Administrator's edit: Topic moved from Speak Your Mind forum. Please post only if you were at the show.

I just got home from the show at the deltaplex, and I'm dissapointed at the redneck a**holes that were throwing things on stage during "Hurt" causing the end of what what shaping up to be the best concert ever. How can people be so damn ignorant?

I was near the front all night (Covered in beer, but luckily my Coil T-Shirt has no cig burns through it), so i'm sort of wore out, however...

Mr. Selfdestruct to open which was pretty awesome. I don't know what the lead in was, as i was still in the entrance to the barn when they took the stage (I thought it was the Moving Units playing).

I'm not going to try to recall the setlist, but it was the norm until The Day The World Went Away, which was fucking awesome. It sounded a lot better than it did five years ago at the Van Andel, and Josh Freese pounded those fucking drums to hell at the end.

The crowd wasn't into the show too much at first, but as the show progressed, the crowd got more and more rowdy. By the time they got to Only, most of the floor was hopping.

Aaron seemed quite wore out after the first few songs, though. I dare say Mr. White had more energy than Aaron did.

Oh, and Trent's speech. He told us how happy he was to be on this tour, as the crowds on this leg have been the best yet. Then he went on to say that he had gotten the first bra of the tour, and proudly held it up.

It sucks it had to end the way it did, and that we missed The Hand That Feeds, Starfuckers, and Head Like A Hole. No smashy-smashy tonite.

Grand Rapids always holds a diff. experience every time I go. It was a bad ass concert, but as usual there had to be some people who couldn't handle their alcohol/drugs.

Oh my God. I felt a little disappointed and betrayed at first, but now that I know what happened I just want to kill that bastard that threw it. Trent is a GOD. This is my first post, but nobody had a setlist yet, and the whole thing upset me.

Here's the setlist, as I was writing the songs down as they went, so it's 100% accurate:

Pilgrimmage intro
Mr. Self Destruct
Sin
Terrible Lie
The Line Begins to Blur
March of the Pigs
The Frail
The Wretched
Closer (The Only Time breakdown)
The Big Come Down
Burn
Gave Up

*screen down*
Eraser
Right Where it Belongs
Beside You in Time
*screen up*

With Teeth
Wish
Only
Every Day is Exactly the Same
The Day the World Went Away
Even Deeper
Suck
Hurt (well...most of it)

It saddens me that we didn't get Starfuckers, THTF, and HLAH.

While the crowd was upbeat I thought their responses to the band were HORRIBLE. Aside from the obvious meltdown, the crowd made me ashamed to even be there. During the eraser (maybe Right Where It Belongs, I'm not sure) scene where the bird is caught in a pond and eaten, people started laughing and cheering... I realize the video is supposed to be moving and whatnot, and to me, this response is not acceptable.

Did anyone notice that the Pilgrimage intro was a little untimely? It came on right in the middle of the venue music and no one really knew what was going on until the lights went out.. Pilgrimage interrupted whatever music was playing, those who knew it started cheering, and then the lights just shut out and Self Destruct started.

Through the parts we got to see, NIN lived up to all my expectations. Mr Self Destruct and all of the Broken tracks were simply mindblowing. I wish I could have kept myself from watching the screen video before the concert, because that in itself was worth the ticket. I thought that this setlist really lent itself to a damaging effect, however. It kind of drags on after the screen comes up, and without Wish in there the crowd could be easily killed. I loved the band though, all the songs were perfect, and it's sad that we'll never see them in GR again.

Also, after the show was over a huge melee broke out near the merch table.. Apparently a few guys decided it would be cool to fight over this girl who claimed to have been groped (please, it's a fucking concert) during the show. These two assholes started fighting, security got there and was literally pushed down by other people.. It got ugly REAL quick.

Great, great band, horrible experience.

I agree man, the band's performance was tight. I'm a huge fan, and loved all the songs, and my girlfriend has just heard them through me, it was her first NIN show. She liked the songs, so I disagree that the set "lent itself" to this end.

WTF was with that intro, I caught that too. For about 30 seconds to a minute the two tracks overlapped, even after the lights were off. I heard Josh lose time once near the beginning, but other than that it was superb. (well, other than the other obvious fucked up thing that happened)

I hate drunk fucking retards who think that shit is cool. Trent is amazing, nay, legendary, and to do that shit is apalling. I guess now he and Bowie have something more in common now.

I am not the girl in question, but I feel the need to say the following:

It is one thing to accidentally get shoved against someone/brush against certain regions of the body. It is quite another to deliberately grope someone. I was having a relatively decent time until the small-dicked dipshit behind me decided to persistently and deliberately cop a feel. Yes, it's a concert, and I expect to get a little, perhaps moderately, roughed up in the pit. However, it is NOT OK when someone sticks their hands down your pants and starts grinding up against you and feeling you up. That is called sexual assault and it's illegal and disgusting.

Before you start telling me to "suck it up and deal" and that "it's a concert, if you don't want to get felt up, get out of the pit," please take a minute and consider what you're saying--that men can't help themselves and thus women should get out of their way, that it's our responsibility to make sure that we keep ourselves out of situations where uncivilized assholes will take advantage of us. It is sad to think that there are still people who try and blame the victim. You sicken me.

Wow.

By reading this thread you would think the concert sucked???

IT DIDNT. I have seen NIN like 6 times now and this is the tightest the band has ever sounded. The setlist was KILLER, the bands energy was high, and I thought the crowd was fairly into it. I was suprised at how diverse the crowd was however and the fact I talked to young and old to hear that this was their first NIN show.

Mr Self destruct is awesome, as is EDiETS, With Teeth, Even Deeper, TDTWWA was a nice suprise, and I have a whole new respect for ERASER.

Maybe I wasnt paying attention, but have they been playing The Big Come Down at other shows? And the fact that we got Beside You In Time and Right Where It Belongs back to back was cool.

I thought this was an amazing concert and was a bit suprised by the abrubt ending. My first thought was that the keyboard malfunctioned so he threw it down, but then when they didnt come back out I fugured someone did something to piss him off.

It was a GREAT show with a fucked up ending. I'm not pissed about it but Ive seen the "missed" songs before. If it was my first time seeing NIN.....the person throwing the lighter would definitely be on my shit list.

They played for like 2 hours though (8:30 to 10:30?). And as you all know this band doesnt take breaks.......

On another note Moving Units wasnt horrible. I wish they would stand up for themselves though and give some shit back to the crowd. They kinda sounded like the Cure to me a little bit!? Some tough guy in the crowd with a marijuana shirt on was yelling "You guys suck" and also "Fags". I wanted to go punch him in the mouth.....what a moron.

Explain to me why one of you assholes didn't kick the living shit out of the cock sucker who threw the lighter?

I'll explain to you why...

Its because no one knew what the fuck was going on. I had a friend up at the front pretty much dead center.. He didn't see anything.

How were the fans supposed to know. There was no words.. He just threw the keyboard down and left. I thought it was all a part of the show til I saw him walking off the side of the stage. Then about 1 to 2 minutes later the rest of the band finally figured that it was over and left too. I think almost everyone thought they were going to come back out for an encore. It took almost 3 - 4 minutes for the lights to come back on after they left.

well now that i'm not buzzed anymore, i got a chance to look over what I got from the show, almost 2hours of it on 3 mem sticks. (i knew it was a good idea to buy that 2gb stick) I only missed parts of a couple songs when I couldn't wait anylonger for some alcohol, but still I think you're all going to enjoy it. still have to wait until i get out of work. no dime no demon it'll be up on a member free spot. hopefully everyone can be a grown up and seed for atleast a couple hours after they get it.

edit: for those who can't do torrent msg me and we can try and work something out

Sexual assaults and concerts
People do not have control. AKA I think what Trent preaches day in and day out. He has regained control over his addiction and is in the pilot seat again.
People get drunk, they do dumb things...
People are horny and they do even dumber things when drunk....and at a concert.
This is something we have to live with.
People leave a concert so trashed they can't put the key in the ignition and think its okay to drive home, people grope a girl at a concert....
Last night I saw a pickup truck drive up the side of the Deltaplex parking lot and take off just to have a undercover michigan state police officer fly down the road to pull him over.
He did not exercise control over his actions.......we got out of the concert early, if anything we were "ahead of schedule"
We need to respect eachother.
We just have to face it, every girls set of assets is "something we can never have" unless we earn it from you.
Although this is a concert, people are on every substance known to man, and just like a guy grabbing your ass, if there is a altercation, it could get very violent considering no one really pays attention to who did what or started what. The best thing to do is inevitably let it go, or if your one for violence.....follow him around the show behind him, and when the chance arrives, grab him by the back of his t-shirt choking him to the ground, throw a t-shirt on his face if you want it to be anonymous, and give him a number or two.
