I can't believe these 3 days are over...
First of all, I suppose this should go in the Reno thread, but it happened today, so...
I talked briefly with Trent this morning when I saw him at the Reno Hilton. I'm not really sure what words came out my my mouth, but I thanked him, told him the show was awesome, and he said thanks to us. And I shook his hand. Then we let him go drink his coffee.
As for tonight, I got my wish of The Frail-The Wretched, and it was great hearing The Big Come Down and TDTWWA.
My friend & I got in line at 2:00, and we ended up at the barricade, on the far right side. This is pretty much where we wanted to be, if a little far over. We couldn't see Jerome at all, but had a good view of Aaron & Trent. And it was a nice chance to be in a mellow spot (almost no crowding and room to move around) and just enjoy the performance with a good view. And it was great to watch Aaron - at one point he climbed to the top of a stack of speakers & jumped off. He also grabbed a hat from one of the security guys and wore it for awhile.
A fan got onto the stage late in the set, but got shoved back off it pretty quickly. He came past us in the moat, high-fiving one of his friends. Asshole. I couldn't really tell what the pit was like in the middle. Saw a couple of surfers, but it seemed like fewer people got pulled out than last night. Trent also threw lots of water bottles to the crowd, and the security guys were passing some in too.
The show seemed to go really quickly tonight. I can't believe I have to wait until May for the next one...
The show was fucking amazing! The crowd and the band were full of energy. It was my first NIN concert and it will be something I will never forget.
The opening act was sub-par. I only really liked the first song. But I wasn't like others who acted like dicks and heckled her.
Speaking of hecklers, during Hurt there was some fucker who was saying shit like "You copied Johnny Cash", or wait for Trent to say: "... to see if I still feel..." and then shouted out "MY DICK IN YOUR MOUTH". And boy was this shithead cocky too, he looked like one of the Backstreet Boys crossed with a biker. Kind of gay actually. Any way, people were pissed at him. A girl stormed pass me and BITCH SLAPPED him to the amusement of the crowd around him. He then started shit with others and got his ass beat down quickly. Mr. Cockrock ended up leaving like a little pussy bitch, but not before being clocked several times on his way out. Very entertaining.
Back to the show... did I mention it kicked ass? I thought the sound was great in Freeborn, although some of the vocals were muffled by the music, which made the new songs harder to understand.
I was most impressed with Wish, THTF, TDTWWWA, The Wretched, and Head Like A Hole. Trent was just as intense as his performances on the DVD.
The stage setup was simple but effective, with panels, strobe lights, etc. It really worked out.
I am so happy I got to see them, especially in such a small setting, and hopefully I will catch them in the US Fall tour.

Some interesting observations:
Trent has a device on his mic stand that lets him alter his voice by grabbing the mic stand. That was cool. He also had an instrument that he played with his thumbs at the end of piggy. I have one of those instruments but I am not sure what it's called. The new songs were really F'ing cool. To me that was the highlight of the show. Also hearing the big comedown live was awesome.

Trent said just before launching into one of the new tunes "We are punishing you with new songs!" which was pretty funny, and i love how they mixed closer with get kinda i want to, singing the "...scraped off my knees, i drink the honey etc etc" to the tune of kinda i want to, cool. i am so tired now i think i will go collapse. excellent show. Aaron is a mad man i love him! that poor security guard didn't know what the hell happened when aaron grabbed his hat! i'll post pictures tomorrow when i get them developed.

Damn this show was freqin awesome! .. i went to the fresno show, and this show tore that one up. Again, Carre Calloway was there, the crowd seemed to get into her sounds, they appreciated her bravery i guess.. but back to nin, I loved how they started with the frail, a great build up, way more effective then in fresno where he began with a new song, leaving we the audience, hangin' (but still enjoying the music) The crowd and the band had so much energy tonight. Moshing all over, with alot of respect, when individuals fell, the moshing paused, we all helped the person up, and the moshing continued, it was an awesome atmosphere.. Trent went off stage and crowd surfed. The Big Come Down was really unexpected and freqin awesome! Aaron jumping off the huuuugggeee ass speaker was fuqin rad! I rate this show a definite 10!
-now to that loser during Hurt,.. we were all enjoying hurt, well that loser was standing right behind me, and started booing and saying shit.. so i fuqin screamed "shut the fuq up" at him, and he gave the .. open arms "wha wha wha" thing, people started to also yell.. then yelling turned to pushing.. then pushing turned to a girl charging at him, to me socking him in the jaw twice, to everyone putting in thier shots in .. i also kicked him several times.. oh and lit his hair on fire

. he deserved it... someone accually took a picture of it.. Who ever that person is.. i hope u find this forum and post that picture! that guy really ruined the mood for me, and i'm sure for everyone else as well.
I have to say, NIN fans rock! DAVIS=10

What an awesome show! Thanks for the links. I couldn't have been happier with the set list. My only complaint is that I'm short, so I saw a lot less than I hoped for. Still great! "ah-with-ah teeth-ah" is the catch phrase of the year.

The show was incredible. Can't wait for San Francisco.
I got in line about 5, I'd say there were 200-300 people in front of me. I didn't have any trouble getting a spot towards the front. After I walked in (and gasped - despite me having seen pictures of the venue. It is TINY. Think of a high school gym with a lower ceiling) I took my time going to the bathroom and I still got a good spot. I was 8-10 people back and a little to the left. (I should be just off camera on the right side of heatherhate's 1st pic).
I had an open mind going into Carre Callaway's set, and I wanted to like it, and even after I was bored and annoyed I still didn't heckle her like many others. But it wasn't good. Her voice is not pleasing to the ear. She kept going off key. She kept stuttering with the guitar. She didn't look comfortable at all. I wanted it to end for everyone's sake, including hers. Oh well.
The Frail was a great way to open, and everyone was really going crazy during The Wretched. I wish the energy could have stayed near that level. There were a few statues right by me during the show, and it kind of killed it for me. It seems like the whole front-left section was pretty unenthusiastic. Maybe that's because we were in front of Jeordie, who easily could've been mistaken for a coma patient. Tip to future concert-goers: stay on the right of the stage.
My favorite performances were March of the Pigs, Terrible Lie, Home, and The Big Comedown. The latter wasn't a surprise because when I got there, I took a walk around the building and I heard them playing it, I guess during the sound check. I'm still very happy they did and it sounded fucking incredible live.
My least favorites were tdtwwa (I just don't like the song), closer (and I'm not one of those "it's the most famous nin song so I hate it" - it's one of my favorite songs. I just didn't think it sounded very good, especially compared to the version on aatchb. The bridge was cool, but I would've rather just heard The Only Time performed in it's entirety), You Know What You Are, and The Collector. I know that I haven't heard those two songs yet so it's not fair to judge, but I also hadn't heard With Teeth or Home, and I thought both of those were great (Home is incredible, I really wish it was on the album). I know this is similar to many nin songs, but the choruses of ykwya and collector change so dramatically, it just didn't sound good. It was like a mishmash. I'm sure I'll change my mind once I hear the album.
Other notes: Security seemed pretty relaxed. There was a lot of crowd surfing in the middle but only one person actually got near me. The whole show seemed surreal being so up close and in such a tiny venue, and it was everything I hoped for, but to really reach for something to complain about, the stage was so small they couldn't move around much. Aaron wasn't as explosive as advertised. Jeordie is one ugly motherfucker.
I'm still trying to process everything. Maybe I'll remember some things to add tomorrow. Awesome show. I had very high expectations and they were surpassed.

10 - Closer/Kinda I Want To
It was "The Only Time," not "Kinda I Want To," just like the other shows so far. I heard it on the Fresno bootleg but it still kicked ass to hear that goofy synth breakdown in person.
"The Big Come Down" was a pleasant surprise, I didn't even recognize it at first. I wish that they delved a little deeper into TDS, though, rather than just playing the singles and "Piggy." No big deal, the show was still incredible.
The venue was like my high school gym. SO TINY!
I cannot put into words how great the show was. I feel fortunate to have been there.
Am I the only one who misses danny/robin/charlie??? New guys are great, but I guess I'm nostalgic, for me, it would've been nice to see d/r/c too.
Also, after the show we hung out by the bus in back. At about 11:30 Trent came out, signed a bunch of stuff, hugged a few girls and chatted a little. Very cool!!

Just got home....that was an absolutely amazing experience. We were up on the risers at the left of the building, and the view was perfect. Carre Callaway - ya know, she sounded pretty bad, but by the time she was finished, I had a crush on her...lol.
NIN - The sound in general was supurb. I loved the lighting too....for such a small venue, they put on an arena-caliber show. Trent sounded like he's at the top of his game, the band sounded awesome....I really dug the new stuff (not so much with-a teeth-a, but I'm sure it'll grow on me). Best songs of the night for me were TDTWWA, Terrible Lie, and fuck, everything else. Definitely a once-in-a-lifetime event for everyone who was lucky enough to be there....I felt like I was a part of something pretty special.
Now to find the perfect spot for my $20 poster....
Aaron WAS explosive.... He took out his 5ft stack with one jump off it and went off the 12 foot stack on the far right of the stage. He was reigned in most of the show, but when they closed with HLAH he was everywhere and went off everything. They had to kill the power to the PA's to get his guitar to stop wailing after he left the stage. I was happily entertained but him and some of his glares through the set.
Damn....not quite New Orleans in `94 but it was awesome seeing them first this year in such a small and ALL GA venue....
You could feel the floor flex as we jumped....that rocks...

I arrived at the show, got in line, the line was pretty long, but it went fast enough, and got there. We got a space not too far from the stage, about ten or so people, and were behind tons of the tall ones. Lucky us. And the people behind us were sitting and taking an absurd amount of space so I was extra crammed. I liked seeing Leo on stage, just seeing someone who works with the band up close was fun. After waiting for what seemed like forever, the opening act came. I had extremely low expectations, and they were only slightly surpassed, I just wanted to be over. All those songs with no bassy sounds at all gave me a bad headache. Then I waited for another what-seemed-like-forever and then the intro started. As soon as such happened, the crowd started to surge.
The Frail excited me as an opener, as I was expecting it to be the same as the other shows, and it really made me want to hear what songs were different from the rest. The Wretched didn't surprise me at all. I enjoyed hearing You Know What You Are? at better-than bootleg quality. Things started getting rough because of some five-foot asshole with a goatee who was throwing himself everywhere. About five more similiar assholes were there. I couldn't see too well, even though I'm five foot ten. Seeing Trent was weird. I'm used to AATCHB and seeing him in my TV, and it seemed like it was nothing more than that. I couldn't see Jeordie or Alessandro, but I could see Aaron and Trent (most of the time), Aaron was really good, but I couldn't see him unless he was near the edge, so I didn't get to see most of that. During one song I saw Rob Sheridan going through the pit with a video camera, and earlier I saw him talking to people, before the show. The only song I could see Alessandro was The Big Come Down, and he played either guitar or bass, which surprised me a lot. I liked him. During Hurt I left the most crowded areas and saw Rob, I sat behind him and watched the show through his view screen. He mostly filmed close-ups of Trent, and zoomed out at the end of the song. He stood there not filming for THTF. I wonder why he didn't film that. After that song, he went to the side and I went back in the pit, only on the other side to see Jeordie. He was pretty interesting to watch, and that side was much more enjoyable. After the show, we hoped to get a pick or a waterbottle, but no such luck. Some guy got on stage when they were doing that and was being stupid and showing off. As soon as we gave up hope we walked back and the posters were sold out, luckily, I got one before the show started and kept it in that one office. I'm surprised no one else claimed it.
Sorry if it's difficult to comprehend, I'm really tired, my arm is sore, and still recovering.

I think all of you forgot to mention one thing. TRENT LOOKED HOT! He has definitely been hitting the gym!
First time seeing NIN. It was great, it was sad when it ended. A highlight was definitely: BIG COMEDOWN
The new tracks sound REALLY good...
Now onto that listening party on Wednesday.
i had never heard of The Big Comedown til tonight. it was amazing. where can I download this song? at times of the set, i felt like i was the only one singing the choruses of the new songs, so goood

I saw him climb to the top of the speakers during hlah, and I was surprised and interested but something took my attention away and I never saw him jump. I'll admit I had a bad view of him during the show, but I kept making an effort to look based on all the comments and I never saw anything unusual. I'm sure it was much better on the right side though.
