference that somehow made it's way onto the track. Trent thought that it sounded cool so he decided to keep it on there. You can really hear the noise during the beginning and the end of the remix that Keith did for The Wretched (found on the Things Falling Apart EP).
What are the CRC Sessions?
During the Fragility v2.0 Tour, Nine Inch Nails played to a small crowd at the Chicago Recording Company (CRC). The crowd was limited to less than 100, and the set has an intimate feel. The mp3s can be found on several p2p and FTP programs, but you can find it online at The Art Of Self Destruction. Some assholes on ebay have been selling CD-RWs for $200 of the show. (Thanks Tony.)
Where does the sound clip "Do you believe in miracles? No. Not really." in Heresy (version) come from?
This is in fact documentary director Aron Ranen's voice sampled from the "Religion In Suburbia documentary". The TV preacher heard in the background was sampled from A. Ranen's "Television Believers" documentary and is the voice of Rev. Peter Popoff. More info here. (Thanks Exit!)
Where did Trent find the sample at the beginning of Get Down Make Love?
It's from an old cable access show called Video Psychotherapy. The moaning woman afterwards was found by Al Jourgensen (Ministry) from an old Japanese porno. (Thanks Daisy!)
What are the noises and voices at the begining of Mr. Self Destruct?
A sample from an early George Lucas film, THX-1138. The sound sampled is a civilian being beaten by a robot police officer.

What's this I hear about a second March Of The Pigs video?
Originally, the video to March Of The Pigs was going to be a lot more complex than the original video. However, Trent didn't like how the video looked and decided to film and release the performance version instead. The footage from the video can be found on the Closure video.The original footage was never finished and was never released, so sorry kids, it's not on the internet. Footage from the original version, featuring the band performing in an oversized stomach, populated by mutant dwarves, can be found on the 1st disc of the leaked Closure DVD. (Thanks Tony.)

What about it? Trent couldn't find a suitable concept for the video and decided to scrap the idea all together. (Thanks Tony.)
What about a video for The Day The World Went Away?
Originally, TDTWWA was going to be the first single from 1999's The Fragile (which is why the single was released that summer). However, after days of shooting, Trent decided that he wasn't happy with how the video was turning out and decided to end production of the video. The video was never finished, but the footage can be found on the legendary Beneath The Surface menu on the DVD version of And All That Could Have Been. The footage featured on the DVD is all that was filmed. THERE IS NOT A COMPLETE VERSION. (Thanks Tony.)
Why is the video for Starfuckers Inc. named Starsuckers Inc.?
Because Trent didn't want the whole song to sound like he was stuttering. Trent decided that since all of the "fucks" and other obscenites were going to be edited that he should just go ahead and change the song name so the song still sounded "OK." Otherwise it would "sound like a Snoop Dogg song." Not only was the word "Starfuckers" changed to "Starsuckers" in the video changed but the ending set of lyrics as well, partly due to copyright reasons.

Trent did the Quake 1 sound design and soundtrack. That's all that's been done. Trent cancelled the Doom 3 project very early on in development. An illegal and frowned upon soundpack featuring his work (taken from a leaked alpha) was available on the internet. Nine Inch Nails did NOT re-make the theme song for The Legend Of Zelda. Closer To Mario was done by that bastard, Meathead. (Thanks Tony.)
Why did Trent and Marilyn Manson fight?
Why does the wind blow? Why does the sun shine? Because. You know how brothers fight over stupid things like toys, video games, and food? It was like that. Trent and Marilyn fought, now Trent and Marilyn are friends. But they cat fight through their websites and the press. Go figure.
How did NIN get covered in mud during their performance at Woodstock?
According to Trent, "We were right out by the big mud pit and watching everybody. I thought 'Well, this looks like a lot of fun.' At that time, there wasn't that many people that were muddy, but the people that were in the mud looked like they were having a great time and we thought, 'fuck, y'know, we kinda can't actually do that'. But we didn't have showers backstage at that time, either. So we went back and hung out backstage, and it was just a real nervous day. Then on the way to the stage, I pushed Danny, our guitar player, and he just fell face-first into the mud. Then he tackled me and it turned into a kind of all-male mud wrestling thing. It was actually really funny. After we did that, all nervousness kind of subsided."
