What an awesome show, that was fucking intense. And they played Eraser!!!! Ears... so.. numb.... Great job Trent, that was truly amazing. The rendition of Burn tonight was top notch, as well as just about everything else.

Great show tonight. I didn't notice any significant changes from their previous setlists. As TIIMPs already mentioned, Josh Freese was announced by Trent as their new drummer.

Autolux went on promptly at 8pm and played until just after 8.30.

NIN came on at about 9.10 and led in with Pinion. They closed the show with HLAH as usual.

Fantastic show in a super tiny venue. Seemed like a high school basketball gym. Maybe a little bit smaller than the UC Davis show earlier this year.

I got to the venue at about 7.20 since I had to drive down from SF after work, so I don't know about the Spiral members getting in for soundcheck, but I didn't get the impression that they did.

Great show tonight. Josh did a fine job. Trent announced that he's the "new 'official' drummer". Gives the impression that he'll be playing the rest of the tour, but who knows?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think this may have been the first show ever to have Eraser played without a curtain.

It was a 'gutsy' performance, I would say.

The band was tired from their return from SA, which Trent mentioned... and it showed a bit... plus they had to resync with josh plugged in again back there... admirable but not flawless in his return...

Yep - 'gutsy' - I'll go with 'gutsy'.

The crowd was quite rambunctious for a dry venue.
But I missed the screen/video, the 'upside-down-bar-graph' lighting from the arena tour, and the band's energy (compared to Oakland at least).

All I have to say is JOSH F'N FREESE!!!!

OK, well maybe I'll say more. Stage set-up was the same as the club tour with the LED lights in the back, etc. And yeah, my high school gym was bigger than that place. We were literally on the basketball court, What what in da butt. Anyway, the band was great and the crowd was great, though both were better at Oakland show, in my opinion. But the place went pretty nutty when Trent introduced Josh as the "new official drummer". Brandi from the Spiral actually told us about Josh when she was handing out the tickets, so we knew beforehand. That, and the fact that he walked right by everyone about 10 minutes after she told us, What what in da butt. Oh, and no soundcheck. Everything seemed to be running late and Brandi kind of warned us that it might not happen. Setlist above is correct. OK, time for bed.

I agree with everything said above. Great show. Maybe not as much energy as other shows, but still blows other bands out of the water and a better way to spend a Tuesday night than anything else I can think of. Had fun seeing familiar faces from the Oakland show and saying hi, although I didn't hang out in the Spiral line. Debated whether to try to make it into any soundcheck and went instead for a walk down on the beach at sunset (cue cheesy music -- although my soundtrack was Sunspots).

I'm so sad that this is the end of my own personal NIN tour (six shows this year) for the foreseeable future -- I don't think I'll hit any of the midwest shows. Here's hoping some west coast shows get added!

OK, so what's the word on Alex?? Why the change?

Does anyone happen to know what song was played immediately following the show last night? Basically right after Head Like a Hole, when NIN left the stage.

Definitely not as great as Oakland, but a good show none the less.

While there was plenty of energy in the crowd, it didn't seem as if people were participating as much. The Oakland crowd was much more responsive to band cues (overhead clapping, filling in lyrics). The smaller venue certainly helped amplify the crowd movement though. I was near the front middle for the first half and had a lot of fun until my girlfriend and I decided to work our way out and get some air. I guess my friend got smacked in the back of the head by two guys who were fighting, but he said others in the crowd helped him up quickly.

I wanted to hit 2 people there though. That first damn crowd surfer who stayed up way too long. He kept trying to stand up on top of people... Then there was the asshole who threw a bottle at Jeordie's head while he was leaning on the mic. It wasn't just a random toss onto the stage, this dick aimed right for Jeordie and was disappointed when he missed. I was just a little too far back to reach in and smack that guy up the head.

Otherwise I had a lot of fun. One of my friends snagged a drumstick (conveniently labeled as "Josh Freese's"), we all got nice and sweaty, and I enjoyed seeing some new songs (compared to my first show at Oakland).

I thought the show was really good. I was surprised by how small the venue is, it was like NIN playing in my highschool gym. Josh did a great job, not flawless, but strong. I spoke to Trent briefly before the show, he seemed to be in good spirits, but tried as he mentioned. And I would just like to say to the assdick crowd surfer that had to be pulled out by security, taking some of my hair with him, I hope my little sister punching you in the balls renders you limp for life.

It was Movement by LCD Soundsystem.

Not sure, but Brandi was like "Ummm, he's not in the band anymore. Trent let him go."

My rumor-starting theory (which is not confirmed by anyone): we all know Trent is trying to work on the new album while on this leg of the tour (well, not this 4-show tour, but the next leg starting in January). If he's going to be on the road, working on the album, he'll need all the pieces with him. He can't just go out and have Dave Grohl stop by every now and then when he needs help with drumming. Therefore, he hired the best guy out there and now he not only has his "live" drummer, but also his "studio" drummer all wrapped up in one. And a pretty kick-ass one at that! [/rumors]

One more thing: when I saw Josh, he didn't have his super-secret NIN-signaling device on his wrist like meathead had shown in his cartoon. WTF? Did he upgrade to something smaller? Meathead, we need you to find out! (preferrably in flash cartoon form, What what in da butt)

Absolutely positively sure.
Was singing it with a friend on the way out.

The 'guitar' part you might be remembering kicks in at 1:12 - I could see starting from the beginning how it might not sound the same as the song you remembered.

No problem - it does sound better louder.
I recommend the whole album by the way.

Funnily enough - I first heard LCD Soundsystem playing before the concert in Davis in March. Then Trent answered a fan email on the question of what they pipe out before and after the shows (he mentioned LCD Soundsystem, MIA and others) - and I tracked it down.

So - if you get into LCD at all - we both have a NIN show to thank for it.
