Somehow I doubt people will be doing it for the money, but as posted on the nin hotline, you can remix the pigface version of "Suck", and the best one wins a cool grand.

Anyone doing it? Thoughts?

The fact that it has to be mailed to you puts me off- it's been taking weeks to get any mail from the States (and would they actually mail it overseas?). I'd probably have three days to work on it.

It's on Gub, I think (?) by Pigface. It's much more minimalist than the NIN version. Just drums, bass and Trent.

Yup, it's on Gub and Preaching to the Perverted as well. I'm definitely going to participate!

Fuck that, after all the horror stories I have heard about Martin Atkins there is no way I would sign anything coming from him.

That's what it says. Not a bad trade for such a cool item, really, considering how easy it is to throw together remixes these days. I've loved this version of "Suck" ever since I heard it seven years ago on Napster.

I would love to do this, but OH GOD, THE COMMITMENT. What could he do if you don't send in a remix? Sue you? I don't want my name to be fucked up in any way before I turn 18 or anything.

Eh, all my remixes are pretty bad anyway. I think I'll pass.

It's not like there are any stipulations on the quality or style of the remix. You could hand in any pile of shit as your 'remix'. It's not a big deal.

From the Underground Inc. newsletter:
"At the same time I continue my journey backwards through the archives here and the depth of material from the Ritalin sessions is truly stunning. Lots of dubs, and for those of you who don't understand the term, its the breaking down of a mix and the elements of a song and delaying and feeding back elements, sometimes allowing just the bass or one other element to carry on a thin thread before other more familiar elements come back into place. I'm hearing mixes with layered female vocals that I know I originally heard in my head, hired people to come in and sing, painstakingly recorded and mixed and then didn't use. Different drum sounds, wildly experimental extreme panning and chopping, and I was so obviously completely immersed in the studio that it makes me envious of that time and place in my head; and full circle, fuels the mood of my upcoming trip." - Martin Atkins

DO NOT DO THIS!!!

Anyone who knows the head of Invisible and founder of Pigface, Martin Atkins, knows that this is nothing but a HUGE ripoff. This is the same guy who was selling remixes and dinner dates on ebay last year.

Here's what'll happen: A bunch of people will submit stuff, he'll release it all immediately, and no one will "win" anything. His label is on the verge of bankrupcy, he doesn't have $1000 at ALL.

He's a complete scammer, don't bother. I know more than a few bands on his label that are supremely unhappy and can't wait to get off.

I dont really care if I dont get any money at all. Or even recognition.

Im remixing it for the fact that I get to remix a song I love.
